    Recap

P.J. Washington recorded a double-double on Saturday with 14 points (4-of-8 FGs), 10 rebounds, five assists, one steal and one block against the Wizards.

For the third time in his last four games, Washington was able to record a double-double. During this stretch, he is averaging 18 points, 9.8 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 1.3 steals and 1.3 blocks per game. He hasn’t shot efficiently, but the counting stats have been there, which has been helpful with Anthony Davis (calf) sidelined. Washington should continue to be a solid producer, but if AD is back to take on the Bucks on Monday, Washington’s value will take a hit.

    Recap

P.J. Washington had 15 points (5-of-13 FGs, 4-of-7 FTs), 11 rebounds, one assist, one steal, two blocks and one three-pointer against the Pelicans on Wednesday.

Washington followed up his 29-point performance against the Rockets on Monday with a double-double in the loss to the Pelicans on Wednesday. The 27-year-old power forward had 15 points on 13 shots and grabbed 11 rebounds. Without Anthony Davis available, Washington will continue to see increased usage as he did last year when the Mavericks also dealt with a number of injuries.

    Recap

PJ Washington led the Mavericks with 29 points (11-of-20 FGs, 6-of-10 FTs), 12 rebounds, three assists, two steals, one block and one three-pointer in a 110-102 loss to the Rockets on Monday.

After two straight poor shooting night which yielded a total of 15 points from Washington, he got back on track in a big way against Houston. He shattered his previous season-high of 18 points and recorded his first double-double of the year. Washington won’t have nights like this one often, but it was a strong performance from him. He’s now currently averaging a career-high in points, rebounds, assists and blocks, though that likely won’t continue. Still, it shows how his usage has increased with Kyrie Irving and Anthony Davis both sidelined.

    Recap

P.J. Washington finished Wednesday’s win over the Pacers with nine points (2-of-8 FGs, 5-of-8 FTs), 11 rebounds, two assists and two blocks.

With the Mavericks currently without Dereck Lively II and Daniel Gafford, they’ve needed Washington to step up defensively and on the glass. He’s grabbed at least nine rebounds in three of his last four, including a season-high 11 on Wednesday. Also, the Mavericks lost Anthony Davis (leg) during the first quarter, impacting Washington’s role and value. While he’s ranked well outside the top-150 in nine-cat formats, that’s due to an average of 3.0 turnovers per game. Washington, rostered in 41 percent of Yahoo! leagues, will be worth a look in standard leagues if Davis joins Lively and Gafford on the sideline.

    Recap

P.J. Washington posted a full line on Friday with 18 points (8-of-14 FGs), nine rebounds, one assist, two steals, one block, two three-pointers and eight turnovers against the Wizards.

Most of this stat line was fine for Washington. Three defensive stats, one rebound away from a double-double, efficient shooting. However, he fell one turnover shy of matching his career-high, which is never a benchmark anyone wants to approach. He only had two turnovers in the season opener, so this shouldn’t be a consistent issue for Washington. He’ll look to get back on track on Sunday against the Raptors.

    Recap

P.J. Washington shot 7-of-11 from the field and 1-of-1 from the foul line in Wednesday’s loss to the Spurs, scoring 17 points with five rebounds, one assist, one block and two three-pointers.

Mavericks head coach Jason Kidd’s decision to start Cooper Flagg at point guard resulted in Washington moving into the starting lineup as part of a “jumbo” lineup. He was productive, finishing a steal shy of a complete stat line. Washington showed that he can provide solid fantasy value when allowed to start, but it’s fair to wonder how long that will last. Dallas didn’t just lose Wednesday’s game; it lost by 33 points. And there were clear signs that the team needed a traditional point guard on the floor to help the offense run smoothly. Returning to the bench would negatively impact Washington’s fantasy value, even if his minutes didn’t take much of a hit.

Cooper Flagg, Klay Thompson, P.J. Washington, Anthony Davis and Dereck Lively II will start Wednesday’s game against the Spurs.

As reported on Wednesday afternoon, Flagg will start at point guard in his official NBA debut. The Mavericks will use a “jumbo” starting lineup, with Washington starting at the three and point guard D’Angelo Russell coming off the bench. Washington’s fantasy ceiling is raised with the starting opportunity, while Russell remains a hold with Kyrie Irving (knee) unavailable.

P.J. Washington, Cooper Flagg, Klay Thompson, Dereck Lively II and Anthony Davis will start Monday against the Jazz.

With D’Angelo Russell out against the Jazz, Washington gets the spot start in the Mavericks’ third preseason game alongside Flagg, Davis, Lively II and Klay Thompson. The super-sized starting unit could allow Flagg, the 2025 first-overall pick, to get reps as the team’s point guard. He’s scored in double figures in each of the first two preseason games and displayed rebounding and playmaking abilities in his minutes.

    Recap

PJ Washington finished with 14 points (4-of-9 FGs, 6-of-7 FGs), three rebounds, one assist and one block in 14 minutes vs. the Thunder on Monday.

