Mark Williams (illness) is available to play against the Clippers on Saturday.

Williams was listed as questionable, but he’ll occupy his typical spot as the starting center. That means Oso Ighodaro won’t make a return to the starting lineup.

Mark Williams (illness) is questionable for Saturday’s game against the Clippers.

The Suns are playing Williams around 25-28 minutes per game in an effort to keep him available, but the big man can still catch a cold. An illness could keep him out of Saturday night’s game against the Clippers as he’s listed as questionable. Oso Ighodaro would likely take his spot in the starting lineup if Williams is ruled out.

    Recap

Mark Williams tallied 16 points (6-of-12 FGs, 4-of-5 FTs), 16 rebounds, four assists and one steal in Tuesday’s loss to the Warriors.

While it’s still early, the Suns’ handling of Williams has been a success. He finished Tuesday’s victory with his third double-double, including a season-high 16 rebounds. Williams has appeared in seven of Phoenix’s eight games, providing sixth-round value in nine-cat formats. Phoenix has kept him in the 25-28 minute range over the last three games, yet he’s still providing solid fantasy value. That bodes well for Williams’ future, especially if it ensures he’ll be consistently available.

    Recap

Mark Williams shot 9-of-12 from the field and 2-of-2 from the foul line in Wednesday’s loss to the Grizzlies, scoring 20 points with 12 rebounds, one assist, four steals and one blocked shot.

Williams made his first start of the season on Wednesday, and all that was missing from his final stat line was a three-pointer. He shot the ball well from the field and was active as a rebounder and defender. Some fantasy managers were unwilling to roll the dice on Williams due to his injury history, as he’s yet to play 50 games in a season. While that will remain a concern until he proves he can stay healthy, Williams is off to a good start in Phoenix. He’s providing top-50 value in nine-cat formats, exceeding his Yahoo! ADP of 83.

Devin Booker, Grayson Allen, Ryan Dunn, Royce O’Neale and Mark Williams will start Wednesday’s game against the Grizzlies.

Two nights after playing a season-high 31 minutes in an overtime loss to the Jazz, Williams is in the Suns’ starting lineup for the first time. He replaces Oso Ighodaro, who provided limited fantasy value as a starter. While there remain concerns about Williams’ availability, he’s healthy currently and should be slotted into fantasy lineups.

    Recap

Mark Williams recorded a double-double with 25 points (9-of-14 FGs), 11 rebounds and two steals against the Jazz on Monday.

Williams has been coming off the bench for the Suns, but he played a much larger role than Oso Ighodaro, who only played 13 minutes as the starting center. That worked out well for the Suns, as Williams was able to tip the ball back in at the end of regulation to force overtime. It’s unclear if Williams will continue to come off the bench, but if he does, he may still play more minutes than Ighodaro moving forward.

Mark Williams (knee) is not on the injury report for Monday’s game against the Jazz.

Williams did not play in Saturday’s loss to the Nuggets, Phoenix’s second game in as many nights. He’s played 24 and 14 minutes in his first two appearances of the season, the second being a blowout loss to the Clippers on Friday. With Williams under a minutes restriction, Oso Ighodaro should remain in the starting lineup. However, he’s provided minimal fantasy value, so don’t feel obligated to roster Oso.

Mark Williams (knee) is out for Saturday’s game against the Nuggets.

Saturday’s game is the second in as many nights for the Suns, who lost to the Clippers on Friday. Given his injury history and the Suns’ measured approach to ramping up his workload, Williams’ not playing on Saturday is unsurprising. Oso Ighodaro will remain in the starting lineup, with Nick Richards being the primary backup. Williams’ absence may also lead to rookie Khaman Maluach picking up a few rotation minutes.

    Recap

Mark Williams (lower body) finished Wednesday’s win over the Kings with six points (3-of-5 FGs), 11 rebounds and two blocked shots.

Due to his minutes restriction, Williams was used in a reserve role in his Suns’ debut Wednesday night. He didn’t do much scoring, but the fourth-year center was effective as a rebounder and shot-blocker. Oso Ighodaro (7/4/1) started and played 19 minutes, with Nick Richards (eight points and three rebounds) playing the other five. Rookie Khaman Maluach was the odd man out against the Kings, picking up a DNP-CD. One would think the center rotation will shrink even more as Williams continues ramping up. While he’s worth having rostered in redraft leagues, the other three center options in Phoenix are not.

