Lee entered the game as a pinch-hitter in the seventh and flew out then. He came up in the ninth with none out and runners on the corners and rolled one down the first base line for an easy game-winner. It went as a single, since the Rays let it go in the hopes that it would roll foul. This was Lee’s second straight game out of the starting lineup, even though he’s hitting .324/.352/.490 since the beginning of July. Royce Lewis’s return has complicated the Twins’ lineup, but it seems like there should still be room for Lee most days. It’s not like the rest of the offense is thriving.

Adams entered to start the third after Cole Sands and Danny Coulombe opened the game with perfect innings. Adams wound up allowing runs in all four innings he worked, but the Rays never got the big hit to really break the game open, and the Twins came back to win 6-5. Adams will likely return to Triple-A now in exchange for fresh arm.

Duran hasn’t pitched much of late — his only appearance in the last week was a nine-pitch save on Wednesday — so the Twins got aggressive today, bringing him into a tie game in the eighth. He allowed baserunners both frames he worked, but he struck out three and then wound up with the win after the Twins scored in the bottom of the ninth. Duran threw 34 pitches, so it’ll be interesting to see if he’s available Sunday. If not, then Griffin Jax would likely close.

Kody Clemens gets the nod at first base to face Rays righty Taj Bradley on Saturday afternoon at Target Field. France has been scuffling of late, hitting .220 (11-for-50) with one homer over his last 15 games. He’s gone just 3-for-20 at the dish over his past seven contests.

Williamson smashed a double to right-center with two outs to score Jorge Polanco and give Seattle a 1-0 lead. It’d be the last run for either team. Williamson has helped the Mariners immensely with the glove and his .256 average isn’t horrible, but there’s just no power in his bat as seen in his .318 slugging percentage.
