Despite the defeat, the Hornets had to be thrilled by what they saw from Knueppel on Friday. While he was efficient in recording a career-high point total, the rookie also did a good job of helping Charlotte compensate for LaMelo Ball’s absence. Knueppel matched his season-high in assists while committing only two turnovers. He’s still rostered in 50 percent of Yahoo! leagues, which is too low for a rookie of Knueppel’s caliber.

There must be something about the Knicks that doesn’t agree with Knueppel, as he has struggled from three in both meetings. After missing all seven of his attempts in a November 26 loss to New York, he made one of his six attempts on Wednesday. Fantasy managers did receive solid value in the rebound and assist categories, but the rookie’s field-goal percentage took a hit. The good news is that nights like Wednesday have not been the norm for Knueppel, who was named Eastern Conference Rookie of the Month at the beginning of the week.

Over his last two games, Knueppel has shot 8-of-16 from beyond the arc. While fantasy managers in category leagues would like to see some defensive production from the rookie, he has been one of the most productive first-year players in the NBA this season. And over the past two weeks, Knueppel has been a sixth-round player in nine-cat formats. He continues to exceed his Yahoo! ADP (142) and has been one of the few bright spots for the Hornets this season.

After totaling 18 points on 7-of-26 shooting in his previous two games, Knueppel got back on track Saturday night. The rookie has scored at least 20 points in ten of his 19 appearances, and that production has placed Knueppel among the best rookies in the NBA, if not at the top of that list. Given the recent injury issues for LaMelo Ball and Brandon Miller, Knueppel boasts a high ceiling in redraft leagues. The Hornets play four games during Week 7, starting with the Nets on Monday.

Wednesday’s game qualifies as Knueppel’s worst as a pro. The rookie shot 0-of-7 from beyond the arc and made one shot apiece in the first and fourth quarters. The good news for fantasy managers is that nights like Wednesday have not been the norm for Knueppel, who remains the most productive rookie in this current class. He’ll look to bounce back when the Hornets face the Bulls on Friday in both teams’ NBA Cup finale.

One month into the season, and Knueppel has a strong case for being the league’s best rookie. He had another excellent night on Sunday, hitting a season-high seven three-pointers and shooting over 50 percent from the field. While Charlotte lost both games of its weekend back-to-back, Knueppel put up 54 points and shot 13-of-20 from three. He’s closing in on top-50 value in eight- and nine-cat formats, outperforming his Yahoo! ADP (142) by a significant distance. Charlotte has three games in Week 6, starting with the Knicks on Wednesday.

Knueppel had eight rebounds and seven assists the game against the Pacers on Wednesday, but had just one rebound and one assist against the Clippers on Saturday. The 20-year-old shooting guard had 26 points and made six three-pointers in the loss. Knueppel led the Hornets with 34 minutes in Brandon Miller’s (shoulder) return game.

Knueppel played at least 40 minutes, had at least 28 points and made at least four three-pointers for the second time in his last four games. The 20-year-old shooting guard is off to a tremendous start to his career, certainly putting himself in the Rookie of the Year race. Brandon Miller’s impending return could cut into Knueppel’s usage a little bit, but not a significant amount.

Knueppel continues to play well with Brandon Miller (shoulder) out of the lineup. The 20-year-old rookie shooting guard had at least 24 points and four three-pointers for the second time in his last three games. Knueppel could lose minutes to Miller once he returns, but he’s played well enough to start his career that the Hornets will continue to give him opportunities.

Knueppel entered this game on a tear, but the odds were stacked against him in this one. LaMelo Ball sat out the second leg of the back-to-back. They went to overtime on Friday and had to travel back from Milwaukee to play. Oh, and the Thunder are the best defense in the league. It was a rough night for Knueppel, but there isn’t a reason to be concerned about the rookie. He’s had a spectacular year, and he’ll look to get back on track against the Raptors on Monday.

In his last six games, Knueppel has scored at least 30 points twice, had a double-double and come one assist away from a triple-double. The 20-year-old small forward appears to be coming into his own. With Brandon Miller out of the lineup, Knueppel’s usage has taken off. He’s been much too valuable to still be available in most Yahoo! leagues.

Knueppel continues to provide solid offensive production, having reached double figures in five consecutive games. In the nine games he’s played since Charlotte lost Brandon Miller to a shoulder injury, the rookie has averaged 17.6 points, 6.9 rebounds, 3.2 assists, 0.7 steals and 3.2 three-pointers, shooting 43.4 percent from the field and 92.0 percent from the foul line. Knueppel has been close to a top-75 player during this stretch, yet he’s still rostered in 41 percent of Yahoo! leagues. That percentage should be higher.

Given their respective Yahoo! ADPs, few fantasy managers expected Knueppel to outperform college teammate Cooper Flagg. There’s still a lot of basketball to be played by both, but the Hornets have to be thrilled with what they’ve seen from Knueppel. The rookie finished Monday’s game one assist shy of his first triple-double, and he was efficient in putting up those numbers. Knueppel’s rostered in just 37 percent of Yahoo! leagues, which is way too low given his production and his place in the Hornets’ rotation. Especially with LaMelo Ball and Brandon Miller out due to injury.

Knueppel’s field goal percentage wasn’t great, but that is not a big deal given the overall production. The rookie notched his first 30-point game and a complete stat line, putting up 23 shots on a night when the Hornets were without LaMelo Ball and Collin Sexton. Even when those two return, Knueppel will be in the starting lineup, and he should probably be rostered in a higher percentage of fantasy leagues. He’s currently rostered in 28 percent of Yahoo! leagues.

Knueppel eclipsed 20 points for the second straight contest with both LaMelo Ball (ankle) and Brandon Miller (shoulder) sidelined with injuries. The 20-year-old lottery pick connected on just three of 10 three-point attempts in this one, but went 4-for-6 inside the arc. He’s been a nice addition for fantasy managers in deeper leagues as he’s shown some scoring and rebounding upside in the early stages of his rookie campaign.

Knueppel bounced back from consecutive five-point performances to log a career-high in points and record his second game of at least 20 points this season. As was the case in his previous season-high, three-point shooting was a major factor — the rookie guard was electric from beyond the arc and led his team in that specific category. Knueppel also made an impact as a facilitator, giving him his most balanced offensive performance yet. He’ll have a chance to build off of Sunday’s momentum on Tuesday against the Pelicans.

Offense has not been an issue for Knueppel thus far, with the rookie averaging 16.0 points per game. However, he isn’t a defender who’s going to provide consistent numbers on that end of the floor (two steals and no blocks in four games), and he’s shooting just 50 percent from the foul line. While the foul shooting is unlikely to be a long-term issue for Knueppel, the lack of defensive stats may limit his fantasy ceiling in the short term.

Knueppel started and played 35 minutes with Brandon Miller (shoulder) out against the Wizards on Sunday. The 20-year-old rookie made the most of his opportunity with 20 points, six rebounds and five made three-pointers. Knueppel isn’t going to contribute much in the other categories and his minutes could fluctuate this season, but the scoring ability has been apparent in the early going.

The Hornets are without Brandon Miller for Sunday’s game, with Knueppel filling the vacancy. A starter in the season opener, the lottery pick out of Duke was replaced in the lineup by Sexton for Saturday’s loss to the 76ers. The other four starters are unchanged, with Ball playing both ends of Charlotte’s first back-to-back of the season.
