With Jamal Murray (ankle) sidelined for the second night of Denver’s back-to-back, Pickett entered the starting unit in his place. It was his fourth start of the season, including his third in their last four games. The result was a new career high for points for the 2023 second-round pick. Murray should be back for their next game on Wednesday in Boston, so Pickett likely won’t be able to provide an encore. However, he may have earned himself more minutes, and he will have more streaming appeal during his next start.

As expected, Valanciunas will replace Nikola Jokic in the starting lineup. The unexpected change is that Pickett will move into the starting unit in place of Tim Hardaway Jr. THJ should still play a large role off the bench, but Pickett has upside as a streamer as a starter.

The Nuggets remain without Jamal Murray (hamstring), but it won’t be Peyton Watson or Russell Westbrook who replaces him in Sunday’s lineup. Pickett has received the nod in a change that gives him some fantasy relevance in deep leagues. Denver’s other four starters are unchanged.

Pickett made his second career start on Wednesday, as the Nuggets’ entire starting five was out for the second game of the team’s back-to-back. The second-year guard recorded the best stat line of his NBA career, dropping a triple-double in 35 minutes on the court. There’s no need to add Pickett in the aftermath of this performance, as most of the players who sat out on Wednesday should be back for Friday’s game against the Warriors. But it was nice to see him take advantage of his opportunity.

The Nuggets are without Jamal Murray (hamstring) and Michael Porter Jr. (personal), opening up two spots in the starting lineup. While Watson’s inclusion in the lineup is not a surprise, Pickett’s selection to start instead of Russell Westbrook is. Pickett’s fantasy ceiling is raised, but fantasy managers should expect Jokic to have the ball in his hands a lot.