After serving as a full-time starter over his first two seasons with the Mavericks, Washington came off the bench in Dallas’ preseason opener. The veteran forward was productive in his new role, finishing as one of the team’s scoring leaders against the Thunder, despite logging limited minutes. Washington will likely remain as a reserve frontcourt player to begin the regular season, as he backs up Cooper Flagg. Still, he should play valuable minutes and could function as one of the more reliable second-unit players in the league.

    Transaction

ESPN’s Shams Charania reports the Mavericks and PJ Washington agreed to a four-year, $90 million extension.

It had been reported recently that the two sides were highly interested in getting a deal done this offseason, so Wednesday’s development is unsurprising. Washington was headed into the final season of his current deal, so the move solidifies his immediate future in Dallas as the Mavericks build around a core that now includes first overall pick Cooper Flagg. In his first full season with the team, Washington averaged 14.7 points, 7.8 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 1.1 steals, 1.1 blocks and 1.6 three-pointers per game. With the addition of Flagg, Washington will likely come off the bench, but he’s still capable of offering solid fantasy value as a versatile frontcourt option.

    Recap

PJ Washington struggled on Friday and contributed just six rebounds, three assists and two steals against the Grizzlies.

This was not the way Washington wanted to end his season, but he wasn’t alone. Both he and Dereck Lively II were held scoreless in this game despite both playing more than 20 minutes. Washington missed all five of his shot attempts, while Lively missed each of his two shots. Both found other ways to contribute in the box score, but this was an abysmal offensive performance for them. Washington and Lively will both be starters for Dallas again next season, and this one game isn’t enough for managers to be concerned about them next year, especially with Kyrie Irving coming back.

PJ Washington (ankle) and Caleb Martin (hip) are available for Saturday’s game against the Clippers.

Washington and Martin have been upgraded from probable to available, and both played in Friday’s loss to the Clippers. Their roles should not change much, if at all. Washington will remain in the starting lineup, with Martin likely playing around 20 minutes off the bench.

PJ Washington had 19 points (8-of-15 FGs), seven rebounds, two assists, two blocks and one three-pointer against the Bulls on Saturday.

Washington returned after missing two games with an ankle injury. He looked like the same guy as he had 19 points and seven rebounds against the Bulls Saturday. Washington has maintained his production even while playing alongside Anthony Davis. While he benefited from all the injuries the Mavericks have dealt with this season, Washington is a solid player who can still be counted on with Davis back.

Washington’s absence should mean increased playing time for Naji Marshall. Williams should see meaningful minutes and is worth streaming if you need him. He’s averaged 16.9 points, 4.0 rebounds and 4.8 assists across 26.9 minutes over his last eight games, including two starts.

PJ Washington (ankle) and Brandon Williams (back) are questionable for Tuesday’s game against the Knicks.

Washington has been one of the Mavericks’ most productive scorers since returning from injury, while Brandon Williams has been demoted to a bench role. Naji Marshall could be poised to return to the starting lineup if Washington and Davis are ruled out. Jaden Hardy could benefit from Williams missing some time.

PJ Washington (ankle) amassed 16 points (7-of-12 FGs, 1-of-1 FTs), two rebounds, five assists, one steal and one three-pointer in 31 minutes in Monday’s win over the Nets.

Washington sprained his right ankle during the second quarter of Monday’s game. While he did leave the game briefly, the Mavericks forward was on the court for the start of the third. This injury may cast some doubt on Washington’s availability for Tuesday’s game against the Knicks, especially with Anthony Davis (groin) not expected to play. That match is the first of three games the Mavericks will play to conclude Week 21.

PJ Washington had 27 points (9-of-16 FGs), three rebounds, two steals, four blocks and five three-pointers against the Pistons on Friday.

Washington has scored at least 26 points in three straight games. With all the injuries the Mavericks are dealing with, the 26-year-old power forward has become the primary offensive option by default. Washington is set up nicely for this to continue in Week 21 as Dallas has four games coming up next week.

Washington had 29 points on Sunday in his return from an ankle injury. With the Mavericks missing so many players, he continues to be a primary option on the offensive end. The 26-year-old power forward had 26 points Wednesday as he led Dallas in points and shot attempts. That should be a common occurrence until the Mavericks have some players return from injury.

PJ Washington accounted for 29 points (11-of-17 FGs, 7-of-9 FTs), 12 rebounds, two assists and one steal in 32 minutes in Sunday’s loss to the 76ers.

After missing seven games with a sprained ankle, Washington made up for lost time Sunday afternoon. The 29 points were the most he’s scored in a game since January 22, and the double-double was Washington’s first since January 31. Due to the Mavericks’ many injuries and the team still locked in a race for a play-in spot, PJ should have a neon-green light on the offensive end of the floor. That would undoubtedly benefit those who have him rostered, even with the Mavericks only playing two games during Week 20.

Washington has missed the Mavericks’ last seven games with a sprained ankle, so Kessler Edwards has been the starter on most nights.
