Burleson’s home run was No. 10 for him on the year. The 26-year-old outfielder hit a two-run shot off Luis Ortiz in the third inning. Burleson got off to a slow start this year, but has heated up with a .337 average, six home runs and 19 RBI in 24 games in the month of June. As long as he keeps hitting, the Cardinals won’t be rotating him out of the lineup as they did earlier this year.

The 23-year-old outfielder has been shelved since June 25 due to appendicitis. He’ll remain there through the weekend before being re-evaluated. Walker is eligible to return from the injured list on Wednesday and it sounds like that’s when he could rejoin the Cardinals.

Arenado has picked up his offensive game in the month of June. The 34-year-old third baseman is hitting .274 with four home runs and 14 RBI in 24 June games. Arenado has hit .272 and .266 in his last two full seasons so we should expect his .246 average this year to continue to pick up.

A complete game shutout on fewer than 100 pitches is known as a Maddux. Gray needed only 89 pitches to complete a one-hit shutout with 11 strikeouts against the Guardians. While it was one of the more impressive pitching performances of the year, it’s fair to point out Gray was facing a struggling Guardians lineup that was without its best hitter in Jose Ramirez. Gray lowered his ERA to 3.36 on the year and he has a 101/17 K/BB ratio in 93 2/3 innings. The 35-year-old right-hander is lined up to face the Pirates on the road next week.

No word yet on where that assignment will begin, but Yoshida is expected to need plenty of at-bats before he’s an option to join the Red Sox’ lineup. If all goes according to plan, it sounds like they’re hopeful he’ll be ready to return coming out of the All-Star break.

Hays returned from the injured list on Friday, going 1-for-4 with a double and an RBI. This is likely their way of just easing him back into a full-time role. Rece Hinds will start in his place in right field and bat seventh for the Reds against Randy Vasquez and the Padres on Saturday afternoon in Cincinnati.

Winker has been shelved since the beginning of May due to a right oblique strain. He’s eligible to return from the injured list on July 4 and there’s a chance that if everything goes according to plan he could be ready at that time. It’s unclear who he would displace on the Mets’ current roster, but having too many quality options seems like a good problem for them to sort out.
