Nesmith is back after sitting out Sunday’s loss to the Warriors. His return means Ben Sheppard will head back to the bench in a move that does not impact fantasy basketball. Even with the Pacers’ many injuries, there’s no need to consider Sheppard in most leagues.

Nesmith has a right forearm contusion and will not play on Sunday, the Pacers’ second game in as many nights. Given the number of players who won’t be available, now is the time to go “all-in” on Jarace Walker out of necessity. If you hadn’t already done so.

Nesmith benefitted from the return of fellow guard Andrew Nembhard as he shot 70 percent from the floor, knocking down a trio of three-pointers, and getting to the line for eight free throws. The 26-year-old has taken on a much larger role from a scoring standpoint with Tyrese Haliburton out for the season, which gives him some serious appeal in deeper fantasy leagues.

Not only did Nesmith notch a career-high point total, but this was also his third 30-point game. Given how poorly he’s shot the ball to begin the season, Nesmith getting untracked on Saturday was critical for the shorthanded Pacers. Shooting 34.6 percent from the field and 66.7 percent from the foul line, he’s ranked outside the top-200 in nine-cat formats. However, due to Indiana’s lack of available options, Nesmith needs to be rostered in deep leagues, even if that comes with the risk of him recording low percentages. The Pacers play four games during Week 3, starting with the Bucks on Monday.

Given the Pacers’ many injuries, Nesmith has every opportunity to take on an expanded offensive role. Unfortunately, he had a brutal night in Dallas. Nesmith shot 1-of-9 from three, with his last attempt coming off an intentionally missed free throw in the final seconds that would have won the game. Like most of his other shots, Nesmith’s final effort missed the mark. However, while Wednesday’s performance was discouraging, the current state of Indiana’s roster makes it worthwhile to hold onto Nesmith in deep leagues. Especially with the Pacers ending Week 2 with a Friday/Saturday back-to-back.

Nesmith played 35 minutes and was second only to Pascal Siakam in both minutes and points for the Pacers. With the amount of injuries the Pacers have, Nesmith is seeing a good amount of opportunity, which is particularly of interest for fantasy managers that need points and threes. He’s rostered in just 27 percent of Yahoo! leagues.

Known mainly as a shooter when he entered the NBA with the Celtics, Nesmith has emerged as a solid wing defender since joining the Pacers via trade in the summer of 2022. Monday’s reported extension pushes his deal through the 2028-29 season, with the Pacers paying the maximum they could in the transaction. With Tyrese Haliburton (Achilles) out for the season, Nesmith should have more opportunities to contribute on offense. While Bennedicat Mathurin is the biggest beneficiary from a fantasy standpoint, managers should not overlook Nesmith.

Nesmith led the Pacers in scoring in Friday’s preseason finale, but the shot distribution amongst the team’s starters is unlikely to be the norm during the regular season. Pascal Siakam (9/2/4 with one three-pointer) and Bennedict Mathurin (11 points, four rebounds and one three-pointer) attempted five and six shots, respectively, and they’re likely to have the highest shot volume once the games truly count. That said, Nesmith’s opportunities may increase as the Pacers look to account for Myles Turner’s exit and Tyrese Haliburton’s Achilles tendon injury.

Indiana dominated on the glass in this game, but it wasn’t just because of the bigs. Nesmith was the leading rebounder in this game and was one of three Pacers to grab at least 10 rebounds. However, they lost the turnover battle 24-6, and Nesmith contributed five of those. The only player with more was Myles Turner, who coughed it up six times. Indiana won this game and still has things to clean up, which is an encouraging sign for them moving forward in this series.

Nesmith was also questionable for Game 4, but played 32 minutes as the Pacers took a commanding 3-1 lead in the series. The 25-year-old small forward was the hero in the Pacers’ Game 1 victory and is poised to play through the ankle injury once again in Game 5. Bennedict Mathurin and Ben Sheppard could see extra minutes off the bench if Nesmith is limited in any way or re-aggravates the injury.

Despite spraining his right ankle during the second half of Game 3, Nesmith started and played 32 minutes in Tuesday’s Game 4 victory. Fans should operate under the assumption that he’ll play on Thursday as the Pacers look to earn their first trip to the NBA Finals since 2000. If Nesmith is limited or cannot play, Bennedict Mathurin and Ben Sheppard will be of greater importance to the Pacers, with one moving into the starting lineup.

Nesmith suffered a right ankle sprain in Game 3 and was initially listed as questionable. The 25-year-old small forward landed on Jalen Brunson’s foot after a shot attempt in the third quarter of Sunday’s Game 3. Nesmith played just 26 minutes in Game 3. He played the hero in Game 1 when he dropped 30 points in the Pacers’ overtime win and seems poised to play through the ankle injury in Game 4 Tuesday.

Nesmith sprained his right ankle during the third quarter of Sunday’s Game 3, as he landed on Jalen Brunson’s foot after attempting a shot. While he did return to the game during the fourth quarter after getting the ankle retaped, Dustin Dopirak of the Indianapolis Star reported that Nesmith was in pain when he woke up Monday morning. The expectation is that he’ll be a game-time decision for Game 4. While Bennedict Mathurin has been Nesmith’s injury replacement in the past, Ben Sheppard may be a better fit due to his superior defensive ability. No Nesmith would also mean Andrew Nembhard would be asked to defend Jalen Brunson more.

