As was the case in the first meeting between the two teams on January 5, Jenkins provided the Pistons with solid contributions off the bench in Friday’s blowout of the Knicks. Active for the 50th game this season, the second-year guard’s 18 points matched his tally in a February 1 win over the Nets. It was reported before Friday’s game that the Pistons are converting Jenkins to a standard contract, and with good reason. While he may not be a significant factor in redraft leagues, the guard is worth stashing in deeper dynasty leagues.

Jenkins was running up on his 50-game limit as a two-way contract player, so the Pistons needed to get something done. Friday’s game against the Knicks is the 50th that he has been active for this season. The expectation is that Jenkins’ contract will be finalized in time for Monday’s game against the Hornets.

This is not an injury designation. Jenkins has played 49 games for the Pistons so far this season, and players on two-way contracts are limited to 50 games played during the regular season. The Pistons are likely holding Jenkins out to preserve his eligibility while working on signing him to a standard contract. Once the trade deadline is finished, we should have a better idea of how the Pistons will be able to convert his contract.

Jenkins played 20 minutes off the bench in the Pistons’ 53-point drubbing of the Nets on Sunday. The 24-year-old guard is still on a two-way contract, though he’s been assured a standard contract from the Pistons is coming soon. Jenkins was efficient with 18 points on nine attempts. The Pistons have three games in Week 16, starting with a matchup against the Nuggets on Tuesday.

Due to Cade Cunningham being out, Jenkins made his seventh start of the season on Wednesday. As has been the case on multiple occasions this season, the second-year guard answered when his name was called. All that Jenkins’ stat line missed was a blocked shot. If Cunningham misses more time, the former St. John’s standout will be worth streaming in deep leagues.

The Pistons are without Cade Cunningham for Wednesday’s game, as he’s out due to illness and a hip contusion. Jenkins will receive the starting nod, but there should also be a few more minutes available to Jaden Ivey. Jenkins is worth streaming in deep leagues, especially for managers seeking assist production.

While Jaden Ivey was the pick to replace the injured Cade Cunningham in the Pistons’ lineup, the star guard’s absence also boosted Jenkins’ value in the short term. The second-year guard did not shoot the ball well, but he did rack up a career-high 15 assists. Jenkins, who is still on a two-way deal, has a limited long-term fantasy ceiling for that reason and Detroit’s perimeter depth. However, one can argue that he’s played well enough to deserve a standard deal, whether it’s in Detroit or elsewhere.

With Tobias Harris and Jalen Duren out due to injury, the Pistons needed someone to step up offensively. Enter Jenkins, who had the most prolific quarter for a bench player in franchise history on Sunday. Shooting 6-of-6 from beyond the arc, the second-year guard scored 21 points in the second quarter. Jenkins did not offer much scoring in the second half, but the second quarter enabled Detroit to bounce back from a slow start, with the Pistons scoring 47 points in the frame.

With Duncan Robinson (ankle) sidelined for the first time this season, Jenkins was able to get the starting nod. He was able to provide rebounds and assists, but it was a rough shooting night for him. He missed all eight of his shots from deep and both of his free throws. Jenkins has typically been productive as a starter, so this performance shouldn’t make anyone shy away from him as a streamer next time he gets to start.

With Duncan Robinson (ankle) missing a game for the first time this season, Jenkins will return to the starting lineup. Jenkins was elite as a starter in place of Cunningham earlier this year, and while he won’t see the same boost as a fill-in for Robinson, he should still be worth streaming. Duren’s return also pushes Isaiah Stewart back to the bench.

Both Cade Cunningham (hip) and Ausar Thompson (ankle) returned for this game, but Jenkins remained a starter. He has played really well and certainly earned it, but Thompson returning from a four-game absence was also a factor. Jenkins should still be part of the rotation, but it is unlikely that he remains in the starting unit, much longer, especially with Jaden Ivey (knee) getting closer to a return.

Cunningham is back in the Pistons’ lineup after missing three games with a hip injury. However, his return will not push Jenkins to the bench. They’ll start alongside each other, with Ron Holland being the player who will come off the bench. Ausar Thompson is also available, but he’ll come off the bench in his first game back.

Jenkins moved into the starting lineup with Cade Cunningham (hip) out Monday. The 24-year-old point guard, who’s still on a two-way contract, dropped 26 points and had eight assists against the Pacers. Jenkins continues to impress when given the opportunity this year. He has the look of a player that’s earned a standard contract and will stick around even when the Pistons get healthy.

Jenkins was once again a factor for the Pistons on their nine-game winning streak. The 24-year-old point guard made five three-pointers and had eight assists. Over the last three games, Jenkins is averaging 20.3 points, 7.7 assists and 5.0 rebounds. He’s shown more than any Pistons backup point guard in years and is trending towards having earned a standard contract. Jenkins is worth rostering given the Pistons’ precarious health situation.

With Cade Cunningham (hip) ruled out less than an hour before tipoff, Jenkins was called on to make his first start in 14 appearances as an NBA player. He was up to the task, not only recording a career-high in assists but hitting double digits in that category for the first time. Jenkins only committed three turnovers, stepping up in a big way for the few fantasy managers willing to slot him into their lineups.

Due to their many absences, the Pistons are rolling out a lineup that has shared the court for a total of zero minutes. Jenkins and Reed join the starters, filling in for Cade Cunningham and Jalen Duren. And they’re worth streaming in this spot, as the Pistons are also without Tobias Harris and Isaiah Stewart.

Jenkins turned out to be the big winner from the Pistons missing multiple starters on Monday against the Wizards. Ron Holland got another start, but only played 24 minutes while Javonte Green and Jenkins each played at least 34 minutes. Jenkins could be in line for a similar role on Wednesday against the Bulls depending on who can return from the injured list for the Pistons.

Jenkins, who spent last season on a two-way deal with Detroit, will return to the team on another two-way contract after shining during summer league. Jenkins only appeared in seven games last season and will likely spend most of next year in the G League once again.

After spending last season with the Pistons on a two-way contract, Jenkins is a free agent this summer. And with Detroit having one two-way slot available, he’s among the players competing for that opportunity. Performances like the one he produced on Sunday will only help Jenkins’ chances of earning another deal, whether with Detroit or another team. This won’t impact fantasy basketball, but Jenkins’ play in Las Vegas will impact how the Pistons finalize their training camp roster.
