Thursday’s game was the first at Madison Square Garden for Tatum since he ruptured his Achilles tendon during Game 4 of last May’s second-round playoff series. The Celtics star recorded another double-double, his tenth of the season, and he’s scored at least 20 points in seven consecutive games. Add in the assists, and the overall stat line compensated for the low field-goal percentage. Plus, Boston played Thursday’s game without Jaylen Brown, which clearly makes a difference.

Tatum has now had exactly 23 points in three consecutive games. The 28-year-old small forward took a backseat as Jaylen Brown led the way for Boston with 35 points. Tatum continues to look ready for the playoffs as he’s provided first-round per game value over the last two weeks.

Tatum continues to round into form as the playoffs approach. Having scored 23 points or more in five consecutive games, the Celtics’ forward has recorded two double-doubles and a triple-double in his last three outings. Sunday’s stat line included three steals, and Tatum totaled eight over his final three games of Week 23. Boston is closing in on securing the two-seed in the East; as a result, he may not be guaranteed to play in all four games in Week 24.

Tatum finished Friday’s 133-101 victory one assist shy of a second consecutive triple-double. And after logging 37 minutes in Wednesday’s win over the Heat, he only played 31 in Milwaukee. With the playoffs on the horizon, giving Tatum a little more time to recover can be invaluable for the Celtics. Boston ends its Week 23 schedule on Sunday against the Raptors, giving managers in Yahoo! default leagues one more game of Tatum.

Tatum recorded his first triple-double since returning from his ruptured Achilles tendon, and he made some history on Wednesday. He is the third player in Celtics history to finish a game with at least 25 points, 15 rebounds and 10 assists, joining Larry Bird (eight times) and Dave Cowens (two). For Tatum to play at the level that he has, less than a year after such a significant injury, is highly impressive. For fantasy managers who stashed him in an IL spot, their patience has been rewarded.

After being shorthanded for their back-to-back on Sunday and Monday, the Celtics will have their preferred first five on the floor in Miami. Hauser, Tatum and Queta are good to go, which pushes Baylor Scheierman, Jordan Walsh and Luka Garza to the bench.

Tatum will be back after missing Monday’s game against Atlanta, which was the second leg of a back-to-back. His return should push Jordan Walsh back to the bench after he started two straight games.

Tatum will get the night off for injury maintenance as Boston plays its second straight game. Hugo González is a candidate to see additional run with Tatum on the shelf, but the former is not a must-add player for fantasy championship week.

Tatum’s 32 points in the win over the Hornets were a season-high. The Celtics improved to 9-2 when the 28-year-old power forward plays this season. He’s averaging 20.8 points, 9.1 rebounds, 4.2 assists, and 1.1 steals since returning from an Achilles injury. Tatum and the Celtics have four games upcoming in Week 23, starting with a matchup against the Hawks on Monday.

Tatum is good to go after initially being listed as questionable. He played 37 minutes in Friday’s win over the Hawks; the Celtics may look to lessen Tatum’s workload on Sunday, even with Jaylen Brown unavailable.

The Celtics play on Sunday and Monday, so Tatum is likely to sit out one of the team’s next two games. Hugo González could see his playing time increase with Tatum unavailable, but he is not a must-stream player. As for Queta, Luka Garza is the player whose opportunities would increase if the Celtics don’t have their starting center.

Tatum’s field goal percentage continues to be an issue, but he was able to make up for it in other ways in this game. He set a new season high for scoring in this game, and he recorded his third straight double-double. It’s only been 10 games, but he has been better on the glass than he has ever been in his career. He’ll continue to get better as he plays more games, and his availability is going to give the Celtics to make a deep run in the playoffs.

Tatum has recorded a double-double in two straight and four of his last six appearances for the Celtics. He hasn’t been the prolific scorer that he was before the Achilles tendon rupture. Still, the good news for fantasy managers is that Tatum has provided solid value in other areas. In addition to the 12 rebounds, he was responsible for season-highs in assists and steals. Tatum and the Celtics end Week 22 with games on Friday and Sunday.

Like Jaylen Brown, Tatum did not have a great night shooting the basketball, finishing 2-of-7 from beyond the arc. The good news for category league managers was that he was effective as a rebounder, and the two steals will also help. The Celtics are off until Wednesday; maybe the extra time off will help Tatum, as he’s shooting just 37.5 percent from the field over the last week.

Tatum is getting more comfortable by the game, with Wednesday’s effort being his fifth straight with at least 20 points. The Celtics’ forward also recorded his third double-double since returning to the lineup, the second with at least 20 points scored. Boston has two more games in Week 21 without a back-to-back, which should bode well for Tatum’s availability.

