While a sprained right thumb was the listed reason for Mathurin’s absence, that isn’t the only injury that he’s dealing with. According to Pacers insider Scott Agness, the wing is also dealing with turf toe. Given where the Pacers are in the standings, there isn’t much reason for Mathurin to rush back. Johnny Furphy, who moved into the starting lineup, and Ben Sheppard are players for deep-league managers to track in Mathurin’s absence.

Mathurin injured his right (shooting) thumb during Friday’s loss to the Spurs, playing 20 minutes as a result. He’ll miss at least one complete game with the injury, leaving the already shorthanded Pacers down one of their better scorers. While Ben Sheppard and Johnny Furphy could play more in Mathurin’s absence, this could also be viewed as an opportunity to get rookie Kam Jones more minutes.

This was the third time Mathurin has attempted at least 13 free throws in a game this season. On October 23 against the Thunder, he made 15-of-17 free throws and on November 17 against the Pistons, he made 8-of-14 free throws. The 23-year-old small forward had 36 and 25 points in those games, respectively. We’ve seen these blips with Mathurin before and the scoring tends to be unsustainable. He’s averaging 18.3 points per game this year and 16.1 for his career. Mathurin remains more of a good scorer than an elite one.

Mathurin put together a monster second half, scoring 23 points on 8-of-11 from the floor, including 3-of-5 from beyond the arc. The 23-year-old impending free agent is still capable of heating up with the best scorers in the league, averaging 18.5 points over 21 games this season.

Mathurin was one of the few bright spots in a low-scoring showdown against the cellar-dwelling Wizards as the Pacers mustered just 89 points in a losing effort. He hit just three of nine from the floor but managed to salvage his box score by getting to the charity stripe for eight free throws. The 23-year-old scoring machine has delivered eighth-round value over the past two weeks, averaging 16.8 points, 5.2 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 0.5 steals and 0.3 blocks over 30 minutes during that six-game sample. The Pacers are off until Thursday when they square off against the Knicks before closing out the week with a road tilt against the Pelicans.

For the first time since the Pacers’ first two games of the season, Mathurin has scored at least 25 points in back-to-back games. He was efficient against the Kings, posting solid percentages and committing only one turnover. Over the past two weeks, Mathurin has provided seventh-round per-game game value in eight-cat formats. The good news for fantasy managers is that the Pacers still have two more games to play in Week 8, starting with the 76ers on Friday.

Mathurin started the season by scoring at least 20 points in five straight games. He followed that up with 14 and 15 points on sub-40 percent shooting over Indiana’s previous two games before getting back on track in this one. Mathurin had high expectations entering this season with Tyrese Haliburton (Achilles) sidelined, and he should be able to supply plenty of buckets for the remainder of the year.

After scoring at least 21 points in his first three games back from injury, Mathurin’s production has slowed down over the last two. Against the Pistons and Raptors, he totaled 29 points on 8-of-28 shooting from the field. While most players would be able to point to three-point shooting as the reason for their woes, that has not been the case for Mathurin, who has gone 3-of-15 (20 percent) from two over this two-game stretch. However, Friday’s game against the Wizards could be the slump-buster for Mathurin, given Washington’s poor defense.

Mathurin returned from a toe injury on Monday against the Pistons and had 25 points in 25 minutes while on a minutes restriction. The 23-year-old small forward scored 24 points in 34 minutes against the Hornets on Wednesday, signaling that he can handle more minutes. It’s just two games, but Mathurin has scored 49 points and grabbed 15 rebounds already this week. After averaging 16.1 points and 5.3 rebounds last year, he could be in for a breakout season.

Mathurin is set to make his return from a toe injury against the Pistons on Monday. The 23-year-old shooting guard participated in a simulated game over the weekend. His return is huge for the Pacers, who’ve been dealt a brutal hand of injuries to start the season. It’s unclear if Mathurin will be on a minutes limit in his first game back.

Mathurin is said to be getting close to returning from his toe injury. His questionable listing for Monday’s game with the Pistons is a step in the right direction even if he’s ultimately ruled out. Mathurin’s return will likely happen at some point in the Pacers’ next few games.

Mathurin participated in a simulated game Saturday morning. He injured his toe during the second game of the season and hasn’t played since. His return would be a welcome one for the Pacers due to the mountain of injuries that continue to pile up.

On October 28, the Pacers referred to Mathurin as week-to-week. He still has not returned with what the injury report calls a “right great toe sprain.” We’ve seen Mathurin shooting in pre-game warmups, so it’s possible that he’s getting close to a return, but the Pacers have yet to provide any sort of timeline.

Mathurin’s lasting injury is another big blow for the Pacers, as he was the team’s leading scorer before getting sidelined. For as long as he’s out, Pascal Siakam will shoulder a heavy load on offense, while Ben Sheppard and RayJ Dennis should see additional playing time.

Injured during Saturday’s loss to the Pacers, Mathurin is wearing a walking boot on his right foot. Once the imaging is done, the Pacers will better understand what steps to take in his recovery. Injuries on the perimeter have decimated Indiana, so they’ll have to rely heavily on Ben Sheppard, RayJ Dennis and forward Pascal Siakam to handle more playmaking responsibilities.

