Pfaadt did strike out eight, but he allowed six hits with two walks while allowing all four runs in the first three innings. He was going to have to be near his best to beat Robbie Ray on Thursday. He was not. Pfaadt now has a bloated 5.42 ERA and will get a chance to improve that number against the Angels next Sunday, but fantasy managers shouldn’t count on it. Not at this point.

Suárez got Arizona on the board with a solo homer off Robbie Ray in the fourth inning. Former Mariner on former Mariner crime. The 33-year-old continues to pile up the roundtrippers, as he’s up to 27 on the season with a slugging percentage of .561. The question is what team Suárez is playing for at the end of the month.

Marte hit one of two solo homers off Robbie Ray for the D-backs, but those were the only two runs Arizona was able to score off Ray. He’s up to 19 homers and 40 RBI and remains as good — if not better — than any second baseman in the sport.

The 24-year-old superstar has been saying that he plans to return before the All-Star break, and the fact that he’s already back in live game action puts him on a path to accomplish that goal. The assumption is that he’ll at least remain there through the weekend, but we’re not putting anything past Carroll at this point.
