Edwards suffered a bone bruise and hyperextension in his left knee last week and was expected to miss multiple weeks. While the 24-year-old shooting guard took shots after practice on Saturday, that timeline doesn’t seem to have changed. The Timberwolves are going to start their second round series without Edwards and it’s still unclear when exactly he’ll be back.

While Randle didn’t shoot efficiently, he consistently had the basketball in his hands down the stretch and helped lead Minnesota to the finish line and into the second round. He produced at all three levels as a scorer and was one of the team’s more productive passers throughout the game. Surely, Randle is capable of a greater stat line, but he was impactful in his 37 minutes on the floor. He’ll have a chance for stronger stats against the Spurs on Monday.

Shannon showed up and played exceptionally well in his first playoff start, delivering consistent, timely baskets throughout the game to help Minnesota advance past the first round. Arguably, the only knock on the second-year guard’s performance was his inability to knock down the three-point shot efficiently. Still, he finished as the team’s second-leading scorer in a game that they played without several key perimeter players. Shannon should have a role to begin the second-round series against San Antonio, regardless of which Timberwolves players are available.

McDaniels stepped up in a big way to help the Timberwolves advance to the second round. Offensively, he took on a significant role and responded by notching his first-ever 30-point playoff game. He battled on both the offensive and defensive glass, while being a major reason for Jamal Murray’s offensive struggles. McDaniels was massive all throughout Round 1, and his two-way ability will be relied on when Minnesota takes on San Antonio in the next round.

With Dosunmu out, the Timberwolves find themselves in a tougher spot in Thursday’s closeout game. They’ll insert Shannon into the opening unit, who scored 15 points in Game 4. Minnesota will face a Denver team that is also dealing with a key injury to Aaron Gordon, who will not play in Game 6.

Dosunmu’s absence on Thursday is undoubtedly a major blow for the Timberwolves, who are already playing without Anthony Edwards (knee) and Donte DiVincenzo (Achilles). Since being acquired ahead of February’s trade deadline, the fifth-year guard has been stellar for Minnesota on both ends of the floor. He’s become one of the team’s best and most reliable scorers during the postseason. Without Dosunmu, Jaden McDaniels and Julius Randle will likely be counted on for more offensive production.

Injuries to Anthony Edwards (knee) and Donte DiVincenzo (Achilles) have made Hyland a more important player within the Timberwolves’ rotation, even if he continues to come off the bench. His availability is good news for Minnesota as it looks to close out the series, and Ayo Dosunmu (calf) is still considered questionable.

Already without Anthony Edwards (knee) and Donte DiVincenzo (Achilles), the Timberwolves could be down two more guards for Thursday’s game. Dosunmu, who dropped a career-high 43 points in Game 4, is dealing with a sore right calf. He joins Bones Hyland (knee) as a Timberwolves guard who is questionable going into a game that Minnesota must win to avoid a Game 7. Terrence Shannon Jr. would see his playing time increase if Dosunmu or Hyland can’t play.

Under normal circumstances, Hyland’s availability would not significantly affect the Timberwolves’ rotation. However, he has taken on added responsibilities with Anthony Edwards (knee) and Donte DiVincenzo (Achilles) sidelined. If Hyland can’t play on Thursday, look for Terrence Shannon Jr. to see his playing time increase after logging 14 minutes in Game 5.

With the Timberwolves missing multiple starters, Randle stepped up with 27 points and six assists in Game 5. Still, it wasn’t enough to close out the Nuggets on their home floor Monday. Randle and the Timberwolves will head home for Game 6 on Thursday, which could be their best chance to win the series.

Ant-Man is dealing with a bone bruise and hyperextension in his left knee, and he’ll likely miss the rest of the first-round series against Denver. Minnesota must win only one of its next three games against the Nuggets, scheduled for Monday, Thursday and Saturday, if the series goes the distance. The Wolves played well without Edwards in the regular season, but without he and Donte DiVincenzo, the road ahead will be challenging. Ayo Dosunmu will need to keep scoring at a high level to pick up the slack, and he’ll look to build off of a 43-point performance in Game 4.

DiVincenzo suffered a ruptured right Achilles tendon during the first quarter of Saturday’s Game 4 win over the Nuggets. Like Boston’s Jayson Tatum last spring, the Timberwolves guard is undergoing surgery the day after the injury. DiVincenzo is out indefinitely, and given the general timeline for Achilles tendon ruptures, he’s going to miss a significant portion of the 2026-27 season.

Edwards suffered a bone bruise and hyperextension in his left knee in the second quarter of Game 4 and is expected to miss multiple weeks, per ESPN’s Shams Charania. The loss is a big one for the Timberwolves, who have a 3-1 series lead over the Nuggets in the opening round. Minnesota also lost starting guard Donte DiVincenzo to a season-ending torn Achilles in Game 4. Without Edwards and DiVincenzo, Bones Hyland and Ayo Dosunmu should see the bulk of the backcourt minutes going forward.

After totaling 21 points in the first three games of the series, Reid stepped up on Saturday to help the Timberwolves compensate for the losses of Anthony Edwards (knee) and Donte DiVincenzo (Achilles). The former NBA Sixth Man of the Year winner contributed a complete stat line on good percentages, playing 28 minutes off the bench. While his playing time may not increase much moving forward, the Timberwolves losing DiVincenzo and Edwards means that they’ll need more production from Reid.

