Thomas, who exited Wednesday’s win over the Pacers during the first quarter, has been diagnosed with a strained left hamstring. His absence impacts multiple players, most notably Tyrese Martin. Martin played 27 minutes on Wednesday and may be moved into the starting lineup. Rookies Egor Dëmin and Ben Saraf are also potential replacements. Also, Thomas’ absence will result in increased usage for Michael Porter Jr. and Terance Mann, with the former scoring 32 points on Wednesday.

Thomas exited early on Wednesday and will be held out on Friday. It’s unclear how long of an absence this will be, though he did miss over two months last season with a hamstring injury. Michael Porter Jr. will see an uptick in usage, while Tyrese Martin will help make up the minutes. Martin played 27 minutes off the bench on Wednesday and contributed 16 points and four three-pointers.

Thomas exited Wednesday’s game after six minutes due to left hamstring tightness, playing six minutes and going scoreless with one assist. Tyrese Martin checked in a bit earlier than usual and may be in for a boost in minutes if Thomas misses additional time. The Nets host Detroit on Friday.

One day after scoring 29 points against the 76ers, Thomas dropped in another 25 on Monday. He’s scored 25 points or more in four of Brooklyn’s first seven games and is averaging 24.3 per. However, Thomas’s fantasy value in category leagues remains low due to his limited assist and defensive production. On Monday, he was solid in the assist and steal categories but remains ranked outside the top-100 in eight- and nine-cat formats.

The good news for fantasy managers is that Thomas provided value in points and three-pointers. However, that’s about all that he did on Sunday. Not only did he record just one rebound and one assist, but there were defensive lapses that factored into Kelly Oubre’s 22-point first quarter for the 76ers. Thomas, an unrestricted free agent next summer, will get his points. However, his financial ceiling in free agency will be determined by what he brings to the table in all areas, not just scoring.

While Thomas is averaging 23.3 points per game this season, his field-goal percentage has significantly damaged his fantasy value. He’s shooting 39.5 percent from the field, which would be the lowest of his five-year career. Thomas is going to get his numbers, and the fantasy value should improve over the course of the season. However, inefficiency was a concern, especially on a team that’s limited regarding playmakers who can set up their teammates. Thomas will look to clean some things up when Brooklyn hosts the 76ers on Sunday.

One game removed from fracturing his nose after landing face-first during a loss to the Cavaliers, Thomas suffered another facial injury on Sunday. He suffered a cut over his left eye late in the second quarter. However, while Thomas was not on the court to begin the second half, he returned to continue his offensive assault. The Nets guard finished with his first 40-point game since November 15, 2024, shooting 44 percent from the field and 100 percent from the foul line. Unfortunately, Thomas did not provide any assists or defensive status, but experienced fantasy managers know not to expect consistent value from him in those categories.

Thomas wasn’t much of a factor in the Nets’ loss to the Hornets on Wednesday with 15 points on 2-of-9 shooting in 24 minutes. It was a different story for Thomas on Friday against the Cavaliers as he dropped 33 points and had nine assists with just three turnovers. The Nets still lost, but only by seven points. Thomas’ role could become tenuous on a rebuilding team later in the season, but for now he’s certainly a priority for their offense.

With Thomas deciding in early September to sign his one-year qualifying offer, he’ll be an unrestricted free agent next summer. While the Nets guard’s scoring ability has rarely been questioned, his ability to make things happen for his teammates has been up for debate. Making strides in that regard would go a long way toward ensuring Thomas gets the lucrative payday he desires. With the Nets embarking on a rebuild, should fantasy managers be concerned about a potential shutdown later in the season? That’s certainly something to consider, but Thomas’ opportunity will raise his ceiling, at least until the trade deadline.

Thomas looked long and hard for a long-term deal that met his money expectations, but he wasn’t able to find that from any team. Now, he’ll bet on himself and return to Brooklyn for one more year before exploring unrestricted free agency next summer. Thomas could be the first domino to fall in restricted free agency, as Josh Giddey, Jonathan Kuminga and Quentin Grimes have all yet to sign contracts.

