Having missed the Grizzlies’ last three games with sesamoiditis in his right great toe, Pippen will now undergo a season-ending sesamoidectomy to address the issue. He underwent a similar procedure in October, which delayed the guard’s season debut until early February. Pippen only appeared in ten games this season, finishing with averages of 11.4 points, 2.2 rebounds, 4.7 assists, 1.9 steals and 1.0 three-pointers in 21.2 minutes. With Ty Jerome having recently missed some games, Javon Small and Cam Spencer will have added fantasy value for the rest of this season.

Pippen will miss a third consecutive game as he continues to deal with sesamoiditis in his right great toe. Javon Small and, if available, Cam Spencer will play plenty, as the Grizzlies are unlikely to have Ty Jerome (calf) as well.

Like Ty Jerome (calf), Pippen is on track to sit out the first of two games the Grizzlies will play in as many nights to open Week 20. Javon Small, Walter Clayton Jr. and Cam Spencer take on added importance with the Grizzlies’ two starters unlikely to play.

Pippen played on Tuesday, and now he is expected to sit out the second leg of this back-to-back. With Ty Jerome (calf) also doubtful, Cam Spencer, Walter Clayton Jr. and Javon Small will fill the point guard minutes.

With Ty Jerome sidelined by a thigh injury, Pippen was moved back into the starting lineup for Friday’s game. And he showed why some fantasy managers remain optimistic about his potential for the rest of the season. Pippen recorded a complete stat line, shooting over 50 percent from the field and recording three steals. He did this in 22 minutes, and the Grizzlies may not lift his minutes limit anytime soon. However, as long as Pippen is in the rotation, he’ll be worth holding in deeper leagues.

The Grizzlies won’t have Ty Jerome (thigh) for Friday’s game, opening up a spot in the starting lineup. Pippen has been tabbed to fill the void, which raises his fantasy ceiling despite his minutes likely being limited.

Pippen didn’t make a shot from the field, going 0-of-8 with his only points coming from the free throw line. He also had eight assists, but turned the ball over seven times. Pippen was a force on the defensive end with five steals, which only added to the up and down nature of his performance.

Pippen and Miami’s Myron Gardner received their marching orders with just under two minutes remaining in the fourth quarter after getting into an altercation. It started when Gardner delivered a shot to Pippen from behind after the Grizzlies guard released a three-pointer. After making the shot, Pippen sought out Gardner, leading to a wrestling match in the corner that required multiple officials and coaches to break up. Pippen finished 18 points, four rebounds, six assists, two steals, one block and three three-pointers.

Pippen Jr. won’t play on Friday, as he manages through his recent return from offseason toe surgery. He’s played just three games this season, posting averages of 10.7 points, 4.3 assists, 2.0 steals, and 20.0 minutes. He’s shown in his brief action that he can still be a productive player. His numbers should increase once his minutes increase.

Pippen played 20 minutes off the bench on Monday, two fewer than his season debut against the Trail Blazers on Friday. However, like teammate Ty Jerome, the minutes restriction did not prohibit Pippen from providing solid value in multiple categories, including assists and steals. With Cedric Coward (knee) not returning for the second half, Pippen replaced him in the lineup. That could be the Grizzlies’ course of action if Coward can’t play in Wednesday’s game against the Nuggets.

After making his season debut the night prior, Pippen did not play in Saturday’s loss to the Trail Blazers due to it being Memphis’ second game in as many nights. With Ty Jerome also available, Pippen will likely slot into a backup role, which limits his fantasy value.

Pippen Jr. was one of eight Grizzlies to score in double figures in his first game of the season. He made contributions as a scorer, but his biggest impact came as a facilitator, concluding as Memphis’ leader in assists. He logged just 22 minutes on Friday, so it’ll be interesting to see what the team’s plan is for him on Saturday’s back-to-back. Nonetheless, it was an encouraging season debut from Pippen Jr.

Despite this being his first game of the season, Pippen is in the starting lineup. However, like Ty Jerome when he made his debut, the point guard will be under a minutes restriction. Cam Spencer will continue to play quality minutes off the bench. The other change to the lineup is Prosper, who steps in as the starting center with Santi Aldama (knee) unavailable.

Pippen is officially available to make his season debut after undergoing offseason toe surgery. Like Ty Jerome before him, Pippen is likely to be under a minutes restriction. While he’s still capable of providing tangible fantasy value, Cam Spencer is a safer play for Friday’s slate.

