Not long after Walter was announced as probable, Raptors head coach Darko Rajakovic revealed that the second-year wing will play Friday night. Walter’s return from an illness that sidelined him for the opener means Gradey Dick and Ochai Agbaji may play fewer minutes after logging 24 and 20, respectively, on Wednesday.

Walter, who sat out Wednesday’s season-opening win over the Hawks, is on track to make his first appearance of the 2025-26 season. His return may result in fewer minutes for fellow reserves Gradey Dick and Ochai Agbaji, but the former scored 21 points in 24 minutes against Atlanta.

Walter missed the season opener, and there is a chance he remains sidelined for another game. Gradey Dick had 21 points in 24 minutes off the bench on Wednesday, while Ochai Agbaji played 20 minutes. Both would continue to play a large role if Walter remains out.

Walter is sick, so this likely won’t be a lengthy absence for him. Gradey Dick and Ochai Agbaji will fill out a few extra reserve minutes on the wing with Walter sidelined.

After sitting all five expected starters in Friday’s win over the Celtics, the Raptors will have Quickley, Barrett and Barnes on the court Sunday afternoon. Jakob Poeltl remains out and Brandon Ingram will miss a second straight game, resulting in starts for Walter and Mamukelashvili. While the latter is essentially guaranteed a spot in the Raptors’ regular-season rotation, Walter could use a good effort on Sunday to help separate from the pack among Toronto’s surplus of reserve wings.

Due to Toronto’s logjam on the wings, Walter’s chances of getting the playing time needed to impact fantasy basketball this season may be limited. However, he showed signs on Wednesday that he could be a player that Raptors head coach Darko Rajakovic trusts with consistent bench minutes. Walter was active on both ends of the floor against the Kings, with his production being one reason the Raptors picked up the victory. Walter doesn’t qualify as a must-draft player by any stretch of the imagination in redraft leagues, but there may be times during the season when he steps up as a streamer.

The 2024 first-round pick has been solid in Summer League, but this was his best game in Vegas so far, which was enough to help Toronto move to 3-0. Not only was Walter an effective option from beyond the arc, but he was a menace on defense, falling one steal short of tying the Summer League record. Defensive improvement from Walter should help him get more minutes next season.

Walter and the Raptors were highly disruptive on defense Sunday evening, forcing 29 Magic turnovers in the three-point victory. The second-year guard recorded two steals and a blocked shot to accompany his solid scoring and rebounding production. Given Toronto’s depth on the wings heading into the 2025-26 season, Walter may need to bring more to the table defensively to ensure he gets opportunities to showcase his overall game.

Walter led the team in minutes played with 32 as well as points with 22 in Friday’s loss to the Pistons. The 20-year-old shooting guard made the most of his opportunity as the team continues to give him looks down the stretch of a lost season. Walter figures to be a part of the Raptors future plans as a rotational player at minimum.

It has been a quiet rookie season for Walter, but he has taken advantage of his opportunity recently and provided a glimmer of hope for the future. He has scored in double figures in each of his last seven appearances and has averaged 17 points, six rebounds, four assists, two steals and four triples over Toronto’s last two games. He’ll continue to play a significant role for the rest of the season, and while it won’t guarantee him a starting job next season, he could be a solid rotation piece for them in year two.

Walter finished behind RJ Barrett (31) for team lead in the scoring department, and he led Toronto in rebounding. Best of all, Walter racked up some big defensive totals and shot efficiently from the floor. Expect him to continue playing big minutes down the final stretch of the season.

The Raptors will have four new starters for Wednesday’s game, with Barnes being the lone holdover. For availability reasons, Shead, Walter and Robinson are worth streaming, while Barrett is already rostered in most fantasy leagues.

Walter is available for the first time since straining his quad during a March 7 win over the Jazz. While the rookie may not take on a heavy workload in his first game back, there will be opportunities for Walter to provide value before the fantasy season concludes.

Walter has missed Toronto’s last seven games with a quad injury, but a return may be on the horizon. The rookie is officially questionable; however, given the time missed, fantasy managers should not expect Walter to take on a full workload immediately upon his return. Sunday’s game is the first of two in as many days for Toronto, which visits the Wizards on Monday.

Sportsnet’s Michael Grange also reported that Walter has a Grade 2 strain in his quad/hip area that could keep him out for a month. The regular season will end on April 13, which means that there is a real chance that Walter’s rookie year is over. Jared Rhoden started in place of Walter on Monday with Gradey Dick and Ochai Agbaji still sidelined as well. Rhoden had 11 points in 26 minutes, but it was AJ Lawson that really stepped up, as he had 32 points, 12 rebounds and seven three-pointers off the bench. Both Lawson and Rhoden should hold streaming value for at least a couple of weeks, barring an early return from Walter.

Walter will miss a second-straight game due to a strained right quad. Jared Rhoden and Jamison Battle played more than 20 minutes in Saturday’s loss to the Wizards and should do the same on Monday. While worthy of a look in extremely deep leagues, neither player is a must-add.

Walter exited Friday’s game with a quad injury and hasn’t recovered. Several players could fill-in for the injured raptors wing, including Jamal Shead and Jamison Battle.

Walter suffered a strained right quad during the first half of Friday’s game and will not return. Garrett Temple has entered the rotation, but that’s because the Raptors are without multiple rotation players. There’s no need to consider adding Temple, even if Walter is out for an extended period. Walter finished with 14 points (5-of-12 FGs, 2-of-2 FTs), five rebounds, two assists, one steal and two three-pointers in 18 minutes.

With Gradey Dick (knee) sidelined for at least two weeks, this should be the first of many starts for Walter in the near future. It’s an excellent opportunity for the rookie, and he took advantage on Tuesday. Darko Rajakovic benched his starters at the end of the game, which was likely an effort to improve Toronto’s lottery odds. However, Walter didn’t seem to get the memo, and he hit a three-pointer with half a second left in the fourth quarter to five the Raptors the lead. The rookie is available in 99 percent of Yahoo! leagues, and Toronto has two more games this week.

Walter will slide into the starting lineup in place of Gradey Dick, who is set to be re-evaluated in two weeks. Walter may be part of Toronto’s starting unit for the foreseeable future, and he has scored in double figures in each of his two most recent starts.