While the Knicks’ rally from a 20-point deficit had already begun, Nesmith rolling his right ankle during the third quarter was a critical turning point. The Pacers held a 70-57 lead at the time, and while they would push their advantage out to 15 later in the period, not having Nesmith on the court was impactful on both ends. Defensively, the Pacers missed their best perimeter defender, and there were also spacing issues as the Knicks locked down on the other end of the floor. Not having a capable catch-and-shoot option in Nesmith factored into Indiana blowing the lead. They still lead the series two games to one, and Nesmith did return during the fourth quarter. But his injury is something to watch in the lead-up to Tuesday’s Game 4.

Nesmith was unstoppable in the fourth quarter. He scored 20 points, which came on six three-pointers and two free throws. That was enough to help send this game to overtime, and while he didn’t do more scoring, he made an impact on defense to help Indiana steal Game 1 on the road. 30 points matches his career high in any game, and his eight triples were a new career best in any game. Nesmith may not shoot like this often, but he got hot at the right time to help the Pacers take a 1-0 lead.

Nesmith didn’t have the best night as a three-point shooter, making one of his seven attempts. However, he finished the series 13-of-29 from deep and recorded his first double-double in Tuesday’s clincher. While he had a limited defensive impact on Donovan Mitchell (he shot well over 50 percent when Nesmith was his primary defender), the Pacers’ wing has been a valuable contributor on both ends of the floor. Next up for Indiana is New York or Boston in the Eastern Conference Finals.

Nesmith continues to step up his game in the playoffs. After the first two games of the second round, the 25-year-old small forward has 40 points and nine three-pointers in the series. He saw his minutes go up from 25 to 33 from Game 1 to Game 2. It seems the Pacers are increasingly comfortable relying on their starters including Nesmith, despite him being in a timeshare with Bennedict Mathurin during the regular season.

After scoring at least 14 points in the final four games of Indiana’s first-round win over Milwaukee, Nesmith got his second round off to an excellent start. He shot 4-of-6 from beyond the arc, with only Andrew Nembhard making more three-pointers for the Pacers in this one. In a timeshare with Bennedict Mathurin (11/5/1/0/1 with three three-pointers in 23 minutes), Nesmith provided more value than many may have expected in Game 1. The Pacers will need more performances like this to eliminate the team with the best record in the East.

Nesmith suffered a lower back bruise during the Pacers’ Game 4 victory in Milwaukee, but he was able to return after a brief exit. He’s been upgraded to available for Game 5 and will occupy his usual place in the starting lineup. With Bennedict Mathurin (abdominals) also available, the Pacers will have their full rotation as they look to close out the Damian Lillard-less Bucks.

Nesmith is dealing with a bruise on his lower back, but it isn’t expected to impact his status for Game 5. Nesmith has played 27.5 minutes per game during this series, and that should continue as the Pacers look to close things out on Tuesday.

Nesmith and Nembhard have been removed from the injury report after sitting out Friday’s loss to the Magic. The Pacers are locked into the four-seed in the East regardless of Sunday’s result, so the starters may not play much. T.J. McConnell and Bennedict Mathurin will return to the bench but not lack opportunities against the Cavaliers.

Nesmith is dealing with right ankle soreness. The 25-year-old small forward has been excellent over the past two weeks as he’s provided top-75 fantasy value. If Nesmith is out Friday, Obi Toppin and Jarace Walker are candidates to move into the starting lineup and see additional minutes.

Nesmith led Indiana in scoring to help them get back on track after they lost to the Thunder on Saturday. Six of his 24 points came in the final 20 seconds as he went 6-of-6 at the free throw line to seal the victory for Indiana. Nesmith has been a solid contributor as a starter for the Pacers, especially as of late. He has provided top-75 value in nine-cat leagues over the past two weeks with averages of 13.8 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.3 triples while shooting 52.1 percent from the floor.

Nesmith’s availability is more impactful, as he has been a fixture in the Pacers’ starting lineup. If he’s unable to play, Bennedict Mathurin will likely move into the starting lineup, which raises his fantasy ceiling. As for Furphy, he is not a consistent member of the rotation when healthy, so there’s no need to consider rostering him.

Nesmith went off Saturday night, recording his first 30-point game of the season. He shot 6-of-7 from beyond the arc while also providing solid value in the rebound and steals categories. Since the All-Star break, Nesmith has provided top 75 value in nine-cat formats. Rostered in 23 percent of Yahoo! leagues, he’s worth a roll of the dice in deep leagues since the Pacers play four games during Week 20.

While Nesmith is on the Pacers’ initial injury report, the probable tag suggests he’ll be available. He’s been a starter since just before the All-Star break, and that will remain the case, even if Bennedict Mathurin is available on Saturday.

Part of the Pacers’ starting lineup due to his defensive ability, Nesmith has never lacked the ability to knock down shots. He had his best offensive performance of the season on Sunday, recording his first 20-point game. Nesmith has hit double figures in five of his last six outings, sitting just outside the top 75 in eight-cat formats since the All-Star break. The Pacers play three games during Week 18, starting with the Rockets on Tuesday.
