McDaniels followed a strong 19-point outing against the Heat on Tuesday by breaking the 20-point mark for the 9th time this season. He made the most of his opportunities and shot the three-pointer well, and had his usual impact on the defensive end of the floor. McDaniels finished as one of four Timberwolves starters to score at least 20 points in this game, ultimately helping lead Minnesota to a fourth straight win.

McDaniels threw down a couple monster dunks and fell just short of his fourth 20-point effort in the last month. The 25-year-old doesn’t offer immense scoring upside, but his all-around game translates extremely well for fantasy purposes. He’s produced sixth-round fantasy value, averaging 14.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 1.1 steals and 0.9 blocks through 35 games.

After a one-game absence, McDaniels has been cleared to return to action. His availability affects Mike Conley the most, as the veteran point guard is likely headed back to the bench.

McDaniels is on track to return to action after a one-game absence. If he’s cleared, Mike Conley would most likely return to the bench, which would be a hit to his already-low fantasy value.

McDaniels injured his oblique Sunday against the Bucks and subsequently missed Tuesday’s win over the Knicks. The 25-year-old small forward is questionable to return against the Nuggets on Thursday. With McDaniels out Tuesday, Naz Reid and Bones Hyland each played 25 minutes off the bench.

McDaniels was forced out of Sunday’s win over Milwaukee early, and the injury will force him to miss at least one contest. Mike Conley, Naz Reid and Bones Hyland are all candidates for expanded roles in McDaniels’ absence.

McDaniels suffered a left oblique contusion during the first half of Sunday’s win over the Bucks and did not return. Mike Conley was moved into the lineup to start the third quarter, possibly a sign that he’ll start on Tuesday if McDaniels can’t go. However, Sunday’s game was Conley’s first since missing four games with a sore Achilles, so he may not go past 24 minutes.

McDaniels injured his hip during the first quarter of Sunday’s game. While he did return to action after a trip to the locker room, the forward did not stay in the game long before returning to the locker room. Bones Hyland, Terrence Shannon Jr. and Jaylen Clark should see their minutes increase due to McDaniels’ early exit.

McDaniels eclipsed 20 points despite going 1-for-7 from downtown by getting to the line for a season-high six free throws. The 25-year-old continues to play a significant role for Minnesota as he’s topped 17 points in four of his last six contests since December 1. He’ll continue to shoulder a significant portion of the offensive workload with Anthony Edwards (foot) on the shelf.

Counted on mainly for his defense, McDaniels came up big on offense for the Timberwolves. The 27 points were the most he’s scored in a game since October 29, when he dropped a season-high 30 on the Lakers. He finished the comeback victory with a complete stat line and has provided seventh-round value in eight- and nine-cat formats over the past two weeks. Rostered in 46 percent of Yahoo! leagues, McDaniels may be undervalued, as he has been a top-50 player this season.

After his streak of consecutive games played ended at 157 on Wednesday, McDaniels returned to the Timberwolves’ lineup on Friday. He didn’t have a great night shooting the basketball, but the Timberwolves forward did provide good value in the rebound and steals categories. Rostered in 46 percent of Yahoo! leagues, McDaniels is ranked comfortably within the top-50 in nine-cat formats. And he’ll get a few days off until the Timberwolves play their next game on Monday against the Kings.

McDaniels is back in the Timberwolves’ lineup after a one-game absence. His return means Mike Conley will head back to the bench, where his already-low fantasy value takes a hit. There isn’t a need to roster Conley in most fantasy leagues.

McDaniels did not play in Wednesday’s win over the Wizards, ending a streak of 157 consecutive games played. Mike Conley moved into the starting lineup, with Anthony Edwards and Donte DiVincenzo shifting down a spot. Conley will head back to the bench if McDaniels plays.

McDaniels was initially listed as questionable for this game but will be sidelined for the first time since the 2023-24 season. Depending on how tall of a lineup head coach Chris Finch wants to roll out, Naz Reid or Mike Conley will likely slide into the starting unit, though both should see a bump in minutes.

McDaniels hasn’t missed a game yet this season and didn’t miss one last year. If that streak ends, Timberwolves coach Chris Finch has multiple options to bump into the starting lineup. It could be a smaller starting lineup with Jaylen Clark or Mike Conley filling in. It could be a bigger lineup with Naz Reid joining. It’s unclear what he’ll do, since it has been so long since McDaniels missed a game.

McDaniels has scored either 21 or 22 points in three of his last four games, and he’s produced five games of at least 20 points this season. By comparison, he had 12 games of 20 points or more for the entire 2024-25 season. McDaniels is averaging a career-high 12.7 shot attempts per game and shooting 55.9 percent from the field, which is one reason why he’s providing third-round value in nine-cat formats. The Timberwolves play three games during Week 4, starting with the Jazz on Monday.

McDaniels has scored 20 points or more in four of Minnesota’s nine games, and he’s off to the best start of his NBA career. The 6-foot-9 wing is averaging 18.3 points per game, which would be the best of his career by more than six points (12.2 ppg last season). And he’s doing this while shooting nearly 54 percent from the field. McDaniels is providing top-50 value in nine-cat formats, and some may be tempted to sell high, especially with Anthony Edwards back from a hamstring injury. However, those two combined for 59 points on Friday, and Julius Randle recorded a triple-double, which may be a sign of McDaniels’ staying power.

