Reaves was a game-time decision in Games 3 and 4, but this latest update from Shams bodes well for Reaves’ return. With the Lakers looking to close out the series and move on to face the Thunder, Reaves’ return could come at just the right time.

In an appearance on the Pat McAfee show, Charania noted that Reaves - who was considered questionable for Game 4 - could get back on the court Wednesday when the Lakers return home for Game 5 against the Rockets. The Lakers went up three games to nil before getting blown out in Game 4. Reaves could be the catalyst the team needs to complete the gentleman’s sweep and advance to the Western Conference semifinals.

While there was hope that Reaves would be available for Game 4, the Lakers’ 3-0 series lead may have factored into the decision to keep him out. Luke Kennard will remain in the starting lineup, and he has been productive throughout this series.

The Lakers can close out the Rockets on Sunday, and they may get back one of their key scorers. Reaves, who has been out since April 2 with a strained oblique, is closing in on a return. Given where the series stands, the Lakers can take a conservative approach to working Reaves back into the lineup once he’s available. Luke Kennard has been the starting off-guard, and that will remain the case until Reaves returns.

Reaves was initially listed as questionable and considered a game-time decision. After working out on the court pregame, he was ruled out. Luke Kennard will continue to start and put up points without Reaves, who hasn’t played since April 2.

Reaves’ upgrade on the injury report to questionable is an encouraging sign, signaling a potential return to the floor. He hasn’t appeared in a game since April 2, when the Lakers lost to the Thunder. The Lakers have gotten big production from others in Reaves’ absence, specifically from Luke Kennard, who is averaging 25 points through two playoff games. Should Reaves return in Game 3, it’ll likely be as a starter.

Reaves was injured early in Thursday’s loss to the Thunder. While he continued to play through the injury, the Lakers’ guard appeared to be a shell of himself. With Saturday’s update, the Lakers will finish the regular season without two of their best players, as Luka Dončić (hamstring) was also injured on Thursday. Rui Hachimura and Luke Kennard should take on bigger roles within the rotation, with one moving into the starting lineup.

Reaves appeared to tweak something on the left side of his lower back early in Thursday’s game. While he did play 27 minutes, the Lakers’ guard appeared to be a shell of himself for most of the night. And with Luka Dončić leaving Thursday’s game with a left hamstring injury, the Lakers can’t afford to lose Reaves as well. The Lakers won’t play again until Sunday in Dallas, so Reaves will have a little more time to recover.

Despite not shooting the ball well, Reaves got to the line consistently, neared the 20-point mark, and finished as one of the Lakers’ best scorers on the evening. The versatile combo guard struggled with five turnovers, as well, but made up for his miscues by nearly reaching double figures in assists. Monday wasn’t one of Reaves’ best games, but it could be one that fantasy managers end up being satisfied with.

Reaves was at his best in the fourth quarter, scoring 15 points to help the Lakers pull away from the Nets. He’s now scored at least 24 points in four straight games, the second time he’s accomplished that feat this month. If Luka Dončić has to serve a one-game suspension on Monday after picking up his 16th technical foul during the third quarter, Reaves could go off in a big way against the lottery-bound Wizards.

Reaves was one of four Lakers starters to finish Wednesday’s victory with at least 21 points. He’s scored at least 24 in each of his last three appearances, and the eight assists against the Pacers were the most in a game for Reaves since the Lakers’ March 18 win over the Rockets. The Lakers play once more in Week 22, when they host the lottery-bound Nets on Friday.

Reaves and Luka Dončić combined to score 59 of the Lakers’ 105 points in Orlando, helping extend the team’s win streak to nine games. Since the All-Star break, Reaves has provided third-round value in eight-cat formats. And his fantasy value during the Lakers’ win streak aligns with the post-break production. And despite being on the injury report with a hip injury, Reaves played 40 of a possible 48 minutes against the Magic.

Reaves played through a forearm injury in Thursday’s win over the Heat and is prepared to play Sunday against the Magic despite left hip soreness. The 27-year-old point guard had 18 points, five rebounds and four assists in 40 minutes in the win over the Heat.

While Reaves was also questionable ahead of Thursday’s win over the Heat, that was due to a forearm injury. His appearance on the injury report for Saturday is due to a sore left hip. Luke Kennard is the likely replacement in the starting lineup if Reaves can’t play.

Reaves joins Luka Doncic (hip) and LeBron James (foot) as questionable, so the Lakers could end up rolling out the skeleton crew on the second night of a back-to-back. Luke Kennard would likely step into a starting spot if Reaves is sidelined.

Uncharacteristically, Reaves’ defensive performance topped what he did on the offensive end on Monday. The fifth-year guard led all players in steals and added a blocked shot, tallying five stocks on the evening. On offense, he went without a made three-pointer for only the third time all season, which led to a poor shooting performance overall. Reaves had scored at least 30 points in the three previous games, so it shouldn’t be surprising if he were to bounce back with a strong offensive showing in Wednesday’s rematch against Houston.

