Matthews went 0-for-4 with three strikeouts on Friday in his major-league debut. The 23-year-old shortstop was Houston’s first-round pick in the 2023 MLB Draft and does offer some power/speed combo potential in deeper mixed leagues. He’s going to face an adjustment period as he acclimates to everyday life in the big leagues, but he’s going to get some runway with Jeremy Peña (rib) on the shelf in addition to injuries to Luis Guillorme (hamstring) and Brendan Rodgers (oblique).

Javier is aiming to rejoin Houston’s rotation at some point in the second half, most likely in mid-August, after undergoing Tommy John surgery last year. The 28-year-old righty will need several weeks in the minors to continue building up his pitch count and stamina before making his season debut.

Caratini’s home run was No. 10 on the year for him. The 31-year-old catcher is coming off a career-high 111 OPS+ last year and continuing his hot hitting this year. Caratini is hitting .256 with a .750 OPS and 32 RBI this season. He’s still been irrelevant in most fantasy leagues, but has been essential in two-catcher AL-Only formats.

McCullers gave up six hits, walked two and struck out five. The 31-year-old right-hander made an admirable return from injury this season, but his production hasn’t been close to years prior. McCullers takes a 6.48 ERA into the All-Star break. He’s not someone fantasy managers want to rely on down the stretch of the season.

Edman will make his second straight appearance at the hot corner on Saturday afternoon as the Dodgers attempt to replace Max Muncy (knee) for at least the next couple weeks. It’s a notable development since the decision should open up an avenue to regular at-bats for rookie Hyeseong Kim at second base.

Estrada will sit out his fourth consecutive game on Saturday as he battles a lingering left thumb issue. The 29-year-old figures to avoid a trip to the injured list since he’ll get some extra time to rest and recover during next week’s All-Star break. It’ll be Orlando Arcia at the keystone on Saturday in his place.
