The lightly used Fairchild was 6-for-33 in 21 appearances for the Braves. Eli White had overtaken him as a platoon option against lefties, so he was going to see even less time now with Ronald Acuña Jr. back.

It was a given that Acuña would run less in his return from a torn ACL, but we were still wondering how much less. He finally attempted and succeeded on his first steal in his 19th game of the year tonight. In his MVP season of 2023, he attempted 87 steals, with 73 successes, in 159 games.

After striking out 12 Giants last time out, Elder seemed like a fine streaming choice against the impotent Rockies tonight. However, he couldn’t make it out of the fourth while giving up seven hits and three walks. A couple of meekly hit doubles and groundball singles didn’t help the cause. Oddly enough, the Rockies were 3-for-8 when they hit the ball hard against him and 4-for-6 when they didn’t. Elder isn’t recommended with the Mets next on the schedule.

The Braves seem to have settled on Iglesias in the eighth and Dylan Lee in the ninth for now, but it’s not working out for Lee; both times he’s been in position to close, the Braves offense has added on and turned it into a non-save situation. That was the case tonight; Iglesias pitched in a three-run game before the Braves scored five times in the bottom of the eighth. Lee then followed with a scoreless ninth. We’d still say Iglesias is the better use of a roster spot in fantasy leagues, even though Lee probably will get some save chances in the short term.

Carlson finally got the Orioles on the board with a leadoff 408-foot (103.8 mph EV) solo shot off of Tommy Kahnle in the eighth inning. He also singled twice off of Tarik Skubal in the ballgame, tallying three of the O’s four total hits in the contest. On the season, he’s now hitting a respectable .247/.300/.452 with four long balls and 12 RBI in his first 80 plate appearances.

Canzone returns to the majors with Seattle moving on from Leody Taveras ahead of Monday’s series opener against the Diamondbacks. The 27-year-old outfielder appeared in two games earlier this season and has been extremely productive at Triple-A Tacoma, slashing .296/.360/.564 with 13 homers and three steals across 45 games in the hitter-friendly Pacific Coast League.

Laureano went hitless in his first game back from the injured list, but made up for it against his former team Saturday. The two-run homer was the seventh of the season for the outfielder, and a couple more knocks sees his slash at a very solid .275/.327/.549. With the Orioles not getting the kind of offense expected out of their corner outfield and some injuries as well, Laureano should get a chance to keep up the good run. Fantasy managers needing outfield help could do worse than give him a shot.