With Thomas being a restricted free agent and most teams lacking the cap space needed to produce an offer sheet that the Nets would not match, the franchise holds all the leverage in the negotiations. According to Fischer, “the Nets’ offers to date have not exceeded two-year proposals featuring an annual average value in the range of the league’s $14.1 million non-taxpayer midlevel exception.” And those offers include a team option for the second season. Thomas can continue to play the “waiting game” in hopes of landing a more lucrative proposal from the Nets, and there’s also the possibility of accepting his qualifying offer, which would make him an unrestricted free agent next summer. Given Brooklyn’s lack of proven scorers, sticking around could boost his fantasy value, especially in points leagues.

With Thomas’ hamstring coming this late in the season, the Nets don’t expect the 23-year-old shooting guard to return this year. He should be fully recovered by the time next season comes around, though. Keon Johnson figures to pick up additional usage and playing time in Thomas’ absence.

It’s no secret that Thomas is an elite scorer, but he showed that he can be more than that on Thursday. He set a new career-high for assists and recorded the first double-double of his career in Brooklyn’s loss to Chicago. In his six appearances since returning from his extended absence with a hamstring injury, Thomas has dished out at least six assists in three of them. Thomas will always be known for his scoring, but if he can continue to be a playmaker at this level, his value to the Nets and to dynasty managers will skyrocket.

Thomas missed the first night of the back-to-back for Brooklyn, but he returned to the lineup on Tuesday. He got right back to being an elite scoring option and contributed 16 of his 27 points in the first half. Not only was this Thomas’ highest-scoring performance since November, but his 32 minutes were also the most that he has played in a game since then. Brooklyn still has three more games this week, though they have a back-to-back on Saturday and Sunday. Saturday’s game is a tougher matchup (Boston), so expect Thomas to play in that game and sit out against Atlanta on Sunday.

Thomas and Watford will sit out the first game of the Nets’ back-to-back as they face the Cavaliers on Tuesday. Cameron Johnson (knee) will be available, so he can slide into the spot in the starting lineup left vacant by Thomas. As for Watford, his absence frees up additional minutes for Noah Clowney and Jalen Wilson.

Like D’Angelo Russell, availability has been an issue for Thomas. He’s only appeared in two games since injuring his hamstring on January 2, limiting his fantasy upside. And with the Nets playing two back-to-backs during Week 19, Thomas may be looking at a three-game week at best. Keon Johnson (8/7/1/1 with one three-pointer) only played 18 minutes off the bench, but he may be worth holding onto in deep leagues as a safety net in case Thomas misses more time.

Johnson, Williams and Claxton are the holdovers from the quintet that started Saturday’s loss to the Pistons. Russell and Thomas replace Killian Hayes (whose 10-day contract expired) and Keon Johnson, who will play quality minutes off the bench. Given the unpredictable availability of Russell and Thomas, Keon is worth holding onto in deep leagues.

Thomas sat out the second night of Brooklyn’s back-to-back on Saturday, but he will be back against San Antonio. He should return to take his spot in the starting unit, which will push Keon Johnson back to a reserve role.

Thomas returned from a hamstring injury that kept him out for almost two months Friday, but the Nets are going to manage the 23-year-old shooting guard’s injury and he will sit out the second leg of the back-to-back against the Pistons. Keon Johnson will likely move back into the starting lineup with Thomas out.

Thomas started, but played only 21 minutes as the Nets lost by 19 points Friday. The 23-year-old shooting guard had been out for almost two months with a hamstring injury. While his minutes should only increase from here, Thomas can put up points in a short amount of time on the floor. He had 16 points against Portland while missing all four of his 3-point attempts. It should only get better from here for Thomas.

Claxton is back after serving a one-game suspension on Wednesday, meaning Day’Ron Sharpe will head to the bench. The more notable change is Thomas, who is back after missing nearly two months with a hamstring injury. Fantasy managers shouldn’t expect too much from him immediately, but Thomas doesn’t need much time to explode offensively. Due to his return, Keon Johnson heads to the bench, where his fantasy value takes a hit.

Thomas, who hasn’t played since January 2, will make his return against Portland after missing nearly two months. Thomas has been a starter for most of the season, but it wouldn’t be surprising if he came off the bench and was on a strict minutes restriction. Eventually, Thomas will likely overtake Keon Johnson and Tyrese Martin in the rotation, though the Nets will likely be careful with him to avoid further injury.
