Watford had been playing well off the bench recently, so 76ers coach Nick Nurse gave him the starting nod over Jabari Walker. Watford took full advantage of the opportunity, recording the first triple-double of his career. It would be surprising if Nurse didn’t leave Watford in that role, at least until Paul George returns to the lineup. However, if Watford continues to play this well, he’ll certainly have a case to remain a starter over Kelly Oubre. Watford is currently rostered in just six percent of Yahoo! leagues.

Watford has been solid over the last few games off the bench for Philadelphia and will now get the chance to enter the starting lineup. He’ll replace Jabari Walker in the opening unit, though Walker should still have a role off the bench.

Watford will make his 76ers’ debut on Tuesday, giving Philadelphia another frontcourt option off the bench. Head coach Nick Nurse said he’ll use the forward in short stints, which limits Watford’s fantasy potential. He’ll be helpful due to the facilitation abilities, especially with Paul George and Dominick Barlow out due to injury.

Watford, who agreed to a two-year deal with the 76ers this summer, has yet to practice due to a left hamstring injury. According to PHLY’s Kyle Neubeck, imaging of the hamstring revealed no structural damage and the forward is working toward a return to the court within the next week. While Watford does not project to be an impactful fantasy option, his ability to serve as a secondary playmaker at the four could benefit the 76ers’ bench unit once he’s cleared to play.

Watford is one of the Nets whose playing time has increased recently, as the front office has prioritized the draft lottery over winning games. Two days after a solid performance against the Pacers came to a premature end due to his ejection, Watford made up for lost time on Saturday. The 26 points are the most he’s scored in a Nets uniform and one shy of his career-high. While Watford is ranked outside the top 200 in eight-cat formats over the past two weeks, he’s capable of having days like Saturday. The Nets play four games during Week 21, starting with Dallas on Monday.

Watford was able to contribute solid value off the bench across his 27 minutes in Thursday’s loss to the Pacers. He led the reserves in scoring and had at least 10 points for a third-straight game. However, his night came to an end with a few minutes left in the fourth quarter after he got into a heated scuffle with some Pacers players that ended with coaches prying players away. The altercation was physical enough that Watford has a chance to be suspended, but that isn’t a guarantee. He also isn’t a player to roster in most formats, but as the season winds down, he may continue to see his role expand.

Watford will sit out Saturday’s game, which is the first of two in as many nights for the Nets. Given the many absences, Jalen Wilson and Day’Ron Sharpe should log more minutes off the bench. Sharpe offers a higher fantasy upside, especially with Nic Claxton (rest) out.