McDaniels has seemingly flipped a switch since shooting 37.8 percent from the field in the Timberwolves’ first three games. He’s shot 57.9 percent or better in four straight, scoring 22 points or more in three outings. With Anthony Davis (hamstring) unavailable, there’s more room for McDaniels to show what he can do offensively, and he’s taken advantage. Over the past week, McDaniels has been a third-round player in nine-cat formats. He should be rostered in a higher percentage of Yahoo! leagues with Ant-Man unable to play.

McDaniels was aggressive on the offensive end in Minnesota’s first game of the season without Anthony Edwards (hamstring). The versatile forward led all Timberwolves players in shot attempts and was the only one to tally double-digit makes. He was efficient from the floor and, unsurprisingly, made an impact on the defensive end as a shot blocker. McDaniels didn’t get involved much on the glass or as a passer, but if he can stay consistent as a scorer during Edwards’s absence, he’ll provide an undermanned Timberwolves squad with a needed scoring boost.

McDaniels hit a three-pointer that put the Timberwolves ahead with 2:25 left in the fourth quarter. It was a clutch shot at that point in the game, though the Timberwolves would give up the lead only to get it back on a clutch shot by Anthony Edwards. It’s only one game, but McDaniels already looks like a steal as his preseason Yahoo! ADP was outside the top-100.

McDaniels, who did not play in Monday’s exhibition against the Pacers, logged 23 minutes in his first action of the preseason. He has a Yahoo! ADP of 110.2, and fantasy managers could be undervaluing the Timberwolves’ wing. McDaniels was nearly a top-75 player in nine-cat formats last season and can provide similar value this season. However, the 2024-25 campaign was also the first in which McDaniels finished as a top-100 player. Given the production throughout McDaniels’ career, it’s understandable why some may not be ready to hop onto the bandwagon just yet.

McDaniels had a brutal night in Oklahoma City, shooting 2-of-13 from the field in an unfortunate end to his season. The finish will take away from what was a productive season for the Timberwolves wing, who exceeded his Yahoo! ADP (142) and provided top-100 value in eight- and nine-cat formats. McDaniels finished the regular season with career-high averages in points, rebounds, assists and steals while shooting 47.7 percent from the field and 81.3 percent from the foul line. At a minimum, he should be a safe top-100 pick in standard league drafts in the fall.

With Julius Randle limited to five points on 1-of-7 shooting and Anthony Edwards getting off to a slow start, Minnesota needed more production from its “others” in Game 4. McDaniels was one of the players who answered the call, shooting 66.7 percent from the field and recording a complete stat line. Despite being asked to serve as the primary defender of league MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, McDaniels has scored 22 points in two of the last three games in this series. The Timberwolves will need a similar effort in Wednesday’s Game 5 to keep their season alive.

McDaniels has taken on the unenviable task of defending Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, and his emotions got the best of him late in Game 2. The Timberwolves forward was whistled for a flagrant foul after shoving SGA to the floor, but that does not tell the whole story of McDaniels’ night. After scoring seven points in the series opener, he more than tripled that number on Thursday, shooting over 50 percent from the field. McDaniels can undoubtedly be productive as a scorer, but expecting 20-plus points per night while also having to defend a player of Gilgeous-Alexander’s caliber is a lot to ask. Game 3 is on Saturday night in Minneapolis.

With Anthony Edwards and Julius Randle handling most of the scoring, McDaniels was valuable on both ends of the floor in Game 4. In addition to the double-double, he took on the challenge of defending Luka Doncic for most of Sunday’s victory. While Doncic got his numbers, he was made to work for them, which is all you can ask when defending a player of his caliber. McDaniels and the Timberwolves now lead three games to one, with Game 5 scheduled for Wednesday in Los Angeles.

McDaniels led the Timberwolves in scoring for the second time in the series. Perhaps it’s just a coincidence, but each time he’s led the team in scoring, they’ve won the game. McDaniels made just one three-pointer, but was 12-of-17 on two-point attempts and 3-of-4 from the free throw line. While McDaniels scored at least 20 points just 12 times in the regular season, he’s thrived so far in the highly competitive playoff environment. We’ll see if the Lakers defense adjusts or McDaniels turns back to his regular season form in Game 4 Sunday.

McDaniels’ aggressiveness on the offensive end was one of the key factors in Minnesota’s Game 1 victory. He didn’t hesitate to make plays on that end of the floor, and the result was a highly efficient outing in Los Angeles. McDaniels scored 20 points or more 12 times during the regular season, most recently doing so in a March 16 win over the Jazz. Nights like Saturday have not been the norm for Jaden, so it would be unsurprising if his production took a hit in Game 2 on Tuesday. However, his performance in Game 1 has given the Lakers something to think about when they draw up their defensive game plan for Tuesday.

McDaniels has scored at least 10 points in every game he’s played in since February. The two-way wing is rebounding well and has posted 1.8 and 1.1 blocks per game in March. He’ll look to keep up his prowess on both ends against the Pacers on Monday.

McDaniels has reached double figures in scoring in 20 straight games, sustaining the momentum gained when the Timberwolves played without Julius Randle. Jaden may not hit 20 points consistently, but the scoring output hasn’t fallen off a cliff. Add the defensive numbers, and McDaniels has been a second-round player in eight-cat formats over the past two weeks. He’s rostered in 68 percent of Yahoo! leagues, and 10-team managers needing defensive stats should consider adding McDaniels ahead of Sunday’s game against the Jazz.
