Johnson’s meteoric rise continues as he steps into an expanded role for the Hawks from a facilitating and scoring standpoint with Trae Young no longer in the picture following his trade to Washington earlier this week. The 24-year-old snapped out of a brief cold spell in this one, finishing just shy of his eighth 30-point outing of the season while drilling a season-high five three-pointers and shooting a blistering 67 percent from the floor. He’ll be the straw that stirs the drink for Atlanta until further notice.

It was an inefficient night for Johnson, but he was still able to pour in the counting stats, which works out well for fantasy managers. He has still been one of the best players in fantasy basketball this season since subpar shooting nights like this haven’t happened often, though the turnovers have been plentiful all season. He’ll look to get back on track against the Pelicans on Wednesday.

It’s become abundantly clear that Atlanta’s offense will continue to run through Johnson even with Trae Young back in the mix. He’s eclipsed 20 points in seven of his last nine games since December 18. The 24-year-old rising star has contributed first-round fantasy value this season, averaging 24.0 points, 10.2 rebounds, 8.2 assists, 1.4 steals and 0.5 blocks through 33 games. The Hawks are in line for a rematch against the Raptors on Monday before facing the Pelicans, Nuggets and Warriors to close out a four-game week.

After recording a double-double in seven straight appearances, Johnson posted his first triple-double since December 14, which was part of a streak of four consecutive triple-doubles. While the Hawks forward has been elite all season long, it’s no secret that his fantasy ceiling is raised when Trae Young (quad) is unavailable. Not only should Johnson be mentioned among the leading candidates for Most Improved Player, but he has also played well enough to deserve a trip to the All-Star Game.

These monster nights are becoming routine for Johnson. He missed Monday’s game with an illness, but the effects clearly didn’t linger enough to limit his production in this one. Johnson has been one of the best players in fantasy basketball this season, and while his production hasn’t been limited when Trae Young is available, he has been at his best when Young isn’t playing. He’ll look to remain hot in New York on Friday.

Johnson will be back following a one-game absence against the Thunder on Monday. Vit Krejci started in his place but will return to playing a significant reserve role with Johnson back in the lineup. Asa Newell and Mouhamed Gueye will also likely lose out on minutes.

The Hawks will be without their most productive fantasy option when they face the reigning champs on Monday. Johnson’s absence opens a massive hole in Atlanta’s rotation, especially with Kristaps Porziņǵis (illness) also out. Vit Krejčí should figure more prominently in the rotation, and there should also be more minutes available to Mouhamed Gueye. Krejčí is worth a look for those needing three-point production.

Finishing one rebound shy of a triple-double is becoming a habit for Johnson, who did so for a third consecutive game on Saturday. While the Hawks have now lost six straight games, the good news for fantasy managers is that the return of Trae Young (nine points, 10 assists and two steals) has not negatively affected Johnson’s fantasy value. Over the past two weeks, the Hawks’ forward has been a top-10 player in eight-cat formats.

Johnson finished one rebound shy of a triple-double for the second straight game, leaving his total at six on the season. The good news for those who have the Hawks forward rostered is that Trae Young’s return from a knee injury has not negatively affected Johnson’s fantasy value. Over the last week, he has ranked third in eight-cat formats, even higher than his season-long value. Johnson’s sell-high window slammed shut long ago; if you have him, hold onto the forward and continue to reap the rewards.

Johnson fell one rebound shy of a triple-double just two days after finishing one assist shy of one. Both were also one-possession losses to the Bulls. Even with Trae Young (knee) back, Johnson continues to stuff the stat sheet and be one of the best players in fantasy basketball. In the three games Trae has played since returning, Johnson is averaging 34.3 points, 10.3 rebounds and 9.3 assists per game. That may not hold, but he clearly won’t see his value tank with Young back.