Tatum reached the 20-point mark for the fourth consecutive game on Monday as he tied a season-high in minutes played. In the win, he also finished with his highest shooting percentage since making his season debut earlier in March. The subtle improvements could be seen as encouraging for those fantasy managers who have him rostered. While Tatum understandably isn’t yet performing at his former All-NBA level this early in his return from the Achilles injury, he should be a productive option in fantasy playoffs.

Back in the lineup after sitting out Thursday’s loss to the Spurs, Tatum surpassed 30 minutes for the first time in his four appearances this season. Even better for fantasy managers, he recorded a new season-high in rebounds and matched his high in assists. The Celtics’ four-game Week 21 does not include a back-to-back, but that doesn’t rule out the possibility of an injury management night for Tatum at some point. That said, three games of Tatum still means excellent value for fantasy managers.

The Celtics continue to play the long game with their star, and rightfully so. While this is a big game against a good team, the playoffs are much bigger, and the Celtics want to be sure that Tatum is as healthy as possible when that time comes. Payton Pritchard (neck) will play on Thursday after missing Tuesday’s game against the Spurs, so he will step back into a bigger role.

While Thursday’s game is not part of a back-to-back, the Celtics aren’t going to put too much on Tatum’s shoulders as he continues his comeback from a ruptured Achilles tendon. He has logged 27 minutes in each of his three games and is likely to hover around that number for the foreseeable future.

Tatum has played 27 minutes in all three games since returning from an Achilles injury. The 28-year-old small forward continues to progress scoring 15, 20 and 24 points. Tatum wasn’t particularly efficient with 24 points on 24 field goal attempts, but that’s to be expected given all the time off he’s had. The Celtics have two more games this week and there are enough off days that Tatum should be available for both.

Tatum got off to an excellent start on Sunday, shooting 4-of-6 from the field and scoring 12 points in the first quarter. He cooled off considerably, shooting 2-of-10 from the field the rest of the way, but the Celtics’ star recorded 20 points in 27 minutes. Boston plays three games in Week 20 without a back-to-back; hopefully, this guarantees Tatum managers that he’ll be available for each.

After 298 days of rehabbing from a ruptured Achilles tendon, Tatum returned to action on Friday. Unsurprisingly, there was a combination of rust and nerves for the four-time All-NBA forward to work through, and he missed his first six shot attempts. Tatum’s first basket was on a tip dunk with just over one minute remaining in the second quarter, and he would go on to make five straight shots. Tatum was not under any restrictions, playing 27 minutes and checking out for good with 5:01 remaining, the Celtics leading by 25. Boston ends its Week 19 with a game in Cleveland on Sunday.

The expectation of many was that Tatum would start, and head coach Joe Mazzulla confirmed that during his pregame availability. However, he did not know if Tatum’s minutes would be restricted. Either Baylor Scheierman or Sam Hauser will come off the bench.

Tatum is back much quicker than expected after undergoing surgery on a ruptured Achilles tendon on May 13, 2025. Boston is the No. 2 seed in the East, and the team has the luxury of bringing its superstar forward along slowly as he ramps up for a playoff run. Tatum’s minutes will be managed at least in the short term, so fantasy managers should keep an eye on his minutes and Boston’s rotations.

Tatum is definitely coming back this season, and it seems like Friday is the likely date. It makes sense as a bit of a soft landing spot against a Mavericks team that is already looking towards next season. This return date will be less than 10 months after Tatum had surgery for a ruptured Achilles tendon. Payton Pritchard is already coming off the bench, but the big question will be how much usage Tatum takes away from Jaylen Brown, who is having a tremendous season.

While he continues to progress in his recovery, Tatum is not ready to make his first appearance of the season. When, or if, that happens remains unknown. Until then, Jaylen Brown will continue to serve as Boston’s first scoring option.

Tatum has been out since rupturing his right Achilles tendon during Game 4 of the Celtics’ second-round series against the Knicks in May. While he has progressed faster than most returning from this severe of an injury, there is still no guarantee that Tatum will play this season. According to Charania, the forward still does not have a timeline to return.

Tatum ruptured his Achilles tendon during Game 4 of the Celtics’ second-round series against the Knicks last May. Given the reports out of Boston and some of the videos, it appeared that there was a good chance that Tatum would try to come back before the end of the regular season. However, that may not be the path he takes, with the star forward now re-evaluating his options. Given how well the Celtics have played this season, that may be one of the factors that Tatum is considering. Fantasy managers who have been stashing Tatum in an IL spot can hold onto him for now, but be ready to pivot.

Tatum was injured during the fourth quarter of Monday’s Game 4 loss to the Knicks, with his leg giving out as he attempted to corral a loose ball. The Celtics star could not put any weight on his leg while being helped to the locker room, and the worst fears have officially been realized. Not only will Tatum miss the remainder of this playoff series, which Boston trails 3-1, but he’ll likely miss most of the 2025-26 season. One would expect Kristaps Porzingis to return to the starting lineup in the short term, and the Celtics have serious long-term questions to answer following Tatum’s injury.