Suns head coach Jordan Ott said Monday that the team has a “target number” in mind for Mark Williams’ (lower body) playing time on Wednesday against the Kings.

Williams did not play at all during the preseason, as the Suns’ medical staff gradually ramped up his workload. He’ll be available for Wednesday’s season opener, but there will be a minutes restriction to account for. Ott did not disclose the “target number”, but the limit is understandable, as Williams has played no more than 44 games in any of his three NBA seasons. Oso Ighodaro, Nick Richards and Khaman Maluach are in the running for rotation minutes off the bench, with who gets the call on any given night likely depending on the matchup.

Suns head coach Jordan Ott said Friday that Mark Williams (lower body) participated in Friday’s light scrimmage.

Williams’s ability to scrimmage, even if it was a lighter session from an intensity standpoint, is a positive development for him and the Suns. Due to the center’s injury history, the Suns are taking a measured approach to ramping up Williams’ activity in preparation for the regular season. Phoenix is expected to have a more rigorous session on Saturday, and Williams’ participation (and recovery) will undoubtedly impact his status for the beginning of the season. Oso Ighodaro has been the starter during the preseason and is worth taking a late-round flier on, while rookie Khaman Maluach offers the highest long-term upside.

The Suns are targeting their October 22 season opener against the Kings as Mark Williams’ (foot) return date.

Williams has not been available for either of Phoenix’s preseason games, as the Suns have taken a measured approach to his ramp-up for the regular season. The former Hornets center only appeared in 44 games last season, the most he’s played in any of his three NBA seasons. Phoenix’s medical staff hopes Williams will be ready when they open the regular season on October 22. Oso Ighodaro has started the first two preseason games, with Nick Richards and lottery pick Khaman Maluach coming off the bench. Maluach offers the highest upside, but Ighodaro may be on track to start if Williams cannot return in time for the start of the season.

Mark Williams (lower body) has been limited during training camp and will not play in Friday’s exhibition against the Lakers.

Williams, acquired from the Hornets in late June, has not participated in any 5-on-5 action during the offseason or the early stages of training camp. During his media availability following Wednesday’s practice, Suns head coach Jordan Ott did not answer directly when asked if Williams would play in any of the team’s four preseason games. “We’re trying to assess exactly where he is. The goal is there at the end of camp get him as ready as he can,” Ott said. “He’s on a good path. Like I said, every drill work you’ve seen him in. Just not the live 5-on-5.” With Williams’ status for the start of the regular season undetermined, first-round pick Khaman Maluach and veteran Nick Richards will be players to track, with the former offering a higher fantasy ceiling, especially in the long run.

ESPN’s Shams Charania reports that the Charlotte Hornets have traded Mark Williams to the Suns for the No. 29 pick in the 2025 draft and a future 2029 first-round pick.

The Suns will address a glaring need in the frontcourt with the addition of Williams as they bring in another former Hornets center. Khaman Maluach went 10th in the draft to the Rockets, who are expected to send him to the Suns by way of the Kevin Durant trade. Phoenix will have Williams, Maluach and Nick Richards at center if no additional moves are made, meaning one of the bigs will be the odd man out in the rotation.

Mark Williams had 10 points (5-of-12 FGs), 12 rebounds, two assists, two steals and one block against the Celtics on Friday.

Williams played only 24 minutes Friday as the Hornets lost to the Celtics by 36 points. The 23-year-old center still managed to record a double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds. Williams has proven to be an excellent big man when available this season. While he carries additional risk due to a back injury that kept him from being traded to the Lakers midseason, he surely won’t fly under the radar in drafts next season.

Mark Williams logged 31 minutes in Sunday’s loss to the Bulls, finishing with 22 points (7-of-11 FGs, 8-of-9 FTs), nine rebounds, two assists, one steal and one blocked shot.

After missing Friday’s loss to the Kings, Williams was back in the starting lineup on Sunday. He held his own in the matchup with Nikola Vucevic, falling one rebound shy of a double-double while shooting well over 50 percent from the field. While the Hornets play four games during the final week of the regular season, it begins with a Tuesday/Wednesday back-to-back. Williams managers whose leagues will be active should plan for him missing one of those games. As a result, Jusuf Nurkic (18 points, three rebounds, one block and two three-pointers in 16 minutes) could make another start before the season ends.

Mark Williams (back) and Nick Smith Jr. (ankle) are questionable for Sunday’s game against the Bulls.

