    Travis Shaw

    MIN • DH • #

Travis Adams gave up five runs in four innings Saturday against the Rays in his major league debut.

Adams entered to start the third after Cole Sands and Danny Coulombe opened the game with perfect innings. Adams wound up allowing runs in all four innings he worked, but the Rays never got the big hit to really break the game open, and the Twins came back to win 6-5. Adams will likely return to Triple-A now in exchange for fresh arm.

    Brooks Lee

    Recap

Brooks Lee put down a game-winning squeeze bunt in the bottom of the ninth as the Twins edged the Rays 6-5 on Saturday.

Lee entered the game as a pinch-hitter in the seventh and flew out then. He came up in the ninth with none out and runners on the corners and rolled one down the first base line for an easy game-winner. It went as a single, since the Rays let it go in the hopes that it would roll foul. This was Lee’s second straight game out of the starting lineup, even though he’s hitting .324/.352/.490 since the beginning of July. Royce Lewis’s return has complicated the Twins’ lineup, but it seems like there should still be room for Lee most days. It’s not like the rest of the offense is thriving.

    Jhoan Durán

    Recap

Jhoan Duran worked scoreless eighth and ninth innings for a win in relief Saturday against the Rays.

Duran hasn’t pitched much of late — his only appearance in the last week was a nine-pitch save on Wednesday — so the Twins got aggressive today, bringing him into a tie game in the eighth. He allowed baserunners both frames he worked, but he struck out three and then wound up with the win after the Twins scored in the bottom of the ninth. Duran threw 34 pitches, so it’ll be interesting to see if he’s available Sunday. If not, then Griffin Jax would likely close.

Ty France is on the bench for Saturday’s game against the Rays.

Kody Clemens gets the nod at first base to face Rays righty Taj Bradley on Saturday afternoon at Target Field. France has been scuffling of late, hitting .220 (11-for-50) with one homer over his last 15 games. He’s gone just 3-for-20 at the dish over his past seven contests.

    Recap

Alec Burleson went 3-for-5 and hit his 11th homer Saturday against the Cubs.

The homer came off Brad Keller in the eighth. Burleson isn’t getting as many singles as usual lately, but he has six homers and 17 RBI in his last 17 games. Fantasy leaguers surely approve. Burleson is slugging .472 this season, up from .390 as a rookie in 2023 and .420 last season.

    Masataka Yoshida

    Injury

Red Sox manager Alex Cora told reporters Masataka Yoshida (shoulder) will return before the All-Star break.

Yoshida is currently playing at Triple-A Worcester on a rehab assignment, but should return to Boston for his season debut at some point next week before the All-Star break. He figures to occupy the DH spot against right-handed pitching and could even factor into their first-base mix.

Ben Rice is at DH and batting cleanup on Saturday against the Mets.

Rice gets the nod over veteran Giancarlo Stanton to face Mets righty Frankie Montas on Saturday afternoon at Citi Field. The 26-year-old slugger made his 11th appearance at catcher earlier this week, which gives him eligibility there in some formats, which is a significant boost to his fantasy appeal moving forward.
