Due to their many injuries, the Pacers signed Robinson-Earl to a 10-day contract over the weekend. Wednesday’s game was the first in which he truly stood out, grabbing 15 rebounds. There’s no need to consider adding Robinson-Earl based on one performance, but he’s looking to earn himself an opportunity, whether it’s with the Pacers or another team.

Robinson-Earl was waived by the Mavericks in October after signing a training camp deal in the offseason. The Pacers interest likely has more to do with their injury situation than anything Robinson-Earl has done recently. He could get some run with the Pacers missing half of their players, but would be facing an uphill battle for minutes once Indiana gets healthy.

Robinson-Earl spent the last two seasons with the Pelicans, appearing in 66 games last season. In those outings, the former second-round pick averaged 6.3 points, 4.8 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 18.8 minutes per game, shooting 45.5 percent from the field and 83.6 percent from the foul line. Robinson-Earl faces long odds of earning rotation minutes in Dallas this season if he makes the opening night roster.

Robinson-Earl struggled with his shot in Sunday’s season finale, but he did provide solid value in the rebound and assist categories. He didn’t offer much value throughout the season, as rotation minutes were not guaranteed. Unfortunately for Robinson-Earl, he’s likely to encounter a similar situation in New Orleans next season with a healthy Zion Williamson in the fold.
