Toronto’s projected starters are resting, so the team’s second unit will start Friday’s preseason home opener. Murray-Boyles, the Raptors’ first-round pick in June’s draft, can play power forward or center, which can also be said for Mamukelashvili. As for the fill-ins on the perimeter, all three can use solid performances to strengthen their chances of playing consistent rotation minutes when the regular season begins.

Shead was a defensive menace during his rookie season, and that has carried into this summer. He is averaging 11.7 points, six assists and two steals per game this summer, and he should be a valuable reserve heading into his second NBA season, though his statistical upside is limited.

While Shead did not have a great afternoon shooting the basketball, he was excellent at distributing it. The first-round pick out of Houston is the seventh rookie and first since Deron Williams to have an eight-game run in which he recorded at least 53 assists and nine turnovers or less. Like fellow rookie Jonathan Mogbo, Shead has received additional opportunities because veterans have been unavailable. Managers whose leagues will be active during Week 23 should strongly consider adding Shead, especially if they need assists.

Shead, who filled in for Immanuel Quickley on Sunday, has reached double figures in scoring in four of his last five outings. The rookie point guard has been a little more valuable recently on nights when Quickley is available, but Shead should only be rostered on nights when he starts. Rostered in three percent of Yahoo! leagues, the Raptors guard may be worth holding onto for the beginning of Week 21. Toronto plays four games, starting with the Wizards on Monday. While Quickley could be available, this may be a spot where the Raptors decide to sit Scottie Barnes and RJ Barrett.

Shead is good to go after initially being probable for Sunday’s game. With Immanuel Quickley (rest) out, the rookie will likely be in the starting lineup. While Shead doesn’t have the highest fantasy ceiling, he’s worth the risk in deep leagues.

While Shead landing on the injury report means he isn’t a lock to play on Sunday, the probable tag suggests he’ll be cleared. With Immanuel Quickley (rest) unavailable, Shead may move into the starting lineup. If so, he’ll be worth streaming in deep leagues.

Shead had a solid performance in this one, but he’ll be most remembered for his play in the closing seconds. With just over two seconds left, Shead nearly cost his team the ball by shuffling his feet as the inbounder. He went from hero to goat almost instantly by hitting a would-be game-winning shot at the buzzer, but a review from the refs showed that his fingertips were still on the ball while the clock read triple zeroes. There will be no love lost when these two teams meet again on Monday.
