With Jalen Suggs (knee) sidelined for the second leg of Orlando’s back-to-back, Jones gets the starting nod at point guard. The rest of the rotation will remain the same. Jones will match up with his brother Tre, who is starting for Chicago while Coby White is out.

The Magic needed to improve their depth at point guard, and signing Jones accomplishes that objective. His one season in Phoenix was a disappointment, with the veteran guard being moved out of the starting lineup for good in mid-March. Appearing in 81 games, Jones averaged 10.2 points, 2.4 rebounds, 5.3 assists and 2.0 three-pointers in 26.8 minutes. In Orlando, he’ll likely serve as Jalen Suggs’ backup, but there may be opportunities for streaming value due to Jalen’s injury history.

Jones finished his first season in Phoenix with a solid effort on Sunday. However, this was a disappointing campaign for a player believed to be the answer for the Suns at point guard. Jones fell out of the starting lineup in late February, with Sunday’s start being one of two he made over the season’s final six weeks. A 12th-round player in nine-cat formats because of his high assist-to-turnover ratio, Jones was ranked outside the top-150 in eight-cat. Depending on what the Suns’ roster looks like next season, Tyus will be a late-round option at best in standard league drafts.

While he hasn’t been much of an asset in fantasy leagues since the All-Star break, Jones is capable of the occasional big night. Friday was one of those occasions, as he shot 6-of-6 from beyond the arc. The six triples matched Jones’ season-high, and this was his first 20-point effort since New Year’s Eve. Tyus’ hot shooting helped supplement Bradley Beal’s production, as he finished with 15 points, three rebounds, two assists, one steal and four three-pointers in 26 minutes. As long as Beal remains the preferred option to start, there won’t be much to gain from rostering Jones in most leagues.

With Monday’s game being the Suns’ second in as many nights, Bradley Beal (calf) will not play. Jones returns to the starting lineup in a change that raises his fantasy ceiling considerably. The other four starters are unchanged.

Jones reclaimed his starting gig with Bradley Beal on the sidelines, and he certainly made the most of his opportunity. The assists were a game high, and the three-pointers were his most since he knocked down five against the Clippers on January 27. The Suns have a quick turnaround with a rematch set for Friday night against New Orleans. If he’s back with the first unit, Jones will look to build on Thursday’s big performance.

Jones has come off the bench in each of the Suns’ last three games, but he’ll replace the injured Bradley Beal in the starting five. Jones has averaged 10.9 points and 5.9 dimes across 54 starts this season.
