A big part of Melton’s fantasy appeal is his ability to record complete stat lines. That didn’t happen on Friday, but the Warriors’ guard had one of his best offensive performances of the season. The 19 points were three shy of his season-high, which was recorded on Wednesday against the Bucks. Melton has been a safe bet for assists and defensive stats in the past, so there isn’t too much need for concern following Friday’s lack of numbers in those categories. And he played 19 minutes; if Melton can consistently get closer to 25 minutes, he can be a game-changer down the stretch in fantasy leagues.

Melton’s season-best performance wasn’t highlighted by any extraordinary takeover moments. The veteran guard never scored more than eight points in any quarter; instead, he picked his spots en route to setting a new season-high. Melton got a late start to the season due to a knee injury that kept him out until December. But since returning, he’s had several good scoring performances to boost this Warriors bench. He’ll have a chance to follow up his Wednesday performance with another strong one on Friday against the Kings.

Melton will sit out the first leg of this back-to-back, meaning he should be made available against the Jazz on Saturday. The Warriors are also without Stephen Curry (ankle) and Jimmy Butler (illness) for this game, so there should be plenty of minutes for Brandin Podziemski, Pat Spencer and Gary Payton II.

The Warriors have games on Friday and Saturday, so it’s likely that Melton will only be available for one of them. When he can play, the guard is capable of offering deep-league value, but the Warriors aren’t going to push him too far as he continues to work his way back from a torn ACL that kept him out for most of last season.

Thursday’s performance was a reminder that Melton does not need to be a starter to provide tangible fantasy value. He played 24 minutes off the bench against the Mavericks, recording a complete stat line. Melton’s field-goal percentage wasn’t the best, but his getting up a season-high 14 shots was encouraging. Hopefully, he can build on this effort, as the Warriors guard averaged 3.4 points on 14.3 percent shooting in the five games prior.

Melton was held out of Saturday’s win over the Cavaliers, as it was the front end of a back-to-back for the Warriors. While he does boast a slightly higher fantasy ceiling with Stephen Curry out, the versatile guard’s playing will likely remain limited in his second game back from a torn ACL. Melton played 21 minutes in Thursday’s loss to the 76ers; expect a similar workload on Sunday.

After logging 21 minutes in his debut on Thursday, Melton will not make his second appearance of the season on Saturday. With Seth Curry also out, there will be more minutes available to Will Richard and Pat Spencer, with the former already in the starting lineup.

Melton logged 21 minutes on Thursday in his first game in over a year, and he played well. He will likely end up on the injury report often this season, and his absence would likely open up extra minutes for Seth Curry and Gary Payton II.

More than a year after he suffered a torn ACL, Melton was back on the court Thursday night. And he didn’t need much time to remind people why he can be a valuable option in fantasy basketball. Despite being limited to 21 minutes, Melton recorded a complete stat line with solid percentages against the 76ers. With Stephen Curry and Jimmy Butler out, and Draymond Green attempting to play through a foot injury, the Warriors can use the help that Melton can provide on both ends of the floor. Managers in deep leagues may be wary of adding him after one game due to the Warriors’ upcoming back-to-back, but Melton may be worth the risk.

Melton last suited up on Nov. 12, 2024, meaning if he sees the floor against Philadelphia, he will play for the first time in over a calendar year. It’s unclear how large of a role he’ll have, though it can safely be assumed that it won’t be a large one at first. Melton has a fantasy-friendly skillset, and he could end up as an intriguing waiver-wire pickup later in the year.

Saturday’s game against the Pelicans is the first of two that the Warriors will play before hitting the road for a four-game trip that begins in Philadelphia on December 4. Melton has not appeared in a game since suffering a torn left ACL last November, but that may change during the road trip. Given the amount of time missed, his minutes will likely be restricted when the time comes. However, if Melton can carve out a role for himself, he’s capable of providing solid fantasy value.

Melton has been out since undergoing surgery on his left ACL last December, but a return does not appear to be far off. He has been practicing with the Warriors’ G League affiliate, and the team plans to continue incorporating him into practices as he nears a return. An update will be provided by the Warriors in 10 days. There’s no need to stash Melton in an IL+ slot, but he can be of value once allowed to play without any restrictions.

Melton has surgery on his left ACL in December, 2024. He’ll start practicing with the Warriors over the next two weeks, and the team will provide another update in mid-November. That doesn’t mean he’ll be ready to suit up then, but when he does, he can be a solid depth piece for this team.

Having agreed to a deal with the Warriors earlier this week, Melton is unlikely to be available when the team begins its regular season on October 21. He suffered an ACL injury six games into the 2024-25 season and is still recovering. On Wednesday, Warriors head coach Steve Kerr said that he hopes Melton will be available “sometime in the next couple of months,” so fantasy managers should assume him to be out indefinitely. While Melton has solid fantasy value when available, the injury question mark makes him someone who should not be selected in drafts.

The Warriors gave Melton the full midlevel exception last offseason, but lost the 27-year-old shooting guard to a season-ending ACL injury six games into the season. Melton was traded along with three future second-round picks to the Nets for Dennis Schroder in midseason, but he could be on his way back to Golden State this offseason.