Johnson buried a three-pointer in the final seconds to pull Atlanta within one point but they were unable to complete the comeback as Trae Young’s potential game-tying jumper rimmed out as time expired. The 24-year-old offensive catalyst has been one of the most impactful all-around fantasy contributors this season, delivering 23.8 points, 10.5 rebounds, 8.2 assists, 1.5 steals and 0.4 blocks through 27 games. His ascension to elite fantasy status doesn’t appear to be a mirage.

24 hours after setting a new career high with 43 points, Johnson wasn’t able to keep his hot streak going. This was his ninth straight game with a double-double, but he had his fewest assists in a game since Nov. 7, and he set a new season high for turnovers. This was a subpar performance for Johnson when compared to what he’s done recently, and he’ll look to get back on track against the Bulls on Sunday.

Johnson’s 43 points were a career-high. Just as impressive as the 43 points alone is that Johnson also had 11 rebounds and nine assists, falling just shy of a triple-double. The 24-year-old small forward is turning into a superstar. His usage wasn’t impacted by Trae Young’s return as Young played only 20 minutes.

With his most recent triple-double, Johnson made history on Sunday. He’s now up to eight in his career, passing Mookie Blaylock (seven) for the most in franchise history. Also, Johnson’s streak of four straight triple-doubles ties him with Denver’s Nikola Jokić for the longest current run in the NBA. While there is some fear that Trae Young’s eventual return from a knee injury may lower Johnson’s ceiling, fantasy managers should not panic. The Hawks play three games in Week 9, starting with Charlotte on Thursday.

Johnson’s triple-double streak stayed alive on Friday as the versatile forward was able to extend the streak to three games, despite being on the wrong end of a blowout loss. He still logged 34 minutes, which he utilized to finish as the Hawks’ leading rebounder and playmaker on the night. The triple-double also marked his fourth in the past six games. Johnson is enjoying a career-best season in terms of his averages per game across the three major categories, and has been one of the best forwards in fantasy basketball leagues up to this point in the season.

Johnson’s metamorphosis into one of the league’s most impactful all-around contributors continued in this one, as he recorded his second straight triple-double and his fourth in his last 12 games. The 24-year-old has operated as Atlanta’s primary offensive catalyst all season, delivering bona fide first-round fantasy value. He’s averaging a ridiculous 26.4 points, 12.0 rebounds, 10.3 assists, 1.3 steals and 0.4 blocks over his last seven contests. Are you not entertained? The Hawks are off until Friday when they face the Pistons before closing out a brief two-game week with a home tilt against the 76ers.

Johnson became the first player in Hawks history to record a triple-double in a single half. He wasn’t quite as productive in the second half, but he was still able to set a new career high for assists and match his career high for rebounds. Johnson missed Wednesday’s game due to right calf tightness, and he was questionable to play in this one. It didn’t seem to bother him, but there is certainly a chance he is back on the injury report ahead of Saturday’s game against the Wizards since it is the second of a back-to-back.

Johnson will be back after a one-game absence. Mouhamed Gueye started that game in his place, but he will return to a reserve role for this one. This is the first night of a back-to-back, so don’t be surprised if Johnson is back on the injury report ahead Saturday’s game against the Wizards.

Due to right calf tightness, Johnson was held out of Wednesday’s loss to the Clippers. Mouhamed Gueye replaced him in the starting lineup but did not offer much value, going scoreless in 23 minutes. Gueye may get another start if Johnson can’t play against the Nuggets, but there’s no need to consider streaming him.

Initially listed as available for Wednesday’s game, Johnson was downgraded to questionable about an hour before tipoff. He is now officially out. Mouhamed Gueye could be pushed into the starting lineup out of necessity. Getting to start would make Gueye worthy of a look in deep leagues, which has not been the case when he’s come off the bench.

