The rookie has been solid all season, but he was able to match his career high for rebounds in this game and score in double figures for the first time since December. James has been an impressive rookie, especially for a second-round pick. However, that hasn’t led to much fantasy production. This was a strong outing, but he isn’t worth rostering in standard leagues.

James will start in place of Grant Williams on the second game of a back-to-back for the Hornets. Charlotte, one of the hottest teams in basketball, will look to avoid consecutive losses, which haven’t happened since the beginning of January. The Hornets are currently 10th in the Eastern Conference standings but just a half-game behind the Hawks for 9th place.

The Hornets’ decision to bring LaMelo Ball off the bench is a form of injury management without holding him out for the entire game. Fantasy managers should still slot Ball into their lineups, but his fantasy value does take a slight hit with the change. With the Hornets visiting Orlando on Thursday, James may be bumped back to the bench for that one.

While LaMelo Ball is available, Saturday’s game is the first of two in as many nights. For injury management reasons, he’ll come off the bench, with James moving into the starting five. The other change is Kalkbrenner, who’s starting in place of the injured Moussa Diabaté (hamstring).

The Hornets are without Kon Knueppel for Monday’s game, as he sprained his right ankle during Friday’s game against the Magic. Fellow rookie James moves into the starting lineup, but he’s more valuable to the Hornets defensively than he is to fantasy basketball.

James is good to go after initially being questionable for Monday’s game. With fellow rookie Kon Knueppel (ankle) out, James may move into the Hornets’ starting lineup due to his defensive ability. James hasn’t done enough this season to merit trust in most redraft leagues, but he should be rostered in dynasty formats.

When the Hornets’ rotation is at full strength, James’ potential absence would not significantly affect fantasy basketball. However, with Kon Knueppel (ankle) out, there’s a chance that James will start if he can play. If not, Collin Sexton may be the next man up, raising his fantasy ceiling.

With Charlotte thin in the frontcourt, James will run with the first unit on Sunday. He’s a serviceable streamer for managers in need of guard stats, and he should handle a sizeable workload while LaMelo Ball, Tre Mann and Collin Sexton are out.

With Brandon Miller sidelined due to left shoulder soreness, James will return to the starting lineup. The second-round rookie has played well, but that hasn’t led to much fantasy production. That will likely hold true in this game, especially with the rest of the starters healthy.

James is available after being listed as probable with left groin soreness. The 22-year-old shooting guard doesn’t have much of a path towards fantasy value with Brandon Miller (shoulder) off the injury report and set to return against the Clippers on Saturday. James can be left on the waiver wire at this point.

James is dealing with a sore left groin, but the probable tag suggests he’ll ultimately be available. However, Brandon Miller (shoulder) is off the injury report, which eliminates most of James’ fantasy value, if not all of it. There may come a time later in the season when James has to be rostered, but that isn’t the case currently.

In addition to Brandon Miller, the Hornets will be without LaMelo Ball (ankle) for Sunday’s game. James, a solid defender who has provided limited offensive value, will replace him in the lineup. Tre Mann’s playing time should increase, but coming off the bench limits his streaming ceiling.

The Hornets will start three rookies for the first time in franchise history. While James isn’t the scorer that Collin Sexton is, the rookie is a superior defender. The second-round pick joins his college teammate Knueppel and fellow second-round pick Kalkbrenner in the starting lineup. Sexton can still provide fantasy value off the bench, but his ceiling is lowered with the change.