While Luka Dončić’s fadeaway with five-tenths of a second remaining in overtime was the deciding basket, he would not have been able to hit that shot if not for Reaves. The Lakers guard successfully pulled off the intentionally missed free throw, grabbing his own rebound and scoring with 1.9 seconds remaining in regulation to force overtime. For the second time this season, Reaves has scored at least 30 points in three consecutive games.

Reaves was part of a Lakers backcourt that combined for 81 points, 13 three-pointers, and 16 assists on Thursday. Alongside Luka Dončić, he impressed in his 39 minutes of action, securing a second straight 30-point game. The fifth-year guard has enjoyed a career-best season so far and should remain a reliable option and one of the best guards for fantasy managers as the fantasy playoffs inch closer.

Despite dealing with a right wrist injury that appeared to give him trouble throughout the night, Reaves recorded his second 30-point stat line since making his return from a strained calf back in early November. With LeBron James (foot) unavailable, Reaves moves up in the offensive pecking order, raising his fantasy ceiling even higher than it already was. The Lakers play two more games in Week 20, starting with the Bulls on Thursday.

The Knicks could stop Reaves or Luka Doncic in this one, allowing the pair to combine for 60 points. On a play in the third quarter that resulted in an assist for Reaves, Knicks point guard Jalen Brunson fell to the floor while defending Reaves. He’s provided sixth-round per game value over the last two weeks. The Lakers have three games coming up in Week 20, starting with a matchup against the Timberwolves on Tuesday.

The combination of the Lakers winning by a comfortable margin and foul trouble limited Reaves to 29 minutes on Friday. In fact, he fouled out for the second time in his career and the first since January 13, 2024. Reaves did provide decent value in points and assists, and fantasy managers were likely hoping for more on a night when the Lakers were without LeBron James (elbow, foot).

He was able to get some offense going in the second half, but it was still a rough outing for him. He missed all six of his shots in the first half and entered the break with just two points. However, he was able to make up for it by making an impact in other ways. This was his sixth straight game with fewer than 20 points, which is quite different from how he started the season. His efficiency and volume have both dropped, but he has still been effective.

Since returning to the starting lineup after the All-Star break, Reaves has scored at least 18 points in three of his last five games. During this stretch, the Lakers’ guard has averaged 18.8 points per game on 48.4 percent shooting from the field and 95.5 percent shooting from the foul line. While Reaves’ fantasy value has taken a hit in the aftermath of his two calf strains, he has remained a top-25 player in eight-cat formats.

After scoring 29 points in his first game back in the Lakers’ starting lineup, Reaves’ production has slipped. He’s scored 18 or less in three straight, shooting 15-of-38 from the field. The good news for fantasy managers is that Reaves’ calf has not given him any trouble since his return, but it would be nice to get more production from him moving forward. Especially with Deandre Ayton (two points, four rebounds and one steal) being the non-factor that he was on Thursday.

While Reaves had a productive second half, shooting 6-of-9 from the field, his subpar first half sunk the Lakers’ guard’s field-goal percentage. However, Reaves has been a top-50 player since the trade deadline, so there isn’t too much for fantasy managers to be worried about. If there is a question to be asked, it’s what Reaves’ availability will look like for the end of Week 18. The Lakers have a back-to-back on Saturday and Sunday, with Sunday’s game against the Kings possibly being one where they look to rest Reaves.

After putting up 29 points in Friday’s win over the Clippers, the first game for Reaves after his minutes restriction was lifted, his impact was limited against the Celtics. The good news for fantasy managers was that he filled the stat line, but Reaves is at a point where it’s fair to expect more from him as a scorer. The Lakers open their four-game Week 18 on Tuesday against the Magic, a matchup that could be another challenging one given Orlando’s perimeter defenders.

Reaves’ minutes restriction was lifted on Friday, which gave him more time on the court to put up strong fantasy numbers. In 32 minutes, he was dialed in from beyond the arc, utilized the free-throw line well, and added a couple steals on the defensive end. Reaves didn’t contribute much as a facilitator, but that didn’t prevent him from finishing with a productive stat line. He’ll take the floor again on Sunday against the Celtics.

In the five games he played after missing time with a strained right calf for the second time this season, Reaves did not exceed 29 minutes. Coming out of the All-Star break, that restriction has been removed, so Reaves will be in the starting lineup for Friday’s game against the Clippers. This will likely bump Marcus Smart to the bench.

Reaves sat out the second leg of the Lakers’ back-to-back on Tuesday, which isn’t surprising after he missed an extended period of time with a calf injury. He’ll return to take on Dallas in their final games before the All-Star break.