24 hours after scoring a career-best 41 points in a double-overtime win, Johnson was able to turn in another masterclass performance, though it wasn’t enough for Atlanta to add another victory. Johnson has been consistently incredible for fantasy managers, and with Trae Young (knee) still a couple weeks away, he’ll continue to be a fantasy superstar. Next up on the schedule is the Clippers on Wednesday,

Two days after recording a triple-double, Johnson set a new career high for scoring in a double-overtime win over Philadelphia. It was a spectacular showing, and Johnson was able to make an impact from beyond the arc, at the free throw line and at the rim to help the Hawks move to 13-8. With Trae Young (knee) set to miss at least two more weeks, Johnson will continue to be the star of the show. Johnson has been one of the best players in fantasy basketball this season, which will continue during Atlanta’s upcoming four-game week.

Coming off his worst performance of the season in a blowout loss to the Wizards, Johnson was able to respond in a big way. His second triple-double of the season also featured his second-best mark for both points and assists this year. Johnson has been a fantasy superstar this year, and the return of Trae Young (knee) shouldn’t drop his production significantly.

Johnson once again flirted with a triple-double, finishing two rebounds shy of the feat against the Hornets. Sunday’s performance certainly ranks among his most impressive this season, as the versatile forward dropped a robust stat line without committing a turnover. Johnson has taken advantage of the increased opportunities to serve as a primary playmaker since Trae Young went down with a knee injury, providing first-round value in eight- and nine-cat formats. And Tuesday’s matchup with the Wizards looks like another good one for Johnson.

Johnson came up one assist shy of a triple-double as he helped the Hawks snap a two-game losing streak by dismantling a free-falling Pelicans squad. He ripped off nine straight points during a 15–4 second-quarter surge that pushed Atlanta into a double-digit halftime lead. The 23-year-old rising star has delivered first-round fantasy value so far, averaging 22 points, 9.7 boards, 6.7 assists and 1.7 steals through 15 games. Atlanta will look to keep rolling Sunday night against the struggling Hornets on the second leg of a back-to-back.

Johnson recorded his seventh double-double of the season on Thursday, finishing three assists shy of his second triple-double. Since Halloween, he has been a top-10 player in eight- and nine-cat formats, providing elite fantasy value when the Hawks play without Trae Young (knee). While some may be concerned about what happens with Johnson once Young returns, it’s difficult to envision the Hawks asking him to take a back seat, given how well he’s played.

Even though it wasn’t enough for the Hawks to win, Johnson’s elite stretch has continued. This was his third straight game with at least 25 points, and while his double-double streak came to an end, he came close to recording a triple-double for the second time in three games. Johnson has been a top-five player in fantasy basketball over the past two weeks, and he’ll continue to produce to that level as long as Trae Young (knee) remains sidelined.

Johnson continues to flourish for the Hawks and for fantasy managers, recording his sixth double-double of the season on Sunday. Closing in on averaging a double-double, he’s providing first-round value in nine-cat formats. Regardless of Trae Young’s availability, Johnson has been elite. However, the point guard’s absence has put the ball in Johnson’s hands more, much to the delight of those who have him rostered.

Johnson was dominant in this game, recording the third triple-double of his career and his first of the season. On top of that, he set new career-highs for points, rebounds, assists and steals while matching his career-high for three-pointers. Usually it’s difficult to say if a game is truly the best of a player’s career, but it doesn’t feel hyperbolic to say that for Johnson. He started to break out last season, but shoulder injuries cut his year short. Now, he’s healthy enough to put the league on notice, and the absence of Trae Young (knee) has allowed Johnson to see a bump in usage. With Young likely still a few weeks away from returning, Johnson will continue to run the show in Atlanta, which should lead to more elite production from him. What will be interesting to see is how this team adjusts to Young’s return; the Hawks have the second-best defensive rating in the league in the month of November and have won four in a row without him.

Johnson was nearly perfect from the floor on Wednesday. He connected on all but one of his 10 shot attempts and made all of his free throws before finishing as one of two Hawks players to score at least 20 points. In addition to his scoring, Johnson led the Hawks in rebounds and tied a team-high in assists, ultimately falling two assists shy of a triple-double. Johnson needed just 24 minutes of game action to log this stellar final stat line.