Randle didn’t have a great game, but it didn’t matter much on a night when Ayo Dosunmu scored 43 points and Naz Reid added 17. Of greater concern for the Timberwolves was how Game 4 ended, with Nikola Jokić’s reaction to a Jaden McDaniels (12 points, eight rebounds, three assists and one block) layup sparking a shoving match that led to Jokić and Randle being ejected. No punches were thrown, so the two ejected players may be fine for Monday’s Game 5, but that isn’t guaranteed.

On a night when starters Anthony Edwards (knee) and Donte DiVincenzo (Achilles) suffered significant injuries, Dosunmu had the best game of his NBA career. The 43 points were a career-high for the guard, who became the fourth in NBA postseason history to have a 40-point game off the bench. Dosunmu was highly efficient, missing just four shots from the field and shooting a perfect 12-of-12 from the foul line. He’ll likely be in the starting lineup for Game 5 in Denver on Monday night.

For the second consecutive postseason, a team has lost a key rotation piece to a ruptured Achilles tendon. After Milwaukee (Damian Lillard), Boston (Jayson Tatum) and Indiana (Tyrese Haliburton) experienced that pain last season, Minnesota did so with DiVincenzo during Saturday’s Game 4 against the Nuggets. The Timberwolves’ guard was injured early in the first quarter, and his ability to walk to the locker room without assistance was not the positive sign some had hoped. Ayo Dosunmu has added importance to the Timberwolves’ future, especially if Anthony Edwards (knee) also has to miss time.

Edwards landed awkwardly and hyperextended his left knee late in the second quarter of Saturday’s game. The Timberwolves’ star remained down on the court, holding his knee and requiring help getting back to the locker room. With Donte DiVincenzo (leg) going down during the first quarter, the Timberwolves will finish Game 4 without their starting backcourt. Ayo Dosunmu and Mike Conley started the third quarter.

DiVincenzo went down with a potentially serious right lower leg injury early in the first quarter of Saturday’s game. The Timberwolves guard immediately called for the team trainers but did not require assistance to return to the locker room. However, there is concern that he may be out for an extended period. Ayo Dosunmu entered the lineup after DiVincenzo’s injury and would likely start moving forward.

Partially due to foul trouble and potentially due to the bothersome knee, Edwards logged only 24 minutes in the Game 4 victory. He struggled with his shot throughout the contest and didn’t make any major contributions in other statistical categories. Still, he was a plus-11 in his time on the floor and, at the very least, his presence was felt. He’ll have a day in between games to treat his knee before taking the floor again in an important Game 4 on Saturday.

McDaniels’ two stocks don’t quite tell the story of his impact defensively in Thursday’s win. He hounded Denver’s Jamal Murray throughout the game and forced the championship-winning point guard to log one of his worst performances of the postseason. And on the other end, McDaniels shot the basketball extremely well and had a couple of electrifying buckets down the stretch before finishing as one of Minnesota’s top scorers. Surely, he’ll play a big role on Saturday in Game 4.

Dosunmu was stellar on Thursday. On the heels of a 9/4/5 line in Game 2, the reserve wing was Minnesota’s top scorer in Game 3, doing all of his work inside the three-point line. His biggest impact as a scorer came in the middle two quarters, when he tallied 17 points on 6-of-7 shooting. And he also finished Thursday’s contest just one assist shy of a double-double. Dosunmu was fantastic down the stretch of the regular season for the Wolves, and he continues to come up big for the team since his arrival ahead of the trade deadline.

Edwards has been upgraded from questionable to available on Thursday for the third time in as many games. He continues to manage a knee injury up until game time, but has gone on to log 78 minutes in the series, posting averages of 26.0 points, 9.5 rebounds, 4.5 assists, and 2.5 blocks. He’ll take the floor in Game 3 on the heels of a 30-point, 10-rebound double-double.

Edwards is questionable for the third time already in the series. He’s ultimately been upgraded to available prior to each game so far, with that potentially being the case for Game 3. The superstar guard totaled 30 points and 10 rebounds in an impressive Game 2 victory for the Timberwolves, who will look to capitalize on their home-court advantage on Thursday. Should Edwards play, he’ll have a chance to put up more big numbers.

DiVincenzo’s dunk in the final seconds sealed Minnesota’s 119-114 victory, and he knocked down a few timely three-pointers to help even the series. Through two games, the Timberwolves’ guard has shot 8-of-14 from beyond the arc, and that’s after shooting a combined 11-of-30 from deep in the final four games of the regular season. If DiVincenzo can shoot the ball as well as he did in Games 1 and 2, that would go a long way toward helping the Timberwolves advance. Game 3 is on Thursday.

While quiet during the second half of Game 2, Randle’s performance in the first half helped the Timberwolves erase a double-digit deficit. He scored 18 points before halftime, combining with Anthony Edwards to score 38 of the Timberwolves’ 64 points. Randle finished with solid percentages and was one rebound shy of a double-double, performing much better than he did in Saturday’s Game 1 defeat. The Timberwolves host Game 3 on Thursday night.

Edwards is still getting his stamina up to par after missing a large portion of the final month of the regular season. And playing at altitude may not have helped in Saturday’s series opener, but he was better in Game 2. Edwards scored 20 points in the first half and finished with a 30-point double-double as part of a complete stat line. As a result, Minnesota heads home with the series tied at one game apiece. Game 3 is on Thursday night.
