With OG Anunoby (toe) out, Shamet moved into the starting lineup on Sunday. Unfortunately for those who may have streamed him for the three-point potential, the veteran wing shot 1-of-4 from three and offered limited value in his 28 minutes. Rookie Mohamed Diawara had the better day, contributing 10 points (4-of-4 FGs), three rebounds, one assist, one steal and two three-pointers in 27 minutes off the bench. The streaming values of Shamet and Diawara moving forward depend on Anunoby’s availability.

Towns is back in the Knicks’ starting lineup after a one-game absence, pushing Mitchell Robinson to the bench. The other change to the lineup is Shamet, who replaces Mohamed Diawara. This is the second consecutive game that the Knicks will be without OG Anunoby (toe).

On a night when the Knicks didn’t get much production out of Mikal Bridges (five points, four rebounds, four assists, one steal, one block and one three-pointer), Shamet stepped up off the bench. For the first time since returning from a shoulder injury, he’s reached double figures in three consecutive games. Shamet still isn’t at a point where he should be rostered in fantasy leagues, but he has given the Knicks solid production off the bench.

With Miles McBride missing the last three games with an ankle injury, the Knicks have called Shamet’s name more often. After totaling 14 points in his prior three games, the 6-foot-4 wing answered the call in a big way on Sunday. Shamet matched his season-high with six three-pointers, and the 23 points were the most in a game for him since dropping 36 in a November 14 win over the Heat. While he isn’t in a place where he has to be rostered in deep leagues, Shamet is capable of getting hot as he did on Sunday.

On a day when Mikal Bridges (9/3/4 with one three-pointer) and Miles McBride (9/1/2/2 with one three-pointer) combined to shoot 2-of-17 from beyond the arc, Shamet gave the Knicks excellent minutes off the bench. This is the first time he’s reached double figures in consecutive games since returning from a shoulder injury that sidelined him for 25 games. Shamet isn’t worth rostering when the Knicks are whole, but the last two games were a step in the right direction.

Shamet was red-hot from beyond the arc on Wednesday, making all six of his attempts on the night. While his role doesn’t make him a viable option in most fantasy leagues, the Knicks’ reserve has averaged 2.3 three-pointers per game since returning from a shoulder injury. Shamet will only be worth a look on nights when the Knicks are shorthanded on the wings.

Thursday’s game will be Shamet’s first since November 22, when he injured his shoulder against the Magic. While his return gives the Knicks additional depth on the perimeter, he’s unlikely to immediately emerge as a player worth rostering in most fantasy leagues.

Having last appeared in a game on November 22, Shamet is closing in on a return to action. If he’s able to play Thursday night, the wing will give the Knicks another option to utilize in chasing around Stephen Curry.

While Shamet remains out for Wednesday’s game against the Kings, he’s closing in on a return to action. Late last week, he was cleared for contact, and now he’s practiced without any issues. He’ll give the Knicks additional depth on the wing, which won’t affect fantasy basketball but may push Tyler Kolek further out of the rotation.

Clared to resume basketball activities a few days after Christmas, Shamet has recently done some controlled contact work, according to Knicks head coach Mike Brown. He still doesn’t have a clearly defined return timeline, so the Knicks will continue without one of their reserve wings for the time being.

Shamet has been out since late November after suffering a sprained right shoulder and does not have a clear return timeline. While the return to basketball activities is a step in the right direction, the veteran wing still has not been cleared for contact. While Mohamed Diawara has received a few more opportunities recently, this does not affect fantasy basketball.

Shamet sustained the injury in Saturday’s loss to Orlando, and he’ll be out through at least late December. Shamet’s play time and production were trending up prior to his injury, and his absence will free up additional playing time for Miles McBride and Jordan Clarkson.

Shamet injured his right shoulder during Saturday’s loss to the Magic. The good news is that the Knicks are listing the injury as a sprain, as he dislocated the same shoulder during the 2024-25 preseason. Mohamed Diawara and Tyler Kolek played rotation minutes on Saturday, but neither is in a position to provide tangible fantasy value.

Shamet injured his right shoulder when he ran into a Wendell Carter Jr. screen. This is the same shoulder he dislocated during the 2024-25 preseason, spending months on the shelf before joining the Knicks mid-season. With Miles McBride now questionable due to an illness, the Knicks have called on Tyler Kolek and Mohamed Diawara to play rotation minutes off the bench.

McBride has rejoined the Knicks after not traveling to Miami with the team for personal reasons, and he’ll continue to start in place of the injured Jalen Brunson. Also in the starting lineup is Shamet, who steps into the spot left vacant by the injured OG Anunoby. Unlike Brunson, who’s considered day-to-day, OG will be out for at least two weeks. Shamet is worth considering in deep leagues, especially after going off for 36 points in Friday’s win over the Heat.

