Having already agreed to a two-way contract with the Mavericks, Nembhard knows he’ll be in training camp with the team this fall. However, his performances in Las Vegas have likely opened some eyes within the organization and throughout the league. Nembhard was the lone Mavericks player to score in double figures against the Hornets and was also responsible for eight of the team’s 15 assists. Nembhard won’t be worth the risk in fantasy drafts, but he could be an intriguing option for the future based on how he’s played in Las Vegas.

Cooper Flagg was the headliner on Thursday, but Nembhard stole the show in some regards. Ryan, the younger brother of Pacers point guard Andrew Nembhard, ran things offensively and was also solid defensively. He’s already agreed to a two-way deal with the Mavericks, so that part of his NBA future is secure. However, with Kyrie Irving recovering from a torn ACL, there may be opportunities for Nembhard to contribute throughout the early part of the season. That isn’t enough to make him a draftable player in most fantasy leagues, but there could eventually be some streaming value.

The younger brother of Pacers guard Andrew Nembhard, Ryan spent two seasons at Creighton before following in Andrew’s footsteps and transferring to Gonzaga. As a senior, the 6-foot point guard led the nation in assists, averaging 9.8 per game, while also accounting for 10.5 points, 3.0 rebounds, 1.7 steals and 1.1 three-pointers. Nembhard averaged only 2.7 three-point attempts per game this past season, but the accuracy was there, as he shot 40.4 percent from beyond the arc. While the lack of size may lead to some overlooking him, Nembhard’s ability as a playmaker and improved perimeter shooter are what have put him on the NBA radar. There is certainly a chance Nembhard gets a chance to play early on in Dallas with Kyrie Irving (knee) sidelined to start the year.