Mathurin, injured during Saturday’s loss to the Grizzlies, has been diagnosed with a left great toe sprain. How much time he’ll miss is unknown, but at a minimum, the Pacers’ guard will not play on Sunday. Look for Ben Sheppard and RayJ Dennis to figure prominently in the rotation due to Indiana’s many injuries on the perimeter. Sheppard isn’t the best streaming option, but he’s worth the risk on Sunday out of necessity.

Mathurin was expected to take a ton of shots this season with Tyrese Haliburton (Achilles) out, and in his season debut, he was able to light up the box score before fouling out. He fell two points shy of matching his career-high. Mathurin should have no issues breaking his previous career-high of 16.7 points per game, which should contribute to the best season of his career. There’s a reason he had a Yahoo! ADP of 92.3, and it’s paying off early.

Mathurin logged his most productive outing of the preseason thus far, eclipsing the 30-point mark on efficient shooting against the Spurs. The fourth-year guard did most of his damage in the first half, where he scored 27 points on 9-of-9 shooting, including four three-pointers. Mathurin, a part-time starter last season, should have an opportunity to see more production and opportunities in Tyrese Haliburton’s absence (leg). He’s likely to begin the season in the starting unit.

Mathurin - who’s in line to start next season - shot 4-of-9 from the field and converted 7-of-9 shots from the charity stripe. He should be a focal point of Indiana’s offense in 2025-26, making him a great target in points leagues.

This isn’t a surprising update, but the confidence from Carlisle to announce this nearly three months before the start of the regular season is a good thing to see. Mathurin averaged 16.7 points, 6.0 rebounds and 1.9 assists in 49 starts last season, and with Tyrese Haliburton (Achilles) expected to miss all of next season, Mathurin will certainly be one of the leading scorers for Indiana, which bodes well for his fantasy upside.

Mathurin led Indiana in scoring and led all players in rebounds, though his -14 in the box score represented the lowest plus-minus of the game. Mathurin’s playoff run was a rollercoaster of ups and downs in minutes and scoring. His highs were high, and his lows were low, and Mathurin scored at least 20 points in four of the final 10 games of the postseason. The third-year man out of Arizona averaged career highs in points (16.1), rebounds (5.3), field goal percentage (45.8) and free throw percentage (83.1) in 2024-25, and he’ll look to improve on those numbers in Year 4.

The Pacers’ bench outscored the Thunder’s 30-11 in the first half of Game 3, which Indiana led by four at halftime, and Mathurin was a big part of that. The 22-year-old small forward’s 27 points were the third most off the bench in NBA Finals history. Mathurin joined Jason Terry and Manu Ginobili as the only bench players to have at least 25 points in an NBA Finals game in the last 25 years. Even more impressive was that Mathurin played only 22 minutes and took just 12 shots. His +16 in his time on the court was a game-high. It was an exceptional effort from the Pacers’ No. 6 overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft.

Mathurin led the Pacers in scoring as Indiana lost Game 5 by 17 points to the Knicks. The 22-year-old played 25 minutes off the bench, by far the most he’s played in these playoffs. Mathurin has scored 43 points in 37 minutes over the last two games. He figures to be involved once again as the Pacers will look to close out the series at home in Game 6 on Saturday.

Mathurin has only played sparingly in these playoffs but gave the Pacers a shot in the arm with his play off the bench in Game 4 on Tuesday. The 22-year-old small forward had 20 points in just 12 minutes off the bench. Mathurin excelled at getting to the free throw line as he made 11-of-12 free throws. Ben Sheppard has cut into Mathurin’s minutes in these playoffs and that will likely continue. While Mathurin was more effective in Game 4, Sheppard has also been a key role player for the Pacers during this playoff run.

Mathurin has been getting into it with De’Andre Hunter all series, and more of the same resulted in an early departure for Mathurin, who scored 23 points in Game 3. Mathurin gave Hunter a shot to the chest, and Hunter retaliated by pushing Mathurin on the ground. Myles Turner gave Hunter a shoulder to defend Mathurin, and both Hunter and Turner were assessed technicals. However, Mathurin, who stood over Hunter after he dislocated his thumb in Game 1, was assessed a Flagrant 2. Ben Sheppard will likely take on extra minutes after Mathurin’s night lasted only one minute.

On Friday, Mathurin was Indiana’s most effective scorer, shooting over 50 percent from the field and reaching double figures for the third straight game. The negative for those viewing his performance through a fantasy lens is that Mathurin did not provide much beyond points, three-pointers and percentages. That was an issue for him in previous seasons, but Mathurin was slightly better during this past regular season. His production will be key in this series regardless of the fantasy implications. Game 4 is on Sunday, with the Pacers holding a 2-1 lead.

Mathurin is available after sitting out Indiana’s Game 4 victory in Milwaukee. His return will likely result in fewer minutes for fellow reserve Ben Sheppard. Sheppard, who re-entered the Pacers’ rotation in Game 3 after Andrew Nembhard landed in early foul trouble, played 22 minutes in Game 4.
