While McCollum is likely to come off the bench in Atlanta, he can provide reliable scoring in that role as the team looks to compensate for Trae Young’s exit. Also, with Zaccharie Risacher unavailable, there may be a few more minutes at McCollum’s disposal.

McCollum is on an expiring contract, and while the Hawks may have interest in keeping him around past this season, his main function in this deal was to help the salaries match up. McCollum’s time with the Wizards lasted 35 games, and he was able to show he’s still a talented scorer. He’ll be a reliable veteran for Atlanta, likely as a reserve. He won’t be as impactful for fantasy managers as he was as a Wizard, but he should be able to help offset some of the offense that the Hawks lose by moving on from Trae.

Washington is on the second leg of a back-to-back set after beating the Magic on Tuesday. George is still without a timeline for return, and the Wizards will unsurprisingly give their two veterans a maintenance day. With the trio sidelined, more minutes should be available for Tre Johnson, Bub Carrington, Corey Kispert and Justin Champagnie.

Despite an excellent first half, McCollum said during his walk-off interview at halftime that he “left some money on the table.” The veteran guard made up for that in the fourth quarter, shooting 4-of-6 from the field to help Washington close out its tenth win of the season. McCollum’s name has come up in connection with Trae Young trade rumors recently, making him a player to watch well ahead of the February trade deadline. The good news for those who have McCollum rostered is that he can still offer solid fantasy value.

McCollum led the way offensively for the Wizards on Sunday, recording his second 20-point game in his last eight appearances. Unfortunately, his ceiling is capped by being on a team whose priority is to give its young players more minutes for development. McCollum has been productive enough to merit being rostered in 12-team leagues, but managers are certainly rooting for him to be moved ahead of the February trade deadline. If not, he could be a shutdown risk. The Wizards begin a four-game Week 12 on Tuesday against the Magic.

McCollum was coming off making a game-winning shot against the Bucks on Wednesday. The 34-year-old shooting guard continues to play at a high level as he led the Wizards to a blowout victory over the Nets Friday. McCollum was +18 in 31 minutes in the 20-point win. While he’s been a solid player this year, the Wizards are still 9-24. It’s fair to wonder if a contender would be interested in acquiring McCollum ahead of next month’s trade deadline.

McCollum had shot just 1-of-4 from the field during the fourth quarter in the lead-up to his game-winning pull-up jumper. Yet, with the dagger, he finished as the team’s third-leading scorer on the night and tallied his seventh straight game with at least 14 points and five assists. The veteran guard isn’t putting up eye-opening stat lines at this point, but he remains very involved on the offensive end on a nightly basis. McCollum should continue to put up solid fantasy numbers so long as he is a Washington Wizard.

While backcourt partner Tre Johnson could not miss from downtown on Monday, making all five of his three-point attempts, McCollum was ice-cold. The veteran guard was 0-of-5 from deep, a negative for what could have been an outstanding offensive night. McCollum is providing 11th-round value in eight- and nine-cat formats, doing enough to provide consistent fantasy value.

McCollum has scored at least 20 points in five of his last eight games. He has been one of the few Wizards to provide consistent fantasy value this season, which is unsurprising, given his career track record. McCollum’s role is secure for now, but his name is one to watch ahead of the February trade deadline. A move to another team may be what ensures the veteran guard of a consistent role through the fantasy playoffs, as that may not be guaranteed if he remains with the rebuilding Wizards.

There isn’t much mystery to McCollum’s game at this advanced stage of his career. He’ll pour in somewhere close to 20 points while chipping in a modest handful of rebounds and assists per-game, but that’s mostly it. The 34-year-old veteran guard offers some value as a low-ceiling, high-floor scoring option but that’s pretty much it these days. He’s been a bit streakier than usual since the start of December but he’s scored at least 22 points in five of eight contests during that span.

McCollum was one of two Wizards players to score over 25 points in the loss. He shot efficiently en route to nearly tallying 30 points, but also contributed as a facilitator in the process. Even with the Wizards’ struggles this season, the veteran guard is still finding ways to produce. His scoring numbers are as low as they’ve been since his sophomore season, but not far off his 21.1/ 3.8/ 4.1 splits last season. He’ll remain a focal point of the Wizards’ offense so long as he’s in the lineup.

There weren’t a ton of bright spots in this one for the Wizards as they fell to 3-19 on the season and dropped their second straight after a brutal 45-point loss at the hands of the Celtics earlier this week. The 34-year-old veteran remains a decent scoring threat for fantasy purposes, averaging 18.6 points through 22 games, but he doesn’t add much else at this advanced juncture of his career. The Wizards are off until Friday when they face the Cavaliers before closing out the week with a road matchup against the Pacers.

McCollum once again led the way offensively for the Wizards, who were on the receiving end of one of the worst beatings in franchise history. And before the NBA season reaches the point where a shutdown is a realistic possibility, the concern for McCollum manager is nights like Thursday. He still played 31 minutes against the Celtics, so all wasn’t lost. But the Wizards being without multiple players capable of trimming the veteran’s workload in a blowout likely ensured that McCollum surpassed 30 minutes.

McCollum hit a clutch triple to give Washington a four-point lead with 15 seconds left in this game to help the Wizards walk away victorious for the third time this year. It has come inconsistently, but McCollum has been much better offensively in recent weeks than he had been to start the year. He’ll look to carry this into the Wizards’ matchup with the 76ers on Tuesday.

The Wizards picked up their first NBA Cup victory in three seasons of the event, and they’ve got the tandem of McCollum and Corey Kispert to thank for that. While the latter had the best quarter of his NBA career, scoring 16 points in the first, McCollum was rolling all night. He scored 27 in the first half, and the final point total was four shy of his career-high. While his season-long fantasy value hasn’t been the best, McCollum has been a top-50 player in nine-cat formats over the past week.

