Robertson had been up with the big league club for a couple of days to provide depth while Nathan Lukes (concussion) was shelved, but now he’ll return to an everyday role at the Triple-A level. The 27-year-old is 1-for-10 (.100) with an RBI and a 7/1 K/BB ratio in his limited action with the Jays this season.

The Jays needed to clear a spot in their bullpen for the return of Nick Sandlin and Briuhl was the odd man out this time around. The 27-year-old southpaw has pitched very well in two appearances with the Jays, firing 2 2/3 innings of shutout baseball with a 0.75 WHIP and a 4/1 K/BB ratio. He should get another opportunity with the big league club in relatively short order.

The 24-year-old superstar was hit in the hand by a pitch during Wednesday’s game against the Blue Jays. While he felt improvement after sitting out Thursday’s game, the Diamondbacks want to give him an extra day just to be on the safe side. Randal Grichuk will start in his place in right field once again and will bat sixth for the Diamondbacks against Austin Gomber and the Rockies.

Abreu is back after missing just a little over the minimum 10-day stint with his left oblique strain. The outfielder takes Kristian Campbell’s roster spot, and should be in the lineup everyday against right-handed pitchers.

Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo told MLB Network Radio that Carroll is “very close” to returning, but it sounds like that won’t take place after he left Wednesday’s game with a contusion on his hand. It’d be an upset — and upsetting — if Carroll doesn’t return before the end of the weekend.
