Moncada has performed well when he’s been able to take the field this season, hitting .237/.336/.505 in 30 games. If this calms down quickly, he could return in 10 days. Until then, the Angels figure to use Luis Rengifo at third and go with Scott Kingery and Kevin Newman at second. Kingery is starting tonight.

Schanuel’s home run was his fourth of the year. He hit a solo shot off Scott Blewett in the first inning. Schanuel is hitting .282 with a .770 OPS and 22 RBI on the year. He doesn’t have enough power or speed for shallow formats, but can be a useful bat in AL-Only and deeper mixed leagues.

Kikuchi gave up seven hits, walked two and struck out 10. The 33-year-old left-hander had his strikeout stuff working, but was also fairly hittable against the Orioles on Sunday. Kikuchi struck out the first two batters in the sixth inning before allowing a single to Gary Sanchez. Cedric Mullins laid a bunt down and Kikuchi threw it away allowing Sanchez to score and Mullins to reach third base. Coby Mayo followed with an RBI double to chase Kikuchi. He has a 3.05 ERA on the year heading into his start against the Astros at home next weekend.

Rengifo went into Saturday’s contest with just one home run over 223 plate appearances. He tripled that number against the Orioles, going deep for a pair of solo blasts. His first came in the sixth inning off Keegan Akin, followed by his second homer in the eighth off Andrew Kittredge. The 28-year-old infielder is hitting .220/.252/.294 with 17 runs scored and 14 RBI on the season.

With Jordan Westburg back and Ramón Urías still available, there’s very little need for Mayo at third base right now. There still should be ample opportunity for him first and DH, but he’s going to have to step up and claim it; he’s been on the bench the last two times the Orioles have faced righties.

Mayo has been taking defensive reps at the cold corner since returning to the majors last week and will make his first career start at the position on Wednesday night in Seattle. The extra defensive versatility helps give him another avenue to at-bats in Baltimore’s lineup moving forward.

Mayo went 1-for-3 with an RBI on Saturday after being promoted from Triple-A Norfolk. The 23-year-old top prospect figures to continue occupying the DH spot, but could also see some time at first base, while Ryan Mountcastle is on the injured list with a hamstring strain.