Williams was a late scratch for Friday’s loss to the Kings, with his absence opening up a place in the starting lineup for Jusuf Nurkic. However, Williams’ absence was more impactful on Moussa Diabate, who recorded a double-double off the bench. As for Smith, Seth Curry has been the starter for the games he has missed, and that would remain the case if the second-year guard remains out.

Mark Williams (back) and Nick Smith Jr. (ankle) are out for Friday’s game against the Kings.

A late addition to the Hornets’ injury report, Williams will not play, and his absence is more impactful than Smith’s regarding fantasy basketball. Jusuf Nurkic will likely move into the starting lineup, and Moussa Diabate should also have more minutes available. As for Smith, he did not play in Wednesday’s loss to the Pacers, resulting in Seth Curry moving into the starting lineup. Curry should retain that role against the Kings.

Mark Williams had 16 points (6-of-8 FGs), 12 rebounds and one assist against the Pacers on Wednesday.

Williams once again had no production on the defensive end, but was efficient on offense and pulled down over 10 rebounds. The 23-year-old center isn’t a one-trick pony, but his skillset is limited to scoring and rebounding. He’s quite valuable in those areas, though. The main drawback for Williams and his fantasy managers is that he continues to manage a foot injury that won’t go away before the end of the regular season.

Mark Williams had 18 points (8-of-9 FGs), 13 rebounds and one assist against the Jazz on Monday.

Williams returned to the lineup after missing Sunday’s game with a foot injury that he continues to manage. The 23-year-old center was incredibly efficient on offense and hit his only two free throws. He had no production on the defensive end, but was excellent otherwise. Williams has been very effective this year, but how the Hornets are managing his injuries has continued to limit his fantasy value.

Mark Williams provided 18 points, 12 rebounds, five assists and a block across 29 minutes Friday in a 108-97 loss to Toronto.

Williams was a perfect 9-of-9 from the field, delivering a team-high point total to go with his 18th double-double of the season. Over the last month, the big man has averaged 15.9 points, 11.3 boards and 1.6 blocks while shooting 67.7% from the field. He’s been a first-round fantasy option in that span, and the only concern for fantasy managers is availability.

Mark Williams (foot) and LaMelo Ball (ankle) are out for Friday’s matchup with the Thunder.

Williams and Ball both played in Thursday’s win over the Knicks, so it’s no surprise that the pair will sit out the second leg of Charlotte’s back-to-back set. Jusuf Nurkic should slide into the starting five in place of Williams, while Ball’s vacated minutes will be picked up by some combination of Nick Smith Jr., DaQuan Jeffries and Seth Curry.

Mark Williams recorded a double-double on Thursday with 19 points (8-of-14 FGs), 14 rebounds, four assists and three blocks against the Knicks.

After really struggling in Charlotte’s blowout loss to Atlanta on Tuesday, Williams got back to providing dominant big man stats against New York. This was the sixth-straight game that he has played in, and he has recorded a double-double in five of them. Charlotte plays the second night of a back-to-back on Friday, which means that Williams is almost a guarantee to sit out. Moussa Diabate and Jusuf Nurkic will split the minutes at center against Oklahoma City, which isn’t an easy matchup for opposing bigs.

Mark Williams amassed 18 points (9-of-15 FGs), 15 rebounds, seven assists, one steal and one blocked shot in 25 minutes in Sunday’s loss to the Clippers.

Due to the nature of Sunday’s game, which the Hornets lost by a 123-88 final score, Williams only played 25 minutes. However, that did not prevent him from providing excellent value for those who have him rostered. Williams has played 29 minutes or less in his last five appearances but has provided top-25 value in nine-cat formats during this stretch. That’s a positive for fantasy managers, as Williams may not log starters’ minutes for the rest of the season. Nothing has been made official, but this is the time of year when lottery-bound teams look to improve their draft odds. The Hornets play four games during Week 20, starting with the Hawks on Tuesday.

    Recap

Mark Williams posted a full line on Monday with 24 points (9-of-13 FGs), 10 rebounds, two assists, two steals and two blocks against the Heat.

After missing Charlotte’s last two games, Williams was back in the starting unit against Miami. He got right back to work and was able to contribute value across the board to help the Hornets win consecutive games for the first time since January. Though availability continues to be an issue for him, Williams has been a fantasy stud when on the floor this season. Of course, a trade being rescinded because of your health is a red flag for dynasty managers.
