Jae’Sean Tate (ankle) is available to play against the Pistons on Friday.

Tate will be available to make his season debut after missing Tuesday’s game against the Thunder. If Tate sees the floor, he will only play a minimal role off the bench.

Jae’Sean Tate (ankle) is questionable to play against the Pistons on Friday.

Tate missed the season opener, and Ime Udoka’s hope was to have him back for this game. There is a chance, though his role in the rotation will likely be limited, if he sees the floor at all.

    Injury

Rockets head coach Ime Udoka said Tuesday that he hopes to have Jae’Sean Tate (ankle) available for Friday’s home opener.

Still recovering from offseason ankle surgery, Tate did not play at all during the preseason and will not be available for Tuesday’s opener against the Thunder. However, he appears close to a return, with Udoka saying the team hopes to have Tate available on Friday. He can fill multiple roles, providing frontcourt depth off the bench, but there isn’t much to gain from rostering Tate in fantasy leagues.

Jae’Sean Tate (ankle) is out for Tuesday’s game against the Thunder.

Tate, who underwent right ankle surgery during the offseason, is not ready to return to game action. He did not offer fantasy value last season, and that’s unlikely to change in 2025-26, especially with the offseason additions to the Rockets’ roster.

    HoopsHype’s Michael Scotto reports the Rockets re-signed F Jae’Sean Tate to a one-year, $3 million deal.

It was reported earlier Monday that the Rockets intended to bring back Tate, Jeff Green, and Aaron Holiday. Contract details regarding the former have now been reported, with Tate expected to earn $3 million. He appeared in 52 games last season, averaging 3.6 points and 2.3 rebounds in 11.3 minutes. With Houston adding Kevin Durant via trade, Tate’s playing time is unlikely to change much in 2025-26. For that reason, he won’t be worth selecting in fantasy drafts.

ESPN’s Shams Charania reports that the Rockets intend to resign free agents Jae’Sean Tate, Aaron Holiday and Jeff Green.

Houston is doing everything in its power to get the band back together alongside new addition Kevin Durant. None of the trio of Tate, Holiday and Green hold much fantasy value, but they’ll provide solid minutes off the bench in Houston’s deep rotation.

Jae’Sean Tate (ankle) and Jock Landale (knee) will remain sidelined for Game 3 against the Warriors on Saturday.

Both reserves will miss another game of this series, but neither would likely have been part of the rotation in the postseason. Their continued absences will not have an impact on this series.

Jae’Sean Tate (ankle) has been ruled out for Sunday’s game against the Nuggets and is considered week-to-week.

Tate was ruled out for Houston’s final regular season a day in advance and his return date for the postseason is up in the air. He hasn’t played a significant role for the Rockets this season and his recovery shouldn’t affect the team’s preferred rotation.

Jae’Sean Tate (ankle) is out for Sunday’s game against the Nuggets.

Tate is the lone player on the Rockets’ injury report for Sunday’s game, so the team will put forth some resistance on Sunday despite being locked into the two-seed in the West. Tate’s continued absence will not impact fantasy basketball.