With the questionable tag, this is the closest that Pippen has been to making his season debut. Ty Jerome (calf), who has been limited to 20 minutes, is out for Friday’s game, so Pippen can slot into that role if he’s allowed to play.

Pippen is closing in on a return to action, but he isn’t ready yet. Ty Jerome and Cam Spencer will continue to handle the point guard duties, and both players are worth rostering in fantasy leagues.

Assigned to the Grizzlies’ G League affiliate last week, Pippen is closing in on making his first appearance of the season. Like Ty Jerome, he’ll likely be under a minutes restriction once cleared to play. The doubtful tag suggests that Pippen ultimately won’t play in Sacramento, but the status represents a step in the right direction.

Neither player has appeared for the Grizzlies this season, but both are nearing a return. It’s possible they won’t take the court until after the All-Star break, and they’ll likely need significant time to ramp up after such a long time on the sideline. Until then, Cam Spencer should see big minutes filling in for the injured Ja Morant.

The Grizzlies announced Saturday that Pippen will need to undergo a sesamoidectomy to address discomfort in his left big toe. While the team has officially released no timeline, as Pippen has yet to undergo the procedure, ESPN’s Shams Charania reported the guard could be out for at least 12 weeks. Given the sprained ankle that sidelined starter Ja Morant during the preseason, not to mention his injury history, the Grizzlies are in trouble at point guard. While Morant is “progressing well” in his recovery, according to head coach Tuomas Iisola, it isn’t guaranteed that he’ll be available when the regular season begins next week. Ty Jerome, whose fantasy value would have increased with Saturday’s news, injured his calf during Friday’s preseason finale.

Due to Ja Morant (hip) being unavailable, more was needed from Pippen, even if he was already in the starting lineup. He undoubtedly answered the call, matching his career-high point total, and the rebound tally was the best of his NBA career. Having entered the 2024-25 season as a fantasy afterthought, Pippen finished as a 12th-round player in eight-cat formats. He’s on a guaranteed contract for next season and, regardless of who’s hired as the next head coach, will be worth grabbing with a late-round pick in 12-team leagues. In addition to Pippen’s production, Morant’s injury history makes this a worthwhile dice roll.

After totaling 15 points on 5-of-21 shooting in the first two games of this series, Pippen recorded one of his best stat lines of the season in Game 3. However, much of his offensive production occurred before halftime, as Memphis was on a roll. Pippen shot 7-of-10 from the field in the first half, but the Grizzlies’ offense would grind to a halt once Ja Morant exited with a hip injury. Pippen’s final stat line was impressive, and he’ll need a similar effort in Saturday’s Game 4, especially if Morant is unable to play.

During the regular season, the Grizzlies went with Vince Williams Jr. as the fifth starter after losing Jaylen Wells to a fractured wrist. However, Pippen was the choice on Tuesday, with his inclusion shifting Ja Morant off the ball. Pippen was solid but not spectacular; we’ll see if the Grizzlies stick with this lineup when they host Dallas or Sacramento on Friday. Williams only played three minutes, going scoreless with one rebound and one assist.

Memphis is sitting its top rotation players for Sunday’s game, as they will be the seventh or eighth seed in the West, depending on the results. With Pippen and Ja Morant out, Cam Spencer should play heavy minutes, with Yuki Kawamura likely moving into the rotation. Spencer is the player worth targeting in active deep leagues.

Pippen and Kennard are among the Grizzlies’ rotation players listed as doubtful for Sunday’s game. Memphis’s loss to the Nuggets on Friday locked them into the play-in tournament; Sunday’s results will determine if they’re the seventh or eighth seed. With Pippen and Kennard unlikely to play, Yuki Kawamura and Cam Spencer should play rotation minutes out of necessity.

Pippen continues to have success as he filled in as a starter for an injured Ja Morant for the third-straight game. The 24-year-old point guard has had at least 15 points and at least five assists in each of the last three games. On Thursday, he even contributed five steals on the defensive end. With Morant out, Pippen is a fantasy asset as a priority streamer.

Ja Morant continues to miss games, and SPJ continues to impress with his new opportunities. Pippen Jr. has averaged 16.3 points, 4.7 rebounds, 6.3 assists, 1.3 steals and 1.7 triples across his last three games. Those numbers are good for a top 30 ranking in fantasy hoops over the last week. Rostered in less than a quarter of Yahoo! leagues, Pippen Jr. is worth an add off the waiver wire.