McCollum was the only Wizards player to score 15 or more points on Friday, but this season has been a struggle regarding his fantasy value. Shooting 40.5 percent from the field, which would be the lowest percentage of his career, the veteran guard is ranked outside the top-150 in eight- and nine-cat formats. With the Wizards rebuilding, McCollum’s ceiling is lower, and managers also have to factor in the possibility that his minutes decrease later in the season.

There simply weren’t a ton of bright spots for the Wizards in this one as McCollum was one of just three Wizards in double figures during a one-sided defeat at the hands of the rebuilding Nets. The veteran point guard has scored just 27 points combined over his past two games after exploding for 42 points against the Pistons earlier this week.

McCollum had scored 25 points in each of his last two games enter play Monday and then proceeded to drop 42 points on the Pistons. The 34-year-old shooting guard has made at least five three-pointers in two of his last three games. His recent scoring is a terrific sign that he’s started to turn it around after averaging 14.3 points per game so far this season.

It was a tale of two halves for McCollum. He got off to a scorching hot start to this game, scoring 23 points in the first half alone. That came after he had a season-high 25 points on Friday. He only scored two points after the break, and he wasn’t able to help the Wizards end their losing streak. Still, this two-game stretch was great to see from McCollum after he scored a total of eight points over the two previous games.

Having shot 3-of-19 from the field and 1-of-10 from three in his two previous games, McCollum was looking to snap out of that funk. Mission accomplished, as he shot 50 percent from the field and led the Wizards in scoring. Thirteen of his 16 shot attempts were from beyond the arc, and he has a three-point attempt rate of nearly 55 percent through nine games. When the shots are falling at a solid clip, as they were on Friday, that’s a nice deal for those who have McCollum rostered.

McCollum shot the ball well on Thursday, making five of his eight three-point attempts. Unfortunately, he did not provide much value outside the points and three-pointers. More important than that was McCollum getting untracked shooting-wise, as he’s making just 36.4 percent of his attempts from the field. That’s why he’s ranked outside the top-150 in nine-cat formats.

Averaging 4.3 assists per game entering Tuesday, McCollum notched a season-high in that category against the 76ers. In 56 games for the Pelicans last season, the veteran guard recorded at least seven assists on eight occasions. Bub Carrington (10/5/5/1/1 with two three-pointers) runs the show, but McCollum has the ball in his hands plenty. The lingering concern for fantasy managers is the potential for a late-season shutdown, but there’s little need to lose sleep over that in late October.

McCollum looked good in his final action of the preseason, playing 24 minutes against the Pistons. He and fellow veteran Khris Middleton (3/4/4 in 24 minutes) are in an interesting spot. Under normal circumstances, both would have solid fantasy value as starters. However, with the Wizards rebuilding, it’s fair to wonder how long that will last, and if the team hopes to showcase McCollum and Middleton before the February trade deadline. That question pushes both players down some boards, with McCollum being the superior fantasy option.

In their third and final preseason game, the Wizards will roll out the same five-man unit that they began the preseason with. Thursday’s starting lineup, which features a combination of youth and experienced veterans, could presumably be the same one used on opening night by Washington when it faces Milwaukee on October 22. Given the Wizards have neither played many preseason games nor gotten many reps together thus far, it’ll be interesting to see how much playing time the main rotation players receive against the Pistons.

McCollum looked sharp in his Wizards debut, hitting 7-of-14 shots, including 5-of-9 from beyond the arc. Washington started Alex Sarr, Kyshawn George, Khris Middleton and Bub Carrington, potentially showcasing an opening night starting five. McCollum will likely have the green light on offense, and fantasy managers can expect plenty of points and triples. The Wizards may shift in to tank mode at some point, and McCollum could emerge as a trade target, leaving his overall fantasy floor a bit questionable.

As Charania notes, Washington will pick up McCollum’s expiring deal and position itself to have $100 million in cap space in the summer of 2026. The Wizards will now have veterans McCollum, Khris Middleton, Marcus Smart and Kelly Olynyk on the squad for next season, but it’s fair to assume Washington will focus on developing young players like Bub Carrington, Bilal Coulibaly and Kyshawn George. Still, the Wizards aren’t exactly a deep team, so McCollum could see significant run in the nation’s capital.

McCollum suffered a right foot bone contusion on March 23, and he won’t suit up again this season. He has already missed the Pelicans’ last three games, and there is no reason for him to play through any ailments since their trying to improve their lottery odds. Jose Alvarado will continue to start at point guard for the rest of the season. The veteran guard returned 10th-round value in nine-cat leagues, declining in essentially every area of his game in his age-33 season. McCollum is entering the final year of his contract with the Pelicans in 2025-26 and will probably only amount to a late-round flier in fantasy leagues.

McCollum will miss a third consecutive game with a right foot contusion. Given where the Pelicans are in the standings, there’s no need for him to consider rushing back onto the court. Bruce Brown has taken on a more prominent role within the Pelicans rotation and should be rostered since the Pelicans will also be without Zion Williamson. Jordan Hawkins is also worth a look in deeper leagues.

After scoring 36 points on 14-of-48 shooting in his three games prior, McCollum exploded in Detroit. Recording his first game of 40 points or more since February 13, the veteran guard has met or exceeded that number four times this season. With McCollum being ranked well outside the top 100 in eight- and nine-cat formats over the past two weeks, he needed a day like Sunday to get untracked. Unfortunately, the Pelicans have a small Week 21 slate, with the first of three games scheduled for Monday against the 76ers.
