Mauricio Dubón will handle second base during Monday’s series opener against the Cardinals with Rodgers missing his fourth consecutive game with left hip soreness. There’s no indication he’ll require a trip to the injured list, so fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day for now.

The fact that Alvarez still remains completely shut down from hitting, according to an official team medical report, as he continues to recover from a small fracture in his right hand seems to signal that he won’t make it back until after next month’s All-Star break. There isn’t an official timetable for his return yet, but he’s still several weeks away based on this latest update.

McCullers was supposed to start tonight, and the Astros had never relayed that anything was wrong with him. Ryan Gusto, who was due to start Tuesday, will take his place and start on four days’ rest. The Astros will need someone else to fill in for Gusto tomorrow. It could be Jason Alexander if he’s not needed tonight, or maybe the Astros will bring up A.J. Blubaugh, who would be on four days’ rest.

Stott has batted fifth or lower in seven of his past eight games since June 6. The 27-year-old speedster’s fantasy appeal takes a hit with the move to the lower third of Philadelphia’s lineup and is batting just .193 (21-for-109) with one homer and four steals over his last 30 games. He remains a borderline mixed-league option for fantasy purposes given the state of the second base position overall, but it might be time for managers to start considering alternatives on the free agent wire.
