Bagley tweaked his ankle during Tuesday’s overtime loss to the 76ers, which was his best game of the season. He’s good to go for Thursday’s game, but Bagley offers limited fantasy upside as long as starter Alex Sarr is healthy.

Coming off his best game of the season, Bagley finds himself on the injury report. If he isn’t able to suit up and fill the backup center minutes behind Alex Sarr, that role will fall to Tristan Vukcevic, though that isn’t enough playing time for him to be worth streaming.

Serving as Alex Sarr’s backup is not a good place for any post player in terms of fantasy value. However, Bagley played well against the 76ers, providing everything but a three-pointer in the overtime defeat. He did take a Joel Embiid elbow to the face during the second quarter, but was back on the floor in the third when Sarr needed a break. There’s no need to add Bagley in fantasy leagues, but there may be times when he has streaming value.

Monday’s game was the second in as many days for the Wizards, resulting in a day off for Alex Sarr. Bagley moved into the starting lineup, and the 2018 lottery pick took advantage of his opportunity. He recorded a double-double in 24 minutes, with the final stat line only missing a three-pointer. Tristan Vukcevic (15/4/3/1 with three three-pointers) also played well, logging 17 minutes off the bench. The backup center competition is unlikely to make waves in fantasy basketball, as Sarr will play significant minutes as the starter. However, Bagley and Vukcevic boast different skill sets, making it possible for both to get their chances during the regular season, depending on the opponent.

The Wizards will go with a new starting lineup on Monday, choosing to rest several key players on the second night of a back-to-back. This includes Alex Sarr, who had missed the start of training camp due to a calf injury. Nevertheless, Washington will bump Champagnie, Johnson, and Bagley III into the starting lineup as it looks to secure its first preseason win.

Bagley began last season with the Wizards before being traded to Memphis at the February deadline. He’s back in the nation’s capital on a one-year deal, providing additional frontcourt depth. Bagley only averaged 8.5 minutes per game last season and may be in line for a similar role, especially as the Wizards continue to develop 2024 lottery pick Alex Sarr. Unless there are injuries throughout the season, Bagley is not a player who should be selected in most fantasy drafts.

Bagley was the Grizzlies’ only bright spot on offense in Game 1. The reserve big was perfect from the field and got plenty of burn in a game that was out of reach for his team early on. Whether he can earn more minutes moving forward remains to be seen. He’ll likely get less of an opportunity if Game 2 is closer.

With Bagley and Lamar Stevens (31 points) putting up at least 25 points each, a franchise-record 12 players have accomplished that feat this season. Bagley started for Zach Edey and had a big afternoon as a scorer and rebounder. He’s unlikely to provide much value off the bench in the postseason, but Sunday’s performance may improve Bagley’s prospects for the 2025-26 campaign.

Bagley is back after sitting out the Grizzlies’ last two games. While he can provide additional depth off the bench, that isn’t enough to make him a player worth rostering in most fantasy leagues.

Bagley remains out due to the league’s concussion protocol. His continued absence does not impact fantasy basketball, as injuries have kept him out of the Grizzlies’ rotation.

Bagley has played more than five minutes just twice since being traded to Memphis at the deadline. His absence will take away from their frontcourt depth, but it won’t have a dramatic impact on the team’s rotation.
