Having started slowly to begin the season, Reid has shown signs of getting back on track. He’s scored 16 points or more in three of his last four outings, including a season-high 21 on Monday. There wasn’t much value to be had outside of the points, percentages and three-pointers, but every little bit helps for category league managers. Anthony Edwards’ absence means there are more touches to go around, and Reid has benefited despite coming off the bench. Given his current run, it may be too late to “buy low” on Reid.

Reid bounced back from a rough shooting night earlier in the week against the Lakers, when he went just 2-of-10 from the field and 1-of-5 from distance. The 26-year-old big man has seen an expanded role early in the season with superstar Anthony Edwards sidelined by a hamstring injury finishing in double figures three times in six contests to open the year.

On the heels of a 16-point, 12-rebound double-double against the Pacers, Reid turned in another strong performance off the bench on Monday. Against the Nuggets, he was one of two Minnesota players to drain multiple three-pointers, tied a team high in rebounds, and finished as one of the Timberwolves’ top three scorers on the evening. With Anthony Edwards out of the lineup for the time being, Reid’s scoring could be of big necessity for this team. Fantasy managers could expect continued productive performances from Reid moving forward.

Reid was 4-for-13 with 11 points in the first two games of the season. The 26-year-old center bounced back against the Pacers on Sunday with a stronger offensive workload. His three-point shot is still off with Reid shooting 2-for-9 from behind the arc this season. Despite those struggles, he’s had three-point field goal percentages of 37.9 and 41.4 over the last two seasons. Reid should be in line for more consistent scoring once he starts making more threes again.

Fresh off their second consecutive trip to the Western Conference Finals, the Timberwolves hope to keep most of their core together for another run. Reid, who opted out of the final year of his current deal, has been a key piece off the bench for Chris Finch’s team, and retaining him would be immense. Finch said earlier this month that he expects Reid and Julius Randle to return to the team next season. Reid staying in Minnesota likely keeps him in the sixth-man role, which limits his fantasy ceiling. However, he’s still worth selecting in all league drafts.

With Randle and Reid have player options for next season, and while there hasn’t been any official update about whether they will pick those options up or not, Finch expects them to remain in Minnesota. That could mean they decline their options and sign new contracts; it would be surprising if Reid accepted a $15 million option for next season. If he signs elsewhere, Reid could find a starting role, which would be ideal for his fantasy production.

Reid has been one of the best reserves in the NBA over the last few seasons. If he chooses to test the free agent waters, it could be to simply gauge his value and earn a fair contract. It doesn’t guarantee that he will leave Minnesota, though if he is able to find a team that wants to him to start, that could be the best thing for his fantasy value. In that scenario, he would be drafted much earlier in fantasy drafts next season.

While Reid shot the ball well in Game 5 and recorded three blocked shots, this was not a good series finale. He was responsible for five turnovers, and the “stocks” don’t tell the whole story, as Reid struggled defensively. The issues on that end of the floor make for an interesting offseason, as Reid can opt out of the final year of his current deal. His offensive ability may drive up the price tag, but his value with another team will depend on the rest of the roster. If Reid is paired with players who can cover for his defensive deficiencies, especially in pick-and-roll actions, he can be effective. And to truly be worth a roll of the dice in standard fantasy leagues, he’ll need to land a starting role. That’s unlikely to happen in Minnesota.

Reid briefly left the floor with an apparent leg injury towards the end of the second quarter before returning in the second half. The 25-year-old center played 34 minutes and was the second leading scorer for the Timberwolves in what turned out to be a lackluster game for Minnesota. Reid appeared healthy in the second half and should continue to be counted on for starter-level minutes despite coming off the bench.

Reid took a Jarred Vanderbilt elbow to the mouth during the second half of Saturday’s series opener, and that was all that slowed him down. The Timberwolves’ backup big scored 17 in the first half and finished the game one steal shy of a complete stat line. Since scoring 20 points in a March 24 loss to the Pacers, Reid surpassed 15 points once in his final eight appearances of the regular season. The Lakers employed a “boxes and elbows” defensive strategy to prevent Anthony Edwards from entering the lane, which allowed players like Reid to receive cleaner looks. His play (and that of Jaden McDaniels) could force the Lakers to alter their approach for Tuesday’s Game 2.

A wild fight broke out with 8:36 remaining in the second quarter, resulting in five players and multiple coaches being ejected. Reid finished two points, two rebounds and one assist in 10 minutes, while DiVincenzo tallied six points, three rebounds, three assists, one steal, two blocks and two three-pointers in 10 minutes. Jaylen Clark’s minutes will likely increase for the remainder of Sunday’s game, and the question for Week 22 is whether Reid or DiVincenzo will be suspended.

Reid’s production has been inconsistent since he was pushed back to the bench. However, when he’s at his best, he can have scoring nights like this in limited minutes. He has scored at least 15 points in three of his last four games and at least 20 points in two of those. Unfortunately, after a three-game week last week, Minnesota only has two more games this week. The schedule has limited Reid’s production more than his on-court play. They have three days off before playing the Suns on Friday.

Reid bounced back on Monday after scoring 21 points on 8-of-26 shooting in his prior three games. The Timberwolves big man took on added responsibilities during the second half and overtime, as Rudy Gobert was ejected during the third quarter. Reid remains a consistently reliable player in fantasy leagues, but the bench role does lower his ceiling.

No singular Timberwolves player stood out offensively on Friday, as seven players scored between 12 and 15 points. However, Reid continues to provide solid value with Rudy Gobert (back) out of the lineup. Since February 13 (Gobert last played on February 12), Reid has averaged 18.1 points, 9.7 rebounds, 3.4 assists, 0.7 steals, 1.3 blocks and 2.7 three-pointers per game. Despite shooting just 40.4 percent from the field, Reid has provided fourth-round value in eight- and nine-cat formats.

Reid led a balanced attack for Minnesota in their win over Philadelphia. He was the team’s leading scorer, though seven different players scored in double figures, including all five starters. Reid had a few subpar shooting nights entering this game, but he was able to hit 50 percent of his shot attempts after shooting below that mark in five straight games. Gobert has missed Minnesota’s last eight games, and it’s unclear how much longer he’ll be sidelined. Reid will remain an elite option in fantasy basketball as part of the starting lineup.

With Anthony Edwards suspended and Rudy Gobert (back) out Friday, Reid led the Timberwolves in shot attempts against the Jazz. The 25-year-old center wasn’t efficient, but got there on volume with 27 points on 25 shots. Reid also grabbed 11 rebounds to earn himself a double-double. He’s fantasy-relevant when Gobert is available, but gets a boost when inserted into the Minnesota starting lineup.
