Yankees manager Aaron Boone told reporters Wells underwent testing that ruled out any potential blood clots and that the issue hasn’t impacted his on-field performance. He added that the 25-year-old backstop will remain on the bench through Tuesday’s game against the Blue Jays, but could potentially return on Wednesday. It’ll be J.C. Escarra and Ben Rice handling the catching duties in his absence. There’s always a risk Wells could require a trip to the injured list if the issue persists, but it sounds like there’s optimism he’ll be ready to return at some point later this week. Fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day for now.

Bryan De La Cruz has joined the Yankees and will be activated if Grisham goes on the IL, but it looks like the club will hold off for now. The Yankees have Cody Bellinger in center and Jasson Domínguez in left field today.

It’s Goldschmidt’s fourth straight start after he spent a lot of time on the bench against righties the previous two weeks. That he’s getting picked over Ben Rice today surely has a lot to do with him being 7-for-13 with a homer and five walks lifetime against Gausman.

Rodón has typically completed six innings this season, but he had a lot of long counts tonight, with just 52 of his 96 pitches going for strikes. He allowed five hits, walked three and struck out four. The Yankees dropped to 9-9 in Rodón’s starts, which is kind of hard to believe while considering how good he’s been (2.92 ERA) and how well the team has performed overall. He’ll face the Mets this weekend.

Stallings joins Baltimore’s injury-depleted catching mix to pair with Gary Sánchez ahead of Tuesday’s game against the Rangers. The well-traveled 35-year-old latched on last week with the Orioles on a minor league pact and will get his chance following a back injury to Chadwick Tromp. He was cut loose earlier this month by the Rockies after hitting .143 (12-for-84) over 28 games this season. He’s appeared in 561 contests in the big leagues dating back to 2016.
