Matthews is up with a chance to make his MLB debut after being drafted in the first round in 2023. The 23-year-old has forged an .876 OPS with 10 home runs and 25 stolen bases, and he offers some long-term fantasy upside. It seems unlikely he’ll have a ton of relevancy in 2025, but he’s certainly worth keeping an eye on.

The 23-year-old top prospect is expected to get a real shot at becoming the team’s regular season baseman. He possesses an intriguing blend of power and speed which makes him an interesting addition in deeper mixed leagues for the second half of the season.

Nothing has changed in the prognosis for the 25-year-old slugger, this was done as a procedural move to free up a spot on the team’s 40-man roster for the addition of Brice Matthews on Friday. Dezenzo is currently pain free as he continues to recover from a capsule sprain in his left hand. He has yet to resume hitting yet and will require a minor league rehab assignment once he’s ready for live action. He now won’t be eligible to rejoin the Astros until early August.

The 29-year-old outfielder suffered the injury during pregame warmups on Wednesday. While it sounded initially like something he would be able to play through, the Astros are going to do the smart thing and sit him down through the weekend to ensure that it gets right. He should be ready to return shortly after the All-Star break.

There haven’t been any rumblings about a return trip to the injured list for the 29-year-old infielder, and if it hasn’t happened by now it probably isn’t going to before the All-Star break. Kyle Farmer will start in his place at second base and will bat eighth for the Rockies against Reds’ rookie right-hander Chase Burns on Friday evening in Cincinnati.

It was his only hit in five at-bats, though he did have two other hard-hit balls. There’s been no quick turnaround for Campbell in Triple-A, as he’s thus far hit .200/.389/.345 with 23 strikeouts in 72 plate appearances. He’s started at first base eight times and at second base five times while in the minors.

All four hits were singles for Semien. The 34-year-old singled up the middle in the third to make it 9-0, and improve his RBI total to 47. Semien is now slashing .239/.318/.366, and his previous success — emphasis on success — suggests he’ll be considerably better than that over the break. That’s the hope, anyway.