Shamet had a unique opportunity in this game. With Jalen Brunson out and OG Anunoby leaving the game early, the 28-year-old shooting guard saw 37 minutes against the Heat. Shamet had to play at a certain point as he was on fire and ended up with 36 points, which was the most of any bench player this season. He’s best used in deeper formats for his scoring and three-point shooting.

Tuesday’s game is the first of two in as many nights for the Knicks, who host the Magic on Wednesday. As a result, Mitchell Robinson is out, with Shamet making his third start of the season. In the two prior starts, Shamet averaged 13.5 points, 4.0 rebounds and 3.0 three-pointers. He’s worth a look in deep leagues where there’s a need for three-pointers.

The Knicks are without Mitchell Robinson, who will sit due to left ankle injury management. Shamet, who started the October 28 loss to the Bucks, will fill the void. Given the matchup, he should be suitable for a few three-pointers. The Knicks’ other four starters are unchanged.

With Miles McBride (personal) unavailable, Shamet moved into the starting lineup on Tuesday. He made good use of his opportunity, shooting 4-of-9 from beyond the arc and joining Jalen Brunson and Mikal Bridges in double figures. Shamet totaled 12 points and 44 minutes in New York’s first three games, making dismissing Tuesday as an outlier easy. However, if McBride can’t rejoin the team for Friday’s game against the Bulls in Chicago, that could be another matchup in which Mike Brown decides to start Shamet rather than Ariel Hukporti (three rebounds, one assist and one steal in 10 minutes).

Knicks head coach Mike Brown has used matchups to determine who will be the fifth starter to begin the season. With Miles McBride (personal) away from the team, Shamet will start as part of a smaller starting five. Ariel Hukporti, who started Sunday’s loss to the Heat, will head to the bench and is not guaranteed to be in the rotation.

Friday night’s preseason finale was a big deal for Shamet, and it may have offered a clue regarding the Knicks’ approach to their final available roster spots. While Shamet played 20 minutes off the bench, neither Garrison Mathews nor Pacôme Dadiet saw any action. Dadiet was the subject of trade rumors earlier this preseason, but that was during a time when Malcolm Brogdon was still on the roster. With Brogdon announcing his retirement earlier this week, Dadiet’s odds of being traded to free up a spot for another veteran may have decreased. If so, that may be bad news for Mathews, who was also in the mix for one of those final spots.

Shamet appeared in 50 games for the Knicks last season and will now be back as a depth piece on the perimeter for New York. While he is more than capable of spacing the floor, he only played 15.2 minutes per game last season, and that will likely decrease with Jordan Clarkson now with the team.

Added to the Knicks’ injury report earlier Tuesday afternoon, Shamet will be available for Game 5. However, he totaled 10 minutes in Games 2 through 4, so he may not figure prominently in New York’s bench rotation.

Shamet is a late addition to the injury report for Game 5, which is a concerning development regarding his availability for the game. After playing 10 minutes in Game 1, he logged a total of 10 minutes in the next three contests. Shamet’s absence would not be highly impactful if he’s unable to play.

With Mikal Bridges checking out six seconds into Sunday’s game, Shamet became a primary scoring option on Sunday. He made the most of his opportunity, shooting 7-of-13 from three and recording a season-high point total. Shamet shot 14-of-27 from three in his final three games of the season. While the Knicks did not have much on the line, the recent run could ensure that Shamet plays rotation minutes during the first-round series against Detroit. Game 1 will be on Saturday or Sunday.

Shamet has not been a factor in fantasy basketball, but he’s made at least one three-pointer in 12 straight games. The five he hit on Friday were the most in a game for the Knicks wing since April 1, when Shamet knocked down six in a win over the 76ers. With Miles McBride (12/1/1/1 with three three-pointers in 18 minutes) being New York’s best bench scorer, Shamet’s production will be needed in the playoffs. Despite Friday’s loss, the Knicks clinched the three-seed due to Indiana’s loss to Orlando. They’ll face Detroit in the first round, which begins next weekend.

Shamet has played solid basketball recently, hitting multiple three-pointers in four straight games and reaching double figures in four of his last five. Tuesday’s performance was his best of the season, as the Knicks guard established season highs in points and three-pointers. Shamet did not provide much else that would benefit category league managers. Still, the minutes will be there as the Knicks continue without Jalen Brunson, Miles McBride and Cameron Payne. Shamet is not a must-add player, but he may be worth a look for New York’s Saturday/Sunday back-to-back among managers needing three-pointers in their matchups.
