Sarr came up big for Washington in this game and was able to turn in a strong line across the board. Overall this season, his rebounding has been improved, but the last two games have been rough in that department; he matched his season-low for boards in this one. Still, this has been an excellent start to Sarr’s second season in the league, and he’ll look to keep it going in Detroit on Monday.

Unsurprisingly, Sarr struggled on the glass against Cleveland’s tandem of Evan Mobley and Jarrett Allen. However, the second-year center shot over 50 percent from the field and recorded four blocks, continuing to make strides on both ends of the floor. Sarr’s start to the season has been very encouraging, but there’s still room for improvement. Can he be a top-50 fantasy player for the entire season? Yes. But, for those who don’t believe in Sarr that much, now would be a good time to see what selling high can fetch on the trade market.

While it’s still early in the 2025-26 season, Sarr’s progress from Year 1 to Year 2 has been impressive. He was one of the few bright spots in Wednesday’s blowout loss, continuing an excellent run to begin the season. Sarr is providing top-25 value in nine-cat formats thus far, and you’d be hard-pressed to find a fantasy manager who expected this level of production. While some may be tempted to sell high, his role is such that Sarr can still provide excellent value, and he won’t be a shutdown risk on this rebuilding team.

While he struggled to corral Karl-Anthony Towns defensively, that didn’t prevent Sarr from putting up a solid stat line. The only thing missing from his line was a three-pointer, but the second-year center has taken fewer of those shots thus far to excellent effect. Sarr is shooting 52.7 percent from the field, a significant reason why he’s providing third-round value in eight- and nine-cat formats. Based on his Yahoo! ADP of 83, many expected Sarr to be a top-100 player this season. He’s exceeded those expectations thus far.

Sarr had a relatively quiet night on the offensive end of the floor, but the rebounds and blocks were useful. Through six games, the second-year center is shooting 53.4 percent from the field, a significant improvement on his 39.4 mark as a rookie. Sarr’s three-point attempts have decreased, and he’s been more accurate with the ones he’s taken. He’s shooting 42.9 percent on 2.8 attempts per game after making 30.8 percent of his 5.1 attempts per game as a rookie. Can Sarr maintain top-50 value for the entire season? We’ll see. But there’s no denying that he’s headed in the right direction. The Wizards play four games during Week 3, starting with the Knicks on Monday.

Two nights removed from putting up 23 shots in an overtime loss to the 76ers, Sarr only took 11 shots against the Thunder. While there was some foul trouble for the second-year center to navigate, the Wizards need to make a more concerted effort to get him the ball than they did on Thursday. Especially with Bilal Coulibaly returning from an offseason thumb injury on Thursday. Washington ends its week with a home game against the Magic on Saturday.

Sarr was rolling to start Tuesday’s game, finishing the first half with 20 points and seven rebounds. While the second-year pivot finished with his first career 30-point double-double, the production tailed off after halftime. That’s the next step for Sarr: being consistently dominant. He held his own against the 76ers’ post players, including Joel Embiid. While the Wizards won’t be pleased with letting a double-digit lead slip away, they have to be encouraged by what Sarr did. And the same goes for fantasy managers who have him rostered.

Sarr’s 21 points were a season-high and he blocked three shots for the second consecutive game. The 20-year-old center shot just 39 percent from the field last year, but he’s 19-of-35 (54 percent) on field goal attempts so far this year. That’s a significant development for Sarr if he’s able to continue that level of production over the course of the rest of this season.

Sarr didn’t contribute any defensive stats in the season opener, but he was able to bounce back and provide four stocks to help the Wizards get their first win of the season. Though it has only been two games, Sarr’s field goal percentage has been much better than it was as a rookie, which is a huge development for him. He has only take one three-pointer through two games, and if he is making a commitment to not settle for perimeter looks, he can maintain an efficient shooting percentage.

Sarr did not provide any defensive stats on Wednesday, but he did have an efficient night on offense. The 7-footer shot 50 percent from the field and finished with more assists than turnovers, steps in the right direction given his issues as a rookie. Sarr played 26 minutes on Wednesday, which should increase as the season rolls on. His fantasy value will ultimately be determined by the ability to provide efficient offensive production and record “stocks” consistently. Sarr did not have any steals or blocks on Wednesday.

While Sarr made all six free throw attempts, he struggled with the physicality of the Pistons’ bigs, most notably starter Jalen Duren. That was sometimes an issue for the Wizards center during his rookie season, and it’s unsurprising given his build. What will help Sarr is being able to knock down perimeter shots. He made 30.8 percent of his three-point attempts as a rookie and shot 1-of-4 in two preseason games. Sarr has top-100 potential, especially as a focal point for the rebuilding Wizards, but he has to get better at dealing with physicality to truly flourish.

Sarr, the second overall pick in the 2024 draft, injured his left calf while representing France at EuroBasket this summer. He’s ramped up his activity level over the last week and is on track to see action on Sunday. Sarr will likely be under a minutes restriction against the Raptors, as the goal is to ensure he’s at full strength when the regular season begins on October 22.

Sarr, who appeared in 67 games as a rookie, injured his left calf while playing for France at EuroBasket this summer. He won’t be ready to go when the Wizards open training camp on September 30, but they hope to get their second-year center/forward back towards the end of camp. Sarr being unavailable means more opportunities for Marvin Bagley III and Tristan Vukcevic to show they deserve consistent rotation minutes. That’s a position battle worth tracking if Sarr’s injury keeps him sidelined longer than expected.
