Payton II missed the Warriors win over the Rockets on Sunday as Golden State advanced in Game 7. His return in Game 1 against the Timberwolves will likely push Jonathan Kuminga out of the Warriors’ rotation. Payton’s defense could be important in this series against Timberwolves superstar Anthony Edwards.

Payton II is still listed as questionable after missing Game 7 against the Rockets on Sunday. However, he wasn’t at shootaround ahead of that game, so this is a good sign for his chances of playing. Jonathan Kuminga logged seven scoreless minutes in Game 7 and would likely be pushed back out of the rotation if Payton II is back.

Payton did not play in Sunday’s win over the Rockets to conclude that series. His absence led to Jonathan Kuminga entering the rotation, but he went scoreless in seven minutes off the bench. Payton’s return will help the Warriors defensively, as they must account for Anthony Edwards.

Added to the Warriors’ injury report late Sunday morning, Payton will miss the series decider in Houston. This should result in Brandin Podziemski returning to the starting lineup after playing 29 minutes off the bench in Game 6. Also, Moses Moody could return to the lineup to strengthen the Warriors’ perimeter defense, with Buddy Hield coming off the bench.

While Payton’s left thumb injury is not an issue for Game 7, he has been added to the injury report due to an illness. While he did start the Warriors’ Game 6 defeat on Friday, the veteran guard logged 20 minutes with Brandin Podziemski playing 29 off the bench. If Payton cannot play on Sunday, Podziemski should return to the starting lineup.

Warriors coach Steve Kerr started Payton over Brandin Podziemski, with the veteran wing capable of helping out defensively and making the Rockets pay out of the dunker spot. Unfortunately, the change did not result in increased production from either player. Payton shot 40 percent from the field, while Podziemski (10/7/3/1 with two three-pointers) shot 4-of-9. Given how Game 6 played out, it would be unsurprising if Kerr returned to Podziemski as his starter for Game 7 on Sunday.

The Warriors will take a more defensive approach to their starting lineup for Game 6, as they look to close out the Rockets. Payton will start, replacing Brandin Podziemski in the lineup. Podziemski should still play plenty and can provide offensive firepower off the bench.

Given his limited offensive repertoire, Payton is the player opposing defenses tend to leave alone when he’s on the court. With Jimmy Butler (pelvis/glute) sidelined for Game 3, there was a need for GPII to make the Rockets pay. And that’s what happened in the fourth quarter. At one stage, Payton scored nine straight Warriors points, helping to put Game 3 in the win column. Even if Butler is back for Game 4 on Monday, the Warriors will need Payton to make the Rockets pay for leaving him alone if they continue to take that approach.

Payton is available after being listed as questionable on the initial injury report. He’ll be more valuable to the Warriors as a defender than as a scorer, whether Jimmy Butler (glute) plays or not.

Payton II is known more for his defense, but he failed to score a point in 12 minutes in Game 2’s loss to the Rockets. The 32-year-old shooting guard is now in danger of missing Game 3 with a shoulder injury given his questionable listing. With Jimmy Butler hurting, the Warriors need all the help they can get, though Payton II is far from an essential player at this point of his career.

Payton is back after sitting out Golden State’s last two games with a knee injury. The Warriors effectively went eight deep for Wednesday’s loss to the Spurs; they should run a nine-man rotation with Payton cleared to play.

After playing just two minutes in Friday’s win over the Nuggets, Payton was far more involved in the Warriors’ rotation on Sunday. He provided surprising offensive production, with 16 points being the most he’s scored in a game since March 17. Add in the rebounds, steals, and three-pointers and this was an excellent night to stream Payton. The Warriors play four games during Week 23, starting with the Suns on Tuesday.

Payton II has missed about a week with a torn ligament in his left thumb. The 32-year-old shooting guard missed Thursday’s game against the Lakers, but has been upgraded to questionable Friday and the Warriors are hoping he’s able to return. Warriors coach Steve Kerr told reporters everyone on the injury report would be available against the Nuggets. Payton II offers minimal fantasy value when healthy.

