For just the second time this season, Simons recorded a 20-point game, with the 25 matching his tally in an October 27 win over New Orleans. All due respect to the Pelicans, but putting up an efficient 25 points on the Magic is a different matter. Over his last three games, Simons is shooting 19-of-37 from the field, and as a result, his season percentage is approaching 44 percent. His overall fantasy value remains low, but this three-game stretch was much-needed for Simons as he looks to establish himself in Boston. The Celtics begin a three-game Week 4 in Philadelphia on Tuesday.

For the third time this season, Simons made at least four three-pointers in a game. Field-goal percentage and assists have been the issues for him thus far, with the Celtics guard shooting 41.2 percent and averaging a career-low 1.6 assists per game. By comparison, he’s a career 43 percent shooter and averages 3.2 assists. Given the production, he probably should not be rostered in 87 percent of Yahoo! leagues.

Simons had 19 points in 29 minutes off the bench, but he could’ve had a lot more if he shot better than 33 percent from the field. The 26-year-old shooting guard had more attempts than anyone else wearing Celtic green, including Jaylen Brown, who had 32 points. Simons was truly a volume scorer against the 76ers on Friday, which is difficult for fantasy managers because he contribute much in the other categories.

Simons served as Boston’s go-to-option during a fourth-quarter offensive surge that put the Pelicans away for good. He came off the bench to knock down six three-pointers, shooting nearly 50 percent from downtown to help the Celtics snap a three-game losing streak to open the season. The 26-year-old should have the green light all year in his Boston debut as they’ll need to unleash a barrage of three pointers each night to have any chance of overcoming their size disadvantage on the glass.

The Celtics started Chris Boucher, Sam Hauser, Payton Pritchard, Derrick White and Jaylen Brown, but Simons led all players in minutes in this one. He may come off the bench for Boston to start the regular season, but even as a reserve, he should see ample playing time as one of the team’s best offensive options. Simons will be a great three-point specialist in fantasy leagues, but doesn’t contribute much in the other categories.

Simons was not on the floor when the Celtics blew a big lead during the fourth quarter, having been shut down late in the third quarter. And the former Trail Blazer looked pretty good during his 26 minutes, shooting just under 50 percent from the field. With Derrick White and Jaylen Brown getting the night off, there wasn’t anything to learn regarding Simons’ fit with his most prominent teammates. Whether he starts or comes off the bench, he’ll be well-positioned to provide solid offensive value when the regular season begins.

Boucher is the lone holdover from the lineup that started Wednesday’s win over the Grizzlies. Simons and Pritchard make up the starting backcourt, with the former making his unofficial Celtics debut after being traded from Portland to Boston during the summer. This change may mean Derrick White and Jaylen Brown will get the night off after playing well in Memphis. Also of note are the inclusion of Minott and Queta, with the former giving Boston good minutes off the bench in the preseason opener.

Drafted by the Trail Blazers in 2018, Simons spent seven years in Portland and averaged between 17.3 and 22.6 points per game over the last four years. He’s entering a situation with the Celtics where he could continue to score a lot of points in the absence of Jayson Tatum and now Jrue Holiday. With Simons on an expiring contract, the Celtics made a low risk move getting away from the $72 million owed to Holiday. The Celtics could remain active in the trade market, only adding to Simons’ opportunity next year. Simons was ranked 110 in per game value on Basketball Monster last year. After playing a career-high 70 games last year, Simons could be set up for a career-year with the Celtics.

Simons and Henderson will miss Portland’s final game of the season, meaning Dalano Banton will remain in the starting lineup. He should be slotted into lineups in active fantasy leagues due to Portland’s lack of options at point guard. While Simons finished the season as a ninth-round player in eight- and nine-cat formats, Henderson was ranked well outside the top-100 in both. Henderson’s per-game value did improve compared to his rookie season, which is encouraging. But he remains a better option for points leagues than category leagues.

Simons has missed Portland’s last three games with a forearm injury, and Dalano Banton has replaced him in the starting lineup. While inefficiency can be an issue for Banton, he’s worth streaming when allowed to start, especially with Scoot Henderson (concussion) unavailable.

Simons has been downgraded from questionable to out, which means more playing time for Dalano Banton. Since Scoot Henderson (concussion) is also out, fantasy managers should not hesitate to stream Banton. As for Cissoko, his continued absence does not impact fantasy basketball, as he is not usually in the rotation.

Simons will miss a second-straight game, and with Scoot Henderson still sidelined, Dalano Banton will get another start at point guard. He had 11 points, seven rebounds, five assists and four blocks as a starter on Tuesday and should be worth streaming against Toronto.

Simons has been upgraded from questionable to available for Sunday’s game. His return pushes Scoot Henderson to the bench, but the second-year guard won’t lack playing time despite being used in a reserve role. Those who have Scoot rostered should hold onto him.

Simons is a late addition to the injury report, which puts his status for Friday’s game in serious question. Donovan Clingan was also added late in the day with an illness, so it may be something going around the team. In Simons is ruled out, Scoot Henderson should start.

Simons has now scored at least 20 points in five of his last six games. The 25-year-old shooting guard has had better shooting nights as he was just 8-of-24 from the field, but ended up eclipsing the 20-point mark on volume. Simons has five games with at least 30 points in March. With the Trail Blazers still in Play-In Tournament contention, he should avoid rest days and a late-season shutdown.

Aside from a dud against New York last week, this has been an excellent stretch for Simons. He has scored at least 20 points in four of his last five games and at least 30 points in three of those. What made his performance on Monday even more impressive was that he only played 23 minutes. This was a second-straight win for Portland, and they currently sit just three games out of the Play-In Tournament. As long as there is a chance they can sneak in, Simons should continue to be a viable option.

Simons rebounded nicely on Sunday after scoring six points on 2-of-11 shooting in Wednesday’s loss to the Knicks. He has been dealing with a sore right hand, but this did not appear to give Anfernee any trouble against the Raptors. Simons has not missed a game since January 19, which may indicate he’ll be available for Monday’s game against the Wizards. If he does not play, Scoot Henderson (5/5/5/1 with one three-pointer in 30 minutes) will be the replacement in the starting lineup.

While Simons has not missed a game since January 19, Williams has been out for Portland’s last 11 with a lingering knee injury. The former’s availability is more impactful on the rotation, as Scoot Henderson would move into the starting lineup. As for the Time Lord, his continued absence would mean more minutes for Duop Reath.

Simons has now had at least 30 points in four of his last five games. The 25-year-old shooting guard now has 38 career 30-point games, including eight this season. Simons has established himself as a prolific scorer in the league. The only question for him over the course of the rest of the season is if the Trail Blazers opt to shut him down or at least give him regular rest days.

Simons recorded his 37th career 30-point game on Sunday, moving his tally to seven for the season. Having met or exceeded that number in three of his last four outings, the Trail Blazers guard has provided top-40 value in eight- and nine-cat formats over the past week. And Simons’ value since the All-Star break has been two rounds higher than he’s provided fantasy managers for the season. The question is whether Portland management will let Simons and the other veterans “run through the tape” and play out the season. However, the Blazers have one of the worst fantasy playoff schedules, as they only play 10 games during Weeks 19-21 and 11 during Weeks 20-22.
