Mike Trout still isn’t seeing any outfield time, so Soler, who missed two weeks with back inflammation, will have to contribute as a right fielder for now. He’s been quite the liability to this point, having hit .207/.280/.350 with about as many strikeouts (79) as total bases (83) in 265 plate appearances. LaMonte Wade Jr., who has been seeing most of the time in right field of late, will likely be more of a bench guy now.

The Angels scored a run on an RBI double by Jo Adell in the top half of the eighth inning to take a 1-0 lead then Soler followed with a two-run double that seemingly put the game out of reach at that stage. A fun night for Soler to victimize his former ballclub in his first game back off the injured list. On the season, the 33-year-old slugger is slashing an underwhelming .209/.287/.356 with eight long balls and 28 RBI.

As a team, the Braves were only able to muster six total hits against Tyler Anderson and company in what was a brutal offensive performance. The 27-year-old superstar outfielder whiffed three times against Tyler Anderson and also took a called third strike against Jose Fermin in the seventh inning. Even with the rough night, he’s still slashing an outstanding .350/.467/.610 with nine homers, 18 RBI and four stolen bases in his first 35 games.

It’s his first career seven-RBI game. He’d had six just once before, that coming against the Yankees in a two-homer game almost exactly a year ago (June 27, 2024). He now has 26 career multihomer games. Springer seemed to be in obvious decline over the past couple of years and looked particularly bad this spring, but he’s back performing at an All-Star level now, batting .270/.367/.486 with 13 homers and nine steals in nine tries.
