Mitchell stepped out of the metaphorical phone booth in the closing moments, scoring eight straight points in 65 seconds — including a go-ahead bucket with 34 seconds left — to help Cleveland erase a six-point deficit in the final two minutes. The 29-year-old scoring machine has been a top-10 fantasy player early in the season, averaging 30 points, three rebounds, five assists, and two steals through nine games. The Cavaliers have won four straight and will look to keep rolling when they open a two-game set in Miami on Monday evening.

Mitchell didn’t have a great shooting night overall, but he did make 40 percent of his three-point attempts and record a complete stat line. Even better for the Cavaliers is that he only needed 26 minutes to do so, as Cleveland hosts Chicago on Saturday. If Darius Garland (toe) does not play against the Bulls, Mitchell will shift over into the point guard role, as he did earlier this season.

Mitchell returned from a hamstring injury on Sunday, dropping 37 points in a win over the Raptors. The 29-year-old shooting guard didn’t disappoint with his encore performance Wednesday. Mitchell exploded for 46 points on 21 attempts from the field. He made all 10 of his free throws and was 6-of-11 from behind the three-point line. It’s clear the only thing that can stop Mitchell from delivering excellent fantasy value this year would be his health.

Mitchell showed no ill effects from the lingering hamstring issue that kept him out of Friday’s loss to the Raptors. He played 36 minutes on Sunday and was efficient as a scorer, shooting over 57 percent from the field. Also, Mitchell knocked down a season-high eight three-pointers against the Hawks. As long as the hamstring injury doesn’t flare up, Spida will provide excellent fantasy value throughout the season. Lonzo Ball, who started for Mitchell on Friday, played 27 minutes and finished with eight points, six rebounds, three assists, one steal and two three-pointers.

While Mitchell played through his hamstring issue in Wednesday’s loss to the Celtics, he was held out of Friday’s loss to the Raptors. Lonzo Ball will be bumped to the bench, Mitchell may not be asked to take on a starter’s workload due to his injury. Ball played 26 minutes on Friday and may be asked to initiate more offense again on Sunday.

Mitchell missed Friday’s game against the Raptors with a hamstring injury. Now his status for Sunday’s game is up in the air given his questionable injury designation. With Darius Garland out and Jarrett Allen (finger) also questionable, Evan Mobley and De’Andre Hunter could be counted on for increased scoring on Sunday.

Mitchell underwent treatment on Friday but did not participate in pregame shootaround, and he has now been ruled out. Craig Porter Jr. and Lonzo Ball are available and can assume the primary playmaker responsibilities in Mitchell’s absence. Porter may be the starter due to the Cavaliers still limiting Ball’s workload, but both will be worth streaming consideration.

Mitchell was cleared to play in Wednesday’s loss to the Celtics shortly before tipoff and went on to play 32 minutes. He may once again be a game-time decision on Friday, and the Cavaliers will already be without Darius Garland and Sam Merrill. If Mitchell sits, Lonzo Ball and Craig Porter Jr. will have added importance within the Cavs’ rotation.

Mitchell will play in Wednesday’s game after being a late addition to the Cavaliers’ injury report. However, head coach Kenny Atkinson said during his pregame availability that he plans to go deep into his bench, potentially a sign that Mitchell won’t take on his usual workload. He should still be inserted into lineups, but he isn’t guaranteed to reach his average of 33 minutes per game.

Mitchell is a late addition to the injury report for Wednesday’s game, which generally does not bode well for a player’s availability. With Sam Merrill (hip) already out, the Cavaliers could start a backcourt of Craig Porter Jr. and Jaylon Tyson. Given Cleveland’s lack of options in this scenario, both would be worth streaming in deep leagues.

Mitchell has gotten off to a scorching hot start to the year, having now scored at least 30 points in three of Cleveland’s four games. He didn’t contribute much value in other categories in this game, which was disappointing, but he didn’t need to. The Cavs were in full control for most of this game. Mitchell will look to stay hot against Boston on Wednesday to try and help Cleveland start the year 4-1.

After scoring 31 and 35 points in his first two games of the season, Mitchell cooled down in Sunday’s home opener. However, while the percentages weren’t the best, he still finished a blocked shot shy of a complete stat line. With Darius Garland (toe) still out, the Cavaliers have asked Mitchell to initiate even more offense, slightly raising his fantasy ceiling. Cleveland plays four games during Week 2, starting with the Pistons on Monday.

Mitchell has had back-to-back games with at least 30 points to begin the season. The 29-year-old point guard is seeing an uptick in usage while Darius Garland (toe) is out. Mitchell carried the Cavaliers to victory with 35 points on 15 shots including six three-pointers. He’s off to an excellent start this year.

Mitchell caught fire in the third quarter after scoring eight points on 3-of-7 shooting in the first half. Shooting 9-of-13, he scored 21 points in the third period alone to help Cleveland erase a double-digit deficit. The Knicks did a better job of defending Mitchell in the fourth, but he was also on the sideline for a bit to get his left leg stretched out after colliding with Jordan Clarkson on an attempt to corral a loose ball. Mitchell returned to the game after a brief absence, so his availability for Friday’s game against the Nets should not be a significant concern.

Coming off a 22-point game in his last outing against the Bulls, Mitchell picked up right where he left off by dropping 13 points in the first quarter. The 29-year-old shooting guard cooled off after that and ended up with five turnovers in 29 minutes. It was an uneven performance, but that’s what the preseason is for. Mitchell is an excellent selection in the second round of fantasy basketball drafts this year.

