    Bryce Harper

    Bryce Harper

    PHI • 1B • #

Bryce Harper (elbow) has progressed to hitting soft toss.

Harper was placed on the IL with wrist inflammation on June 7, so it’s good to see him taking swings just two weeks later. He is set to hit in the cage at some point this week, after which he could potentially begin a rehab assignment. All of which means that we might see Harper back in Philadelphia in just a couple of weeks.

    Recap

Nolan Schanuel went 3-for-5 with a homer and four RBI on Sunday afternoon, but it wasn’t enough to lead the Angels past the Astros.

Schanuel demolished an 0-1 fastball from Ryan Gusto for a 390-foot (100.5 mph EV) three-run blast in the fifth inning that gave the Angels a 5-4 advantage. It would be short lived. Schanuel also chipped in a run-scoring single in the seventh inning that pulled the Halos to within two at 8-6. With his three-hit attack, the 23-year-old first baseman is now hitting a solid .283/.372/.412 with six long balls and 30 RBI on the season.

    Spencer Horwitz

    PIT • 1B

    Recap

Spencer Horwitz went 3-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and three runs scored in a win over the Rangers on Sunday.

The 27-year-old missed the start of the season with a wrist injury, but has been coming around a bit of late. He has hits in nine of his last 11 games and has gone 12-for-40 (.300) over that stretch. However, that has come with just four RBI, nine runs, and no home runs. He remains more of a deep league fantasy asset.
