Wolf didn’t have a good night shooting the basketball, but the rookie did record a complete stat line in his 26 minutes. Rostered in two percent of Yahoo! leagues, the 7-footer is ranked just inside the top-200 in eight-cat formats over the past two weeks. Wolf will have every opportunity to contribute during the second half of the season, so he should be a solid option for the “silly season.” As for right now, the percentages and overall production are too low to trust him in most fantasy leagues.

Michael Porter Jr. (rest) is not available for Sunday’s game, and his absence opens up a spot in the starting lineup. As has been the case recently, Wolf starts when MPJ is not available. Also moving into the lineup is Mann, who is starting for Drake Powell (knee).

Due to injuries, Wolf was tabbed to make his first start on Thursday. The rookie forward/center recorded a complete stat line, providing solid value in the assist and steal categories. His value in the short term depends on the availability of Terance Mann and Michael Porter Jr. However, Wolf should have solid value during the “silly season,” especially given how well he played in early December.

Wolf came rocketing back to earth in this one, going 0-for-7 from downtown, after exploding for 17 points over 27 minutes earlier this week against the Mavericks. His lackluster shooting performance came on a night where Brooklyn drained 19 three-pointers and shot nearly 45 percent from downtown. The 21-year-old offers fringe fantasy appeal at the moment given the Nets’ crowded rotation, but an increase in minutes would give him some increased relevance.

Wolf has scored at least 17 points in three of his last six games. But is he at the point where he can be trusted in a higher percentage of redraft leagues? Maybe so. Despite the inconsistent scoring, Wolf has been a 10th-round player in eight-cat formats over the past two weeks. While he certainly isn’t a must-add, deep-league managers can’t be blamed for considering Wolf well ahead of the “silly season” rush. The negative in the short term is the schedule, as the Nets face Milwaukee on Sunday, but they only have two games in Week 9.

Over his last five games, Wolf has averaged 12.4 points, 5.8 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 2.2 three-pointers per game. It goes without saying that these are solid numbers for a rookie coming off the bench behind two young bigs in Nic Claxton and Noah Clowney. However, the lackluster defensive production makes Wolf difficult to trust this early in the season. While the recent run has been encouraging, he has not reached the point where he should be considered in most redraft leagues. That’s likely to change later this season, especially with the Nets dropping to 1-10 at home on Thursday.

Wolf may have a knack for dunking on people. Two nights removed from putting Milwaukee’s Kyle Kuzma on a poster as part of a 22-point night, the rookie did the same to Charlotte’s Miles Bridges. Wolf’s overall production against the Hornets didn’t move the needle much in fantasy basketball, but he’s hit double figures in minutes in three straight games. That may not mean much right now, but Wolf could be a valuable option for fantasy managers after the February trade deadline.

Wolf hasn’t played much of a role during his rookie year, but he was part of the rotation in this game and made a huge impact off the bench. He led the Nets in scoring while enjoying the best game of his young career. He’s a dynamic big man that has tremendous upside, and Brooklyn will likely let him continue to take on more minutes to see how he can develop. He’s a valuable piece in dynasty leagues, and he’s worth keeping an eye on in standard redraft leagues.

The 27th pick in this year’s draft will likely make his NBA debut on Monday, but it’s unclear what kind of role he’ll have in Brooklyn’s rotation, especially after coming off of injury. Day’Ron Sharpe and Noah Clowney could see a reduction in playing time, but fantasy managers should keep an eye on the frontcourt rotation moving forward. Fellow rookie first-rounder Drake Powell (ankle) remains out against the Timberwolves.

Wolf remains out and has yet to make his official Nets debut. His continued absence does not significantly impact fantasy basketball, but it has meant consistent minutes for Day’Ron Sharpe and Noah Clowney off the bench.