After playing 18 minutes and logging seven points on 3-of-5 shooting in Tuesday’s preseason opener, Mitchell was much more aggressive in his minutes on Thursday. The superstar guard led all Cleveland players in field goal attempts en route to finishing as one of three Cavaliers starters to score at least 20 points. Mitchell was efficient both inside and outside the arc while racking up stocks on the defensive end. Off a stellar 2024-25 campaign, Mitchell will enter the 2025-26 season as a likely top-10 shooting guard in fantasy basketball drafts.

Mitchell scored at least 33 points in four of the series’ five games, but efficiency was an issue in Tuesday’s series finale. He shot just 32 percent from the field, boosting his point total with frequent trips to the foul line. Sometimes, Mitchell appeared to be impacted by his injured left ankle, but many players are dealing with an injury at this stage in the season. While he did not live up to his Yahoo! ADP of 17, the Cavaliers’ star offered third-round value in nine-cat formats during the regular season. Mitchell won’t be worth selecting with a first-round pick in 12-team drafts next fall, but he should not drop out of the second round.

Mitchell did not play in the second half of Sunday’s Game 4 blowout loss after aggravating a left ankle injury. The good news is that he’ll be available for Tuesday’s game, and the Cavaliers will need all hands on deck as they trail three games to one. Cleveland will go with its regular starting lineup, with Darius Garland, Max Strus, Evan Mobley and Jarrett Allen joining Mitchell. According to TNT, an MRI on Monday revealed a sprain and showed that Mitchell did not suffer any additional damage.

Mitchell didn’t return after halftime of Sunday’s blowout loss, and Ty Jerome started in his place for the second half. The Cavs were getting stomped 80-39, but apparently the injury is more serious than initially thought, and his absence in the second half was more than precautionary. If he’s unable to go, Jerome would likely get the starting nod as Cleveland faces elimination at home down 3-1 in the series.

Mitchell exited from Game 4 at halftime, and it wasn’t clear at the time if the 41-point deficit was a factor. However, Mitchell will undergo more testing on Monday, which will give a better indication of his status ahead of Game 5 on Tuesday. With Cleveland facing a 3-1 deficit, it’s difficult to imagine Mitchell not playing through it if it’s only a minor injury. Ty Jerome started the second half in place of Mitchell and would likely start Game 5 if the injury is significant.

While the 41-point halftime deficit may have been a factor in this decision, it certainly isn’t a good sign. Mitchell dealt with a left ankle injury at the end of the regular season and is now dealing with an injury to the same ankle. The extent isn’t clear, but Cleveland won’t be able to win this series without their superstar. Darius Garland, Evan Mobley and De’Andre Hunter have also been limited by injuries in this series. Ty Jerome started the second half in place of Mitchell, who was the team’s leading scorer at halftime with 12 points.

Of course, the returns of Darius Garland, Evan Mobley and De’Andre Hunter increased the Cavaliers’ chances of getting a win on Friday. But superstars need to step up in spots like the one Cleveland found itself in after losing the first two games. Mitchell did that in Game 3, surpassing the 40-point mark for the second straight game. He’s scored 33 or more in all three games, with efficiency only being an issue in Game 1. It’s become clear that the Pacers don’t have a good defensive matchup for Mitchell, which should continue to result in gaudy stat lines for the Cavaliers’ star guard. Game 4 is on Sunday.

With the Cavaliers down Evan Mobley (ankle), Darius Garland (toe) and De’Andre Hunter (thumb), Mitchell took on a huge scoring workload in Game 2, but it still wasn’t enough. He poured in a staggering 48 points, despite only going 1-of-7 from behind the three-point line. Mitchell was also getting others involved in the offense as he led the Cavaliers with nine assists. The 28-year-old shooting guard was able to get to the free throw often as he was 17-of-21 on free throws. Mitchell and the Cavaliers will have to regroup after dropping the first two games of the series at home. If the Cavaliers don’t get some of their injured players back for Game 3, the onus will fall on Mitchell again to provide most of the offense.

With Evan Mobley, Darius Garland and De’Andre Hunter all ruled out, the Cavaliers are down three of their top six players for Game 2. It’s a tough blow, especially considering Cleveland already dropped Game 1 of the series at home. The Cavs figure to rely heavily on Jerome and Strus to provide some scoring to support what will undoubtedly be a massive workload for Mitchell.

While Mitchell’s final point tally was excellent, how he reached that number was not. The Cavaliers’ leading scorer shot 1-of-11 from three, and Indiana outscored the Cavaliers by 33 points from beyond the arc. Once again playing without Darius Garland (toe), the Cavaliers could not control the tempo. Changing that for Tuesday’s Game 2 becomes exponentially more difficult if Garland cannot play, regardless of what Mitchell does individually.

Mitchell only needed 25 minutes in this game to lead the Cavs in scoring and help them advance to the second round of the playoffs. Things got out of hand quickly, and they were able to take a 39-point lead into halftime. Mitchell certainly could’ve had a bigger night if this game was remotely close. They’ll take on the winner of the Pacers/Bucks series, and with Indiana leading 3-1 and hosting on Tuesday, Cleveland may not get a ton of time to rest before their second-round series begins.

Mitchell closed the show for the Cavaliers in Game 2, producing multiple baskets down the stretch to help them secure a 2-0 series lead. His 20 second-half points were particularly impressive, as were his contributions from beyond the arc. Mitchell will have the opportunity to reach 30 points for the third straight time this series when the Cavaliers take on the Heat Saturday in Game 3.
