Just over two weeks removed from recording his first career double-double, Scheierman posted his second on Tuesday. Since moving into the starting lineup on February 8, the second-year guard has averaged 8.6 points, 7.2 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.4 three-pointers in 27.5 minutes per game. Scheierman’s production hasn’t been enough to get him on the radar of most fantasy leagues, but he’s played well enough to remain in the starting lineup.

Starting for the injured Sam Hauser (back), Scheierman had arguably the best game of his two-year NBA career. The second-year guard recorded his second double-double, finishing with career-highs in rebounds and assists. His fantasy ceiling depends on whether he starts or comes off the bench, but Scheierman will be worth streaming when allowed to approach 30 minutes, as he did against the Knicks.

The Celtics are without Sam Hauser for Sunday’s game due to lower back spasms. Scheierman will fill the resulting void, but he offers limited streaming value in that role. Payton Pritchard and Nikola Vučević will anchor the bench unit.

The Celtics have Payton Pritchard for Tuesday’s game, but he will come off the bench while Scheierman steps into the lineup. The second-year guard has made a few spot starts recently, but the production has not been such that he’s a must-stream. That said, Tuesday’s matchup could be favorable because of the Mavericks’ limited depth.

Scheierman entered the starting unit with Jaylen Brown (hamstring, knee) sidelined for this game, which was also the case in Brown’s previous absence. It wasn’t an explosive performance, but Scheierman was able to contribute decent value in an increased role. If Brown remains out against the Bucks on Sunday, Scheierman should be in line to start once again. He was solid in this game and would hold upside as a streamer, but he isn’t worth rostering beyond that.

Scheierman will make his third start of the season on Friday, replacing Derrick White (rest) in the Celtics’ opening five. The second-year guard hasn’t had much production so far this season, but did post a 9/7/4 line with three three-pointers and three steals in his most recent start. He’ll have a chance to put up decent numbers against the Nets as the Celtics try for back-to-back wins.

The Celtics won’t have Payton Pritchard for Saturday’s game, opening up a spot in the starting lineup. Scheierman receives the nod, which raises his fantasy ceiling slightly. However, Anfernee Simons may benefit the most despite coming off the bench.

The Celtics won’t have Jaylen Brown for Monday’s game, as he’s out with a lower back injury. His absence opens up a spot in the lineup for Hauser, who did not play in Saturday’s loss to the Spurs. The other change to the lineup is Scheierman, whose first start of the season comes at the expense of rookie Hugo González.

Scheierman’s first half certainly raised some eyebrows, as he scored 13 points on 5-of-6 shooting. That production helped keep the Celtics within striking distance, especially with Derrick White scoring two points. However, White got going after halftime, and Scheierman only attempted one shot in the second half. The second-year guard is capable of providing offensive value, but it hasn’t happened consistently. There’s no need to roster Scheierman in redraft leagues.

Scheierman saw extended run in the second half with the Celtics getting blown out on the second night of a back-to-back. He made the most of the opportunity, hitting 6-of-7 shots — including 4-of-5 from beyond the arc. Performances like this can only help his chances of carving out a more consistent role in Boston’s rotation.

Scheierman was the 30th overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft. He has appeared in four games for the Celtics this season, averaging only 8.5 minutes per game. His role may increase as the season goes on and the Celtics adapt to life without Jayson Tatum. For now, he remains off all fantasy radars.

Scheierman had another productive showing on Monday, finishing one assist shy of a double-double. With Jayson Tatum set to miss most of the 2025-26 season, if not all of it, as he recovers from a ruptured Achilles tendon, and Jrue Holiday gone, rotation minutes will be available on the perimeter. Scheierman’s ability to make plays for himself and others makes him someone to watch, even if he isn’t guaranteed to be fantasy-relevant.

Given the many changes to the Celtics’ roster since the end of the 2024-25 season, Scheierman is a young player who should have more opportunities to contribute next season. He shot 1-of-7 from three on Sunday, but the rebounds and assists were encouraging. Scheierman is not a must-select player in 12-team drafts, but he’ll be worth a look in deeper formats. What could change that would be if Boston were to trade Sam Hauser, whose name has come up in rumors this offseason as the Celtics navigate the salary cap.

On most nights when the Celtics are shorthanded, Payton Pritchard is the reserve who steps up. It was Scheierman’s turn on Tuesday, as he recorded new career highs in points (20), field goals (seven) and three-pointers (six) against the Nets. And the first-round pick only required 16 minutes to do it. Pritchard (10/4/2 with three three-pointers) also hit double-figures in the win, but Scheierman was the star for the Celtics. While there could come a point down the stretch when the Celtics give the rookie more opportunities as the veterans prepare for the postseason, that isn’t guaranteed. There’s no need to add Scheierman in the aftermath of Tuesday’s performance.

The rookie out of Creighton came into this one averaging just over six minutes per game across 15 appearances for the Celtics. With so many injuries across the roster, Boston was forced to lean on Scheierman, Neemias Queta, Torrey Craig and Drew Peterson. Scheierman was the best of that group, and he set a number of career highs, including points, three-pointers, assists and minutes. Don’t expect a repeat performance unless Boston is decimated with injuries again.
