Marte hit one of two solo homers off Robbie Ray for the D-backs, but those were the only two runs Arizona was able to score off Ray. He’s up to 19 homers and 40 RBI and remains as good — if not better — than any second baseman in the sport.

Pfaadt did strike out eight, but he allowed six hits with two walks while allowing all four runs in the first three innings. He was going to have to be near his best to beat Robbie Ray on Thursday. Donovan’s home run stood as the Cardinals only hit in this game until Jon Berti came in to pitch the ninth inning. They were down by seven runs in the blink of an eye and never put up a fight. An incredible start to the season by Donovan gave way to a rough June where he only had a .626 OPS.

Westburg missed five straight games with his left index finger injury, and while he told reporters he won’t be 100 percent for a while, he’s good enough to go for the opening game against Atlanta on Friday.
