Against the Knicks on Wednesday, Hornets coach Charles Lee made the switch to bump Kalkbrenner to the bench and start Moussa Diabaté. That only lasted one game and was likely to have a better matchup against Karl-Anthony Towns. Kalkbrenner returned to the starting lineup for this game and played 26 minutes while Diabaté logged 16 minutes. Kalkbrenner should start most of Charlotte’s games for the rest of the season.

Miller’s return will unsurprisingly push Sion James back to the bench. Also, after a one-game swap, Moussa Diabaté will head back to the bench, with Kalkbrenner returning to the starting lineup, though both bigs will continue to split the minutes at center.

The rookie center was upgraded from questionable to available ahead of Friday’s contest against the Raptors. He has started 19 of the 20 games he’s appeared in, but came off the bench in his most recent appearance. He’s averaging 9.0 points and 6.8 rebounds per game so far and should see similar production regardless of whether he comes off the bench or starts.

Kalkbrenner injured his ankle during Wednesday’s loss to the Knicks and exited in the fourth quarter. Moussa Diabaté was the starting center in that contest, and he could retain the role on Friday, even if Kalkbrenner is available. If Kalkbrenner does not play, there may be times when the Hornets go small and give Tidjane Salaün a few more minutes off the bench, leaving Mason Plumlee out of the rotation entirely.

Kalkbrenner did not start Wednesday’s game, with Moussa Diabaté (two points, eight rebounds, two assists and one steal in 20 minutes) replacing him in the starting lineup. While the rookie still played more minutes, logging 25, his night ended prematurely due to a sprained left ankle. As a result, another start could be in the cards for Diabaté. As for who would round out the rotation if Kalkbrenner misses time, Tidjane Salaün (13 points, four rebounds, one steal and three three-pointers) was the choice to replace Diabaté after he picked up two early fouls, not Kalkbrenner.

Kalkbrenner (ankle) returns from a one-game absence to reclaim his spot in the Hornets’ starting rotation. As a result, veteran center Mason Plumlee will head back to the bench. Likewise, Ball (ankle) is available after missing the Hornets’ loss on Sunday to the Hawks. Charlotte has lost nine of its last 10 games and will look to end its current six-game losing streak.

Kalkbrenner did not play in Sunday’s loss to the Hawks, with Mason Plumlee replacing him in the starting lineup. Moussa Diabaté will also have a lower fantasy ceiling since Kalkbrenner is back in the starting five.

Kalkbrenner is officially out for Sunday’s game after spraining his left ankle on Saturday. Moussa Diabaté is worth streaming as the rookie’s replacement in the starting lineup. Mason Plumlee will take on the backup role, but he’s unlikely to provide enough value to merit rostering.

Kalkbrenner sprained his left ankle during the first half of Saturday’s loss to the Clippers, so the initial “questionable” tag was somewhat surprising. With the downgrade in status, the rookie is trending toward not playing against Atlanta. If so, the Hornets will rely on Moussa Diabaté and Mason Plumlee at the center position.

Kalkbrenner exited Saturday’s loss to the Clippers during the first half with a sprained left ankle, playing 11 minutes as a result. If he can’t play on Sunday, Moussa Diabaté would move into the starting lineup, with Mason Plumlee moving up a spot in the center rotation as well.

Kalkbrenner started and had just two points in 11 minutes before departing with an ankle injury. While there’s no word on the exact severity of the injury yet, the 23-year-old center was quickly ruled out for the rest of the game Moussa Diabate will fill in for Kalkbrenner the rest of the way and would be a priority add for fantasy managers if the injury proves to be significant.

Kalkbrenner, who started Wednesday’s home game against the Bucks after the birth of his child, did not travel with the team for Friday’s rematch in Milwaukee. He’s good to go for Saturday’s matchup with the reigning champs, which means Moussa Diabaté will return to the bench. It also means that Mason Plumlee falls out of the rotation entirely. Deep-league managers who have Diabaté rostered should hold onto him.

Kalkbrenner was available to play against Milwaukee on Wednesday just hours after his wife gave birth to their daughter. However, he won’t be available for the rematch on Friday. Moussa Diabaté should start at center, while Mason Plumlee will fill out the backup center minutes.

Hours after he and his wife welcomed their daughter into the world, Kalkbrenner was occupying his usual spot in the Hornets’ starting lineup. And he did not miss a shot, going 8-of-8 from the field, while also recording four “stocks.” As a result of his play, Kalkbrenner played more minutes than backup Moussa Diabaté (7/13/2/1/1) after failing to do so the last time out. Rostered in 32 percent of Yahoo! leagues, the rookie center is providing top-40 value in eight- and nine-cat formats.

Kalkbrenner and his wife welcomed a new baby girl to the family Wednesday morning. The 23-year-old center is questionable for the game against the Bucks. Moussa Diabaté would likely start if Kalkbrenner isn’t available.

A late addition to the Hornets’ injury report for personal reasons, Kalkbrenner is good to go. He’ll take on his usual role as the starting center, where he’s provided top-75 value in nine-cat formats. Moussa Diabaté misses out on a significant boost to his fantasy value, but his minutes may increase anyway due to Utah’s frontcourt size.

Kalkbrenner is a late addition to the injury report and could certainly miss a game for the first time in his young career. In that scenario, Moussa Diabate would slide into the starting lineup, with Mason Plumlee filling out the backup center minutes.

A late-round pick for many fantasy managers, Kalkbrenner has exceeded expectations thus far by clearly understanding where he’s most valuable. The rookie center shot 8-of-9 from the field on Thursday and is now 27-of-30 for the season. Add in the rebounds and defensive stats, and it isn’t hard to figure out why Kalkbrenner has been close to a top-50 player. As a rookie, he’ll be difficult to “sell high” because of the limited sample size. But that’s alright, as it may be better to hold onto Kalkbrenner for the long haul.

Kalkbrenner has gotten off to a solid start in his rookie season, especially for those who drafted him for defensive reasons. The rookie has accrued four steals and four blocked shots while shooting a staggering 90.5 percent from the field through four games. While Kalkbrenner, who made all five of his shots on Tuesday, is unlikely to maintain that percentage over the long haul, expecting consistent defensive production is realistic. The playing time was just as encouraging on Tuesday, with Kalkbrenner logging a season-high 31 minutes. He’s only rostered in 21 percent of Yahoo! leagues, and the Hornets play three games in the final four days of Week 2.
