Smith did not see action in Tuesday’s loss to the Raptors, and he won’t be available for Thursday’s rematch. His absence has minimal impact on the Heat rotation, especially if Norman Powell can play.

After missing Tuesday’s loss to the Raptors, Smith has a chance to take the floor in Thursday’s rematch. The fourth-year guard has played a complementary role throughout the year, logging just one start while playing 16.3 minutes per game overall. He’s totaled only 26 minutes over his last four appearances.

Smith had nine points in 21 minutes in Thursday’s win over the Nets. The 28-year-old guard was initially listed as probable, so his availability against the Hornets on Friday isn’t a surprise. In his current role, Smith isn’t worth rostering in fantasy leagues.

Smith is good to go after initially being listed as questionable. With Davion Mitchell (illness) unavailable, there should be a few more minutes available to Smith. That said, he won’t be worth the risk in most redraft leagues.

Smith played only three minutes in the win over the Hawks on Friday. While he’s questionable with a calf injury for Saturday’s game against the Grizzlies, he could see more minutes if he’s available with Davion Mitchell (illness) doubtful.

Smith was the only Heat player to not practice, which puts his status for Tuesday’s game against Orlando up in the air. With both Pelle Larsson and Davion Mitchell back, Smith won’t get the opportunity to start a second game in a row regardless of his health.

Smith is available after a hip injury landed him on the initial injury report. While he should remain in the rotation, his playing time may decrease, as this will be the healthiest the Heat have been this season. Leave Smith on the waiver wire.

Smith is one of four Heat players questionable for Wednesday’s game due to hip injuries. If he’s unable to play, the Heat will need to fill the backup point guard role, but multiple players already in the rotation may absorb the available minutes. There’s no need to add anyone to account for Smith’s potential absence.

Smith should be available to occupy his typical role off the bench. He has been a solid source of steals this year, but he’s only played 17.1 minutes per game. Unless there are multiple backcourt injuries in front of him, he isn’t worth rostering.

Tyler Herro won’t be available to begin the season as he recovers from offseason left foot/ankle surgery, making the Heat’s preseason games critical for finding a fifth starter. Smith, whose last two seasons have ended prematurely due to knee and Achilles injuries, will get his turn in the chair after coming off the bench in Miami’s first two preseason games. Jaime Jaquez Jr., who started Monday’s loss to Milwaukee, will come off the bench. In addition to Smith and Jaquez, fantasy managers should track Davion Mitchell, who may be the safest option of the three due to his defensive ability.

Smith, who agreed to a three-year deal with the Heat in August, missed most of last season after suffering a ruptured Achilles tendon just before Christmas. He’s suffered season-ending injuries during the previous two years, with a torn ACL ending the guard’s 2023-24 campaign. While Smith has not gotten the minutes needed to impact fantasy basketball consistently when healthy, he’ll have the opportunity to earn rotation minutes while Tyler Herro recovers from foot surgery.

Smith has had terrible luck with injuries, as his last two seasons have ended prematurely due to a torn ACL and a ruptured Achilles tendon. However, this did not prevent the Heat from signing him to a standard contract for the next three seasons. While the 2025-26 campaign is fully guaranteed, Smith’s contract for the following two seasons is conditionally guaranteed. Smith is not guaranteed to be fully recovered from the Achilles injury in time for the start of the upcoming season, but he’ll have an opportunity to earn minutes once cleared.
