Reeves was waived by the Pelicans on July 3 but still suited up for them during summer league. New Orleans drafted him in the second round in 2024, and now he’ll get a fresh start with the Hornets. Reeves will provide some shooting off the bench in Charlotte.

Reeves finished his rookie season with an eighth consecutive game in double figures, tallying 20 points or more twice. He’s one of the young Pelicans whose playing time increased once more established players were sidelined by injuries, which should temper the fantasy expectations for Reeves in 2025-26.

Reeves will replace Kylor Kelley in the starting unit as the lone change to the Pelicans’ opening lineup in Game 82. Reeves had 19 points off the bench on Friday and will look to have another strong scoring night in the final game of his rookie season.

With the Pelicans rotation running thin and the team losing big to the Heat Friday, Reeves managed to play 34 minutes off the bench. The 24-year-old shooting guard has now played at least 30 minutes in five of his last six games, though he’s reached 20 points in only one of those games. With Reeves seeing starter-level minutes, he made for an ideal pickup for fantasy managers in active leagues in the last week of the regular season.

Reeves is one of the Pelicans who has benefitted from the absences of CJ McCollum and Jordan Hawkins, with the former being out for the rest of the season. The rookie guard has reached double figures in four straight and five of his last six appearances, with Sunday’s performance being his best. Reeves’ 23 points are the most he’s scored in a game since November 20, when he went off for 34 against the Cavaliers. For deep-league managers whose leagues will be active during Week 23, Reeves will be worth a look if Hawkins remains out.

The Pelicans are without Jose Alvarado and Kelly Olynyk, opening up two spots in the starting lineup. Payton and Reeves will fill the resulting voids, and they are worth streaming due to New Orleans’ lack of healthy options.

The Pelicans are without Jordan Hawkins for Sunday’s game, as he joins CJ McCollum and Zion Williamson on the sidelines. As a result, Reeves will make his first career start. While the rookie has not provided consistent fantasy value, the opportunity makes him worthy of a look in deep leagues.

The second-round pick out of Kentucky hasn’t seen a large role with New Orleans consistently despite all the injury issues that they have dealt with this season. Aside from his 34-point outburst in November, this was Reeves’ highest-scoring performance of the season. He was also able to set a new career-high with five triples in this one. Managers should expect Reeves to continue to see minutes for the rest of the season, though they have come too inconsistently for him to be streamed at this time.