Payton remains out for another game, but the Warriors’ guard is progressing in his recovery. The Warriors announced that he is now day-to-day moving forward. While this may not be enough to help fantasy managers, and GPII offered minimal value when healthy, getting him back in time for the postseason would benefit the Warriors.

Per Charania, Payton suffered a torn ligament in his left thumb and will be out indefinitely. Only rostered in three percent of Yahoo! leagues, there’s no need for those fantasy managers to hold into Payton with this news. Moses Moody (14 percent rostered) will have added importance within the Warriors’ rotation, even if Stephen Curry (pelvis) can return to action on Friday against the Pelicans.

No specifics were provided regarding Payton’s injury or its severity, but that will change Thursday evening when the Warriors release their injury report for Friday’s game in New Orleans. He has averaged 21.7 minutes per game over the past two weeks, providing 10th-round value in nine-cat formats. Payton’s absence would be most impactful defensively, as he is one of the Warriors’ best defenders. Moses Moody, who’s in the starting lineup, will have added importance as the Warriors move onward without GPII.

The Warriors remain without Stephen Curry (pelvis), but it will not be Quinten Post who replaces him in the starting lineup. Payton II receives the nod, with Green shifting into the starting center role. Payton will likely match up with Tyler Herro, giving the Warriors a defensive boost on the perimeter.

Payton is back after sitting out Thursday’s win over the Raptors. With Stephen Curry (pelvis) out, additional minutes will be available on the perimeter. However, Payton offers limited value to fantasy lineups, as the defensive stopper has been more valuable to the Warriors.

GPII missed Thursday’s game against Toronto, which allowed Jonathan Kuminga and Buddy Hield to fill out most of the reserve perimeter minutes. However, with Stephen Curry out, Payton II’s return would be a welcomed one, and he could slide right into the starting unit.

Payton II has been a consistent producer off the bench for Golden State, but his absence will open up extra minutes for their other reserve guards. Brandin Podziemski and Buddy Hield should see a boost in value with Payton II sidelined.

Payton is dealing with a sore left knee, hence his appearance on the Warriors’ injury report. With Stephen Curry (back) available, there will be fewer minutes available to GPII if he’s allowed to play. Payton has not impacted fantasy basketball most nights, so there’s no need to roster him.

GP2 was one of Golden State’s best sources of offense in the first half, which was a factor in him starting the second half over Quinten Post. 11 of his 18 points came before the break, and while he wasn’t able to match that production in the second half, he was still able to have a productive night. GP2 isn’t known as a reliable option in fantasy basketball, but he has provided fifth-round value in nine-cat leagues. That is enough for him to warrant consideration as a streaming option, especially if Stephen Curry gets a rest night on Tuesday.

GP2 was sidelined against New York on Tuesday due to a nasal fracture, but he was back in the lineup against Brooklyn. Generally, he hasn’t been much of a contributor in fantasy basketball, but he was able to chip in some value off the bench in this game. Brandin Podziemski exited after playing just one minute due to lower back soreness, and while Payton II didn’t start the second half in his place, he was important in helping Golden State get the win. Managers shouldn’t expect this level of production consistently, but it was a nice bonus on a night with only six games.

GP2 missed Tuesday’s win in New York, but after initially being listed as probable to play against Brooklyn, he has officially been cleared. He’ll occupy his typical reserve role, which will likely cut into Kevin Knox II’s minutes.

Payton is set to miss Tuesday’s game against the Knicks with a nasal bone contusion. The 32-year-old shooting guard doesn’t typically have much fantasy value, though he might’ve been in line for a bigger role Tuesday with Stephen Curry (ankle) questionable.

GP2’s impact usually doesn’t show up in the box score, but he played well against Philadelphia. He tied his season-high for points and contributed solid value in rebounds and assists in just 23 minutes. Six of his 15 points came in the final seven minutes of the game to help Golden State keep the game close in the fourth quarter, though they weren’t able to secure the win. This was a strong performance from Payton II, but he isn’t a player to consider rostering in standard leagues.
